Chapter 53

Because Elara had gone to Starfield City early, she didn't pick up her grades. Asher got them for her instead. Hearing what he said, Elara glanced at him.

Asher handed her the report card. "You've made a lot of progress If Lysander continues tutoring you, you shouldn't have any trouble getting into Queensun University," Elara had already made it into the top twenty of her grade. This was a result Asher could never have imagined before. After all, in his eyes. Elara used to be a complete fool. "It's no wonder she was mad when I used to say those things to her, Asher thought.

Receiving this great news from Asher, Elara didn't hesitate to ask, "And what about you? How did you do? Don't tell me you've surpassed Lysander already?"

At the mention of this, Asher's expression darkened. Elara caught on immediately. "So you didn't bear him, huh?"

Asher replied, a little regretful. "You've been studying with him, so you must know he's really good. I have no idea how he studies so effectively. If only I could get him to share his methods." Seeing Asher so humble, Elara said, "He doesn't study."

That statement made Asher's expression even darker. 'Lysander doesn't study and still easily crushes me? I don't believe it Elara must be saying that to mess with me, Asher thought "Alright, I'm going to change. Elara stood up, grabbed her bag, and headed upstairs, sharing her grades with Lysander along the way.

Going from the bottom of the class to the top twenty was something Elara had never thought possible. Although it seemned simple, she knew how much effort Lysander had put into helping her. He probably hadn't even been this focused on his own studies.

[Congrats.] Lysander messaged back, adding that he was already home.

After spending some time in Starfield City, both Elara and Lysander had been busy with their own things after returning. They hadn't seen each other for the past couple of days.

Asher was a little pleased that Lysander hadn't shown up. This morning, he had gone to school with Elara. "Did you and Lysander have a falling out?"

Elara gave him a glance. "Who told you that?"

"Then why haven't you two seen each other? He hasn't come to see you either," Asher asked.

"Does not seeing each other mean we've had a fight?" Elara found Asher's thinking a bit ridiculous "Lysander and I are doing just fine. You can relax"

"Elara..." Asher sounded unwilling to accept that he had no chance left. She must still be mad at me. That has to be it, he thought.

"Is it really necessary to go this far just to spite me? I know I treated you badly before, and if you're angry, I can understand. But I'm being sincere now. I truly want to be with you," Asher said. The more Elara ignored him, the more he wanted to cling to be Asher didn't believe that after being together with him for so long. Elara could be so easily replaced by Lysander. Chapter 53

Elara leaned against the car window, staring at Asher. "Is this the conclusion you came to after a whole Christmas break!"

"I really have been reflecting on myself, Asher replied.

"You're quite determined to win over everything from the Kensington farmily," Elara said sarcastically.

Asher's eyes looked particularly sincere at that moment. If Elara didn't already know his true nature, she might have fallen for it.

Hearing her words, Asher looked hurt. "Is that really how you see me? Do you think I'm that kind of person?"

I'm being sincere, but she actually thinks I'm just after the Kensington family's fortune? Asher thought bitterly

"Then what kind of person are you?" Elara couldn't help but laugh.

Asher said with frustration, "So you really don't believe me, do you?"

Elara picked up her phone and started checking her messages. Seeing her outright ignoring him, Asher felt deeply insulted "Elara. I'm talking to you."

"Theard you," Elara replied indifferently. Her tone was calm, but the calmer she was, the more it drove Asher crazy.

If this were before... If this were the old Elara! She would've been over the moon if I told her I liked her, Asher thought to

himself.

"Doesn't this make you even a litle happy?" Asher asked.

"Happy?" Elara glanced at him, confused by his words. "Happy about what? That you said you like me? Is your affection really that valuable

If Daphne hadn't rejected him, Asher was sure he wouldn't have liked Elara.

The indifference in Elara's eyes was the ultimate insult to Asher. Someone who used to like him was now not only unmoved by his confession, but even found it laughable.

They soon arrived at school, and Elara said, "Get out of the car.

Asher opened the door and stepped out. Still fuming from what Elara had said, he didn't wait for her and just headed straight into the school building.

Elara got out of the car and, watching his retreating back, couldn't help but replace it amusing. He's actually throwing a tantrum?' she thought

Asher walked into the school and immediately spotted Daphne ganding near the entrance, glancing around. When she saw him, she greeted him politely. "Hi, Asher"

It had been a whole semester since Asher had seen Daphne, but his face remained tense. Daphne handed him breakfast. Just bought it.

"I've already eaten Asher declined her offer, still too upset from his argument with Elara to eat anything.

Noticing his bad mood, Daphne asked, "What's wrong? Who upset you?"

Asher pressed his lips together and kept walking toward the classroom, not wanting to discuss it. Daphine trailed behind him. "Did Elara come back?" Chapter 53

They had seen each other when picking up their report cards earlier. Daphne knew that Asher hadn't gone to Starfield Caty

with Elara.

She had asked why, but Asher, of course, didn't tell her the real reason that Elara hadn't invited him. He'd just made up an excuse, saying he had family matters to attend to and didn't feel like going

But during the winter break, Daphne had invited him out a few times, and he hadn't gone with her either. The mere thought of Elara being with Lysander in Starfield City had driven Asher crazy.

In the past, Asher didn't care because he knew that Elara would always be there and he couldn't chase her away.

He couldn't ignore it now because she realized that if she was not careful, she would run away with someone else.

Asher muttered, "Yeah, she's back."

"You didn't come to school with her?" Daphne asked.

"She's behind me," Asher replied.

"Did you two have a fight?" Daphne pressed.

Seeing Asher's sulky expression, Daphne knew she'd guessed right,

"She's a girl. You should try to be more understanding. You think she's like me, always willing to put up with you?" Daphne said.

Elara always acted all high and mighty, as if she looked down on everyone. She was nothing like Daphne, who was right in front of him. Asher and Daphne were on more equal footing, so when he was with Daphne, he didn't feel that overwhelming sense of Inferiority. Daphine's gentle words eased some of the anger Elara had stirred up in Asher.

Asher added, "She went to Starfield City with Lysander."

"Is that what you're upset about?" Daphne asked.

'No wonder he's so mad. Elara's behavior is really over the line. She used to cling to Asher all the time. Now that Asher's treating her well, she's acting all distant, Daphne thought, feeling a bit sorry for Asher. SEND GIFT
