Chapter 22

Autumn

I let out a scream when everyone jumped out and the lights came on. Holding a hand over my heart it was beating so fast.

Dad was in front of me holding his hands up.

"Sorry Autumn we didn't mean to scare you," He says thank God I still had my implant in so I could hear him cause I was so startled I wouldn't be able to focus on my hands moving. Looking around I see a lot of people Kelly comes up next to me grabbing my arm.

Mom walks over smiling she hugs me.

"Hope you are not upset dear Mr. Reins decided to have us throw you a surprise party here so there would be more room,"

I didn't say anything I looked around seeing that they went all out for this whoever decorated did a great job it had smears hanging with lights and they even had a happy birthday banner. Tables were spread across the lawn there was a small dance floor with lights crisscrossing above it I noticed a full table of food on the one side then the other side had someone playing music.

I couldn't keep the smile off my face.

"It looks beautiful," I say

Just then Zach comes up hugging me wishing me a happy birthday.

A bunch of people came up wishing me happy birthday I didn't know who they were but I smiled and said thank you.

I see Mr. Keaton walk up to me I see he has a lady with him.

She was absolutely gorgeous tall slender long blonde hair. She seemed to be young looking.

She looked to be kind and the way she walks she was very confident.

I wonder if she is his wife he smiles at me I return the smile.

"Autumn let me introduce you to my wife, This is Sophie, Sophie this is Autumn,"

She extends her hand to me.

"It's lovely to me you,"

I take her hand, "Same to you,"

"Would you like us to introduce you to some of the other people?" She asked.

"Oh um sure that be great," I tell her I instantly felt comfortable with her.

She smiled taking my arm and looping it with hers.

She kisses Mr. Keaton on the cheek and then pulls me along with her.

I see Mr. Reins standing off to the side with Oscar and Nick. He smiles and then waves at me. I couldn't help but think back to this afternoon about my and Kelly's talk. I feel my face heat up feeling all flustered. I quickly look away before he notices my face. I walked around Sophie introduced me to a lot of people I don't even remember half of their names.

We stopped at one table four girls were sitting around it.

"Girls I'd like you to meet Autumn, Autumn, this is Morgan, Rachel, Lisa, and Torie," Sophie held her hand out to each girl.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you," I say with a small wave.

The one girl Morgan stood up holding her hand out to me,

"It's nice to meet you," I shake her telling her the same.

The other three just glared at me I think one even rolled her eyes. I hear a small noise but it was too low for me to make out I noticed the girls looking toward Sophie, I look over to her she just smiles at me. "Why don't we move on," Sophie says to me I nod my head looking back at the girls.

"I hope to see you around Autumn," Morgan says to me.

I just nod at her she smiles and waves.

Walking back over Sophie leans closer to me.

"Just ignore them, other girls they are stuck up,"

We both laugh at that.

Making our way back over to Mr. Keaton he steps up wrapping an arm around Sophie pulling her close to him. I see a small blush show on her cheeks.

Kelly comes up next to me.

"Hey, you want to get some food?"

"Yeah, I'm starving,"

She grabs my hand pulling me to the food table we grab plates loading them up making our way to an empty table.

I tell her about the three girls she rolls her eyes saying they are completely bitches.

Mom and dad along with Zach joined us at the table we all sat there laughing.

Sitting there the wind blew just a bit when I smell something that was like pine needles and rain. I squint my eyes looking to see if someone was close that had perfume or cologne on.

I feel a tap on my hand I look over seeing my dad getting my attention.

"What's wrong?" He asked with a confused look.

"Someone has a perfume or Cologne on and it smells good," I tell him

His face pales a little I see him swallow and then look at my mom. She had the same look as my dad.

"What? Why do you two have that look?"

Dad shakes his head a little.

"It's nothing sweetie,"

I was about to say something when Brad came over he asked Kelly to dance. She smiled taking his hand and walking with him to the small dance floor.

Zach stands up holding his hand out to me.

"Come on birthday girl," He says I smile grabbing his hand.

We go to the dance floor Zach spins me we begin to dance he's being a goof he starts acting like he's the one singing making faces as he sings making me laugh,

That smell from before hits my nose it's stronger this time I look around when Zach stops dancing turning my head back to face him I see Mr. Reins standing there. "May I cut in?" he says to Zach.

Zach smile stepping back he holds my hand out to him. I take a breath holding it in.

Mr. Reins takes my hand sliding his other one to the small of my back and pulling me closer to him.

He starts to move slowly my body moving with him like he was a magnet and I was stuck to him.

I felt tingles all up my arm from where he was holding my hand. I finally let the breath I was holding out taking in another from how nervous I was feeling when I smell that lovely smell again.

I then realized it was him it was his Cologne I closed my eyes taking another deep breath in.

When I open my eyes he was smiling at me. "Are you alright?" he asked me.

I didn't trust my voice right now so I settled for nodding my head.

"I hope you like the party,"

I nod my head again like an i***t who forgot to speak.

"I know I owe you an explanation for my actions earlier, "

"Yes," I managed to say lowly.

"Well, I would like to explain now if you want,"

I look up at him. "Sure,"

We top dancing he places my arm in the crook of his elbow he walks us off the floor I see my parents standing there with Zach.

We stop at them he lets go of my hand and he steps back a few steps he looks over at Zach nodded at him.

Zach nods back stepping out to stand next to him.

I feel an arm go around me I look and see it's my dad's arm.

"Autumn," Mr. Reins calls me.

I look at him.

"I need you to keep an open mind, once we show this we will explain everything to you as you will have lots of questions."

I scrunch my forehead I was confused at what he was saying I thought he was gonna tell me why he acted like that today.

"What?" I say to him.

He didn't reply he just closed his eye I'm not sure what happened next it happen so fast but standing there where he was just a few seconds ago stood a huge black wolf.

I didn't even get to let out a scream when Zach was replaced with a grey wolf.

And that's when everything went dark.
