Chapter 23

Autumn

Slowly I peeled open my eyes just a bit only to see a white ceiling.

I felt warmth on my hand with an ever-so-light tingle going through my whole hand.

I can also smell that cologne again. The smell makes me feel so calm with the warmth on my hand I could close my eyes and sleep again.

Rolling my head to the side I see someone sitting in a chair blinking a few times trying to make out who it was I move my head a bit to look around some more I noticed people on a couch along the far back wall. Where am I?

I look down at myself when finally my eyes adjust I see I'm in a hospital bed. I go to move my hand when I feel a small squeeze moving my eyes quickly I see Mr. Reins is the one holding my hand. I look back to the wall of people and see my parents and Zach all sitting on the couch.

Dad has his head tipped back while mom's head is laying on his shoulder and Zach is leaning over on the armrest all asleep.

What happen? Why was I in a hospital room and why is Mr. Reins holding my hand?

I reach over with my other hand I slowly try and pull my hand out of his but he only tightens it. When I try again his eyes fly open he looks straight at me.

His eyes meet mine he jumps from the chair.

I see his mouth moving but he's talking too fast. I hold my hand up making him stop. I point to my parents hoping he understands me.

I see him nod he lets go of my hand and walks closer nudging Zach's foot causing him to startle awake.

I don't know what was said but I see Mr. Reins point over his shoulder when Zach looks toward me I give a small wave.

He jumps up I assume yelling cause I see my parents jump awake. All of them leaped off the couch and rushed toward me.

I look at around at them they all had worried expressions on their faces.

Lifting my hand I began to sign.

"What happen?"

They all look at each other then the three look to the side following their move I see Mr. Reins standing there.

He nods his head at them I see dad look back at me he lifts his hands.

"Do you remember your birthday party?"

Birthday party? Oh, that's right they threw me a surprise party,

Shaking my head yes.

Dad starts again.

"What all do you remember?"

I don't answer right away I try and think back. I remember meeting Mr. Keaton's wife she introduced me to some people. Then I was with Kelly My parents and Zach we all sat and ate. Next, I was dancing with Zach, and then Mr, Reins cut in then... I felt my breath hitch I could feel my blood drain from my face.

It hit me the wolves!

I quickly signed to my dad,

"Wolves!" I point to Zach and then to Mr. Reins.

My breathing picked up my heart beating faster. Moving my hands again.

"They were wolves! I saw them they changed!"

My chest raised and fell as I kept breathing in harder.

Zach sucked a breath in while Mr. Reins looked calm.

Mom moves to grab my hand but I pull it away I see the hurt in her eyes.

She looks at dad with sadness on her face.

"There is a lot that we need to explain, but what you need to understand is we would never do anything to hurt you, yes we have kept a secret from you and we should never have, we really need you to understand all of this and hopefully you will forgive us as we thought we were doing the right thing,"

I see a single tear run down my father's cheek. My mother stepped next to him hugging him. I have only ever seen my father cry once that was when my brother died.

My heart ached at the sight of my father has always been my rock he is our family's strength.

Closing my eyes trying to calm myself when I feel a hand resting on my shoulder then a sudden calmness spread through me opening my eyes I look to see whose hand it is when I see It, Mr. Reins. Third person

I watched as he walked over took her from the other guy and began to dance with her. My blood boiled again for the second time today I was out front earlier when he came back with her in his truck. When they finally stepped out of the truck the way he held her hand and looked at her instantly made me mad.

Then he goes and throws this party for her!

When she was brought by our table earlier I wanted to rip her apart. Sophie had the nerve to scold me through the link. Ha as if I care what she says.

I have been trying hard to get his attention of him. How can this plain dull girl grab it?

Looking to the dance floor again I see him leading her off heading towards some other people.

They stop at a guy and a woman they must be her parents, I see the resemblance.

"Everyone stay where you are no one is to move, Alpha orders!"

I hear the beta call through the link.

What the hell is going on?

Suddenly I hear a scream we all stand trying to see.

There Alpha is in his wolf form along with another wolf that I don't recognize.

The girl goes completely limp the guy next to her grabs her before she hits the ground suddenly the Alpha howls.

It's a howl that happens when your mate is hurt.

Mate his mate that girl is his mate,

Dam it he found his mate!
