'Did you hear me Amber, Alpha Axel Wensworth is the one who will be visiting us this weekend". Iwas in Alpha Drakes office, trying to push back the memories and the feelings of heartbreak thatfollowed. I tried to contact Axel after I had found out about my pregnancy. We had been careful,using condoms every time. But our last time there was a tear in the condom. I was planning ongetting the morning after pill, but the packs gossip was in line behind me in the pharmacy. The nextday Axel started to ignore me and soon after he left. I was so heartbroken that I didn’t even think ofthe condom until I started feeling nauseas. Abortion isn't uncommon in the werewolf community,but in Alpha’s Alistair's pack women didn’t have much choice and abortion was forbidden. I don'tknow if it would have mattered if I had the choice, I knew what it felt like to be unwanted and Eliaswas loved from the first moment I felt his first kick. Before my parents found out I was pregnant Isend Axel a message to contact me asap. I got a message back the next week that said: “Don’t evercontact me again.’

I was finally able to think clearly, although I could feel my wolf being stressed out and in pain. Shehad been hiding in the back of my mind for some time, angry at me for not letting her out at night. Ilooked up at Alpha Drake and asked: “thank you for telling me Alpha.’ “Do you want to take sometime off work?" Alpha Drake asked me. I knew how thinly staffed we already were, Rosa was onmaternity leave and Wesley had just hurt his knee. “Would it be possible to work behind the scenesin the kitchen? I'll keep a low profile the rest of the weeks while he is here’. Alpha Drake thoughtabout it for a while “Are you sure? You can't avoid him forever, but I don’t want to force you to be soclose to him if you're not ready “. I was surprised by the kindness of his words, years of being in fearof your alpha are hard to unlearn. “Thank you so much Alpha, but I cant let my colleagues down. Idoubt Axel, uhm Alpha Axel even remembers me’. Alpha Drake must have thought otherwise,because he smiled and said: “Il am sure you made an impression, but what about Elias? Do you wantto keep him hidden as well?” When I arrived at the Cold Lake pack I was showing quite a bit, but Iwasn't planning on telling anyone the fathers identity. Axel might have had fun, but I fell in love andI would not betray him. I knew what his father would do if he ever found it his son had made acommon omega pregnant. But when Elias was born he looked nothing like Brian. Alpha Drake visitsevery pup that was born and he knew immediately that Elias was not Brian's. I explained then andthere the situation as best as I could, how Brian had protected me and how we helped each other.That Axel didn't want anything to do with me and that I feared his family. Alpha Drake understoodwhy, Alpha Alistair and he had never been friends and he knew the way he kept the Crimson Moonpack under his thumb.

“This is my chance to make allies with the Crimson Moon pack, one of the biggest packs of thecountry. Alpha Axel has been making some changes to the pack I've heard. Honestly anything mustbe better than his dad Alistair. Perhaps the apple didn't fall far from the tree, but I am willing to givehim a chance if it will help our pack. I won't force you to meet him or introduce Elias to him, butElias doesn't resemble Brian. If Alpha Axel sees Elias it won't be hard to put two and two together.It's your choice’.

After I thanked Alpha Drake I went down to the rest of the staff and asked if I could help out in thekitchen this time. I explained I wasn't feeling so well, but did not want to disappointment them bystaying home. Luckily it was no problem. I still had some time to prepare, to discuss everything withBrian and to explain to Elias that he should stay clear of any visitors coming this month. I just had tothink of a reason that a curious five year old would accept and understand.
