Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia) -
Chapter 1016
Trevor didn't expect such a high-end buffet restaurant to be packed. With the large crowd and the waiters around, he couldn't even replace a place to stand properly.
Trevor didn't bother giving the person on the other side of the phone a chance to speak, and he didn't bother listening to what they had to say either. He quickly put his phone away, then carried the plates as he excused himself from the crowd and returned to his seat
hurriedly.
Victoria wanted to get up and help him, but he ordered from afar, "Sit down..."
They've chosen a table at the corner, where it was already less crowded, but there were still numerous people walking around and cleaning up with a trolley cart. Trevor was worried that they were going to bump into her.
Victoria stopped her legs from moving, but still reached out her hands to take over the plates and the drinks. Even the kids got to run around, he was really treating her like a baby!
She put down the plates, then took a piece of tissue paper and handed it to him. "No wonder they have limited king crabs, it sure looks as good as they mentioned on the internet..."
She took half of the leg and started to bite on it joyfully. It was no wonder the buffet dinner costed 900 dollars per person. The cost of a king crab could probably reach thousands of dollars, and everyone was only allowed to redeem one portion of king crab, according to their cards. A portion of king crab was only about the amount of a leg, but it was already occupying a big plate!
Nevertheless, she had to admit that the expensive price the buffet restaurant charged was worth it. The food was delicious, and they looked exceptionally delicate as well. If they didn't visit that place, they wouldn't have known that there were so many wealthy people in Casterwich City!
Trevor said, "You should eat more of it if you like it! While it's still warm..."
Before he could put down the tissue paper, his cell phone began to ring again. Trevor was annoyed. Did they really have to interrupt his dinner?
"Hubby, you don't have to worry about me if you're busy, I'll still have to eat for some time anyways! We've already spent the money, we can't waste it..." She rarely had the chance to indulge in such luxury, although it was impossible for her to eat so much that she manages to breakeven! "All right, I'll go return the call then!" he said.
For the sake of safety, Trevor walked over to the other side. That time, it was a call from Selena. He answered the phone, then said.
"It's me, Nana!"
"Trevor, are you busy now? I'm sorry, I'm feeling a little... uncomfortable, erkhem... I've finished my medicine, can you help to send me more?" she said.
Selena sounded weak, and she panted profusely. Trevor could sense her pain and uneasiness through the phone.
"Why didn't you prepare more beforehand? I got it, tell Nina to help you up, I'll be on my way!" he said.
Trevor hung up in frustration. What was the hospital doing? Didn't he tell them to send her the medicine beforehand? How was it that she was short of the medicine then?
At the thought of her strange illness, Trevor felt helpless. He gave her primary care doctor a call.
"What? Are you overseas now? All right, I got it. I'll go pick it up!" he said.
As Trevor hung up, he felt helpless again. How did that happen? The doctor clearly said that he had prepared in advance two weeks worth of medicine for her. How did she finish it so soon? Didn't Nina have an extra bottle?
Just as Trevor had arranged for someone to pick up the medicine, he received many text messages one after another, all urging him to hurry up, and he felt irritated.
'When are you coming, Master Trevor? I'll open the door for you...' the first text message read.
'Miss Duff is feeling extremely uncomfortable...' the next read.
'She seems to be having a fever, you should bring some fever medicine for her too!' the next text message read.
'Master Trevor, Miss Duff seems to be in a bad condition, you should hurry up!' the fourth text message read.
'Master Trevor, Miss Duff misses you very much... You should come talk to her, she's been very depressed lately, and a little glum. I'm not sure if what's happening now has anything to do with this...' the next read. 'She didn't allow me to tell you about it, so please don't tell her that I'm the one who told you...' the sixth text message read.
As the notifications flashed across the screen, Trevor deleted the reply that he had drafted, and replied instead, "On my way!"
No matter what Nina had said in her text messages, the only thing that Trevor could think of at that moment was that Selena was taking advantage of her illness to order him around.
All of a sudden, Trevor recalled that
1.n?
it had happened many times during the past few years. Every time she was ill, he would stop everything he was doing and rush over to her. Every single time, no matter what he was busy with, he would only receive nonstop urging one after another, telling him to hurry over, as if her matters had to be his number one priority.
As he turned around, he started to feel a hint of reluctance.
As soon as Trevor returned to his seat, he saw that there were a few pieces of dumplings on his plate. There were slices of meat in the pot, and the crab legs had been dissected into huge pieces of crab meat. The different kinds of meat were placed neatly on his plate, ready for him to eat.
He was taken aback, and was in a daze for a while as he lifted his gaze. He saw Victoria adding a few more slices of meat into the pot of clear soup in front of him.
"Hubby, you won't have to bother about me if you're busy, but you have to eat still! I saw you having a long call. Are you going to be busy again? You didn't even get to eat! Hurry, you should eat some first..." she said.
Victoria thought of how he had been
busy serving her food and drinks
ever since they entered the
restaurant. When there wasn't such
a large crowd at first, he ber
around to take a look at the
delicacies. After that, he was the one fetching the food for her white she stayed on her seat and ate. He could finally enjoy some food in peace then, but he had to get busy again! Looking at his thin face, Victoria's heart ached.
Seeing that he was occupied by his cell phone, she could guess that he was going to be busy again!
Looking at his plate on the table and the meat cooking in the pot, Trevor felt a blow to his heart. Instead of getting busy, he picked up his cutlery.
"It's a small matter, I'll just arrange for someone else to deal with it!" he said.
At that instant, Trevor suddenly realized that Victoria was extremely different from Selena. She had just recovered from her injuries as well, and she was almost crippled at first. However, she had never pestered him because of some mild pain or discomfort, or requested for him to accompany her. Instead, she told him to take breaks or to focus on his work most of the time. Whenever she was able to do something on her own, she would do it on her own and rarely ever told him to help her with it!
They were two different people, with two different personalities, and they formed a strong contrast in Trevor's mind at that moment. Just then, he received another text message, but he couldn't be bothered to feel annoyed anymore.
They were indeed two very different people! They were experiencing similar matters, but they dealt with them with completely different methods. As compared to Selena, Victoria was much more kind and considerate.
It was no wonder he felt more comfortable when he was with her! She never requested for much, but for some reason, it made him want to give her more! As for Selena, she held onto everything that she had tightly. Perhaps it was because she used to be a lonely child, and she never had much. In the past, he used to think that it felt nice being needed by someone.
However, as they grew older and had more responsibilities, her ceaseless pestering was starting to stress him out like a lock that was locking him up, and it was suffocating him.
Hence, when comparing the both of them, his favor was inclined towards Victoria deep down in his heart!
After eating for a while, the screen of Trevor's cell phone lit up again, and he caught sight of the text message.
'When will you be arriving? Are you arriving soon? By the way, remember to bring me an ice cream!' the text message read.
Sure enough, she was exactly the same as she used to be.
At that moment, Trevor's phone lit up again, and he received another call. That time, he picked it up right away...
