Benson 109
Chapter 109 Emergency Call
“It’s not,” Benson replied, his voice low and powerful, as if trying to suppress some inner emotion.
He looked around the busy office lobby, aware that if someone took a photo, Miss Mary would go crazy.
He understood Yvonne’s concerns; she really didn’t want any rumors linking them, which would bring unnecessary trouble for her.
“Do you want to talk here?” Yvonne scoffed, her eyes showing a hint of disdain and vigilance, warning him not to discuss private matters here.
They eventually went to Benson’s office.
He sat on the sofa opposite her, his expression serious and calm, trying to convey his determination and stance. “I have no romantic feelings for Mary. Her child. He attempted to explain, but Yvonne didn’t give him the chance.
“I don’t care,” Yvonne interrupted him, her voice cold and firm, warning him not to interfere in her life.
She took out a contract from her bag, her eyes showing an undeniable resolve. “Mr. Raymond, I still hope to achieve this through my own efforts.”
Her tone carried a sense of finality, telling Benson that she preferred to face all the difficulties herself rather than accept any form of help from him.
Regardless of his sincerity or any other reasons, she refused to accept it.
Her attitude left Benson with a deep sense of helplessness.
Benson looked at her, recalling the night he approached Raymond.
George had also questioned why he was so harsh and unfeeling toward his wife.
He simply wanted to help her purely. Seeing her struggle, he chose to ignore it, which made him feel
terrible.
His heart was filled with contradictions and struggles, not knowing what to do.
“But you don’t have any top luxury brands to present,” Benson said, his voice tinged with helplessness and a plea for her to understand his good intentions.
“You’re right, but I still hope to achieve this through my own efforts… After all, if you rely on a mountain, it may collapse; if you rely on water, it may dry up.
If I wanted help, wouldn’t it be better to ask Chairman Charles than you?” Yvonne said, her tone filled with confidence and determination.
She had made it this far on her own. Even though it was difficult now, as long as she had time, others. would recognize her efforts
She didn’t want to say much. Since he chose Mary, there was no possibility between them.
Her eyes showed a firm and resolute look, telling Benson that she had made up her mind and would not change it.
Benson watched her departing figure, his eyes suddenly heavy.
His voice trembled slightly, “If Marcus came to me for this matter, would you still refuse this gesture of goodwill?”
Yvonne immediately turned around, her brows furrowed, and her eyes flashed with confusion and

caution. “What do you mean? Why bring him up now?”
Benson took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions
He slowly recounted, “Marcus has decided to take charge of the overseas market for the Thompson family. The destination is Atlanta, starting from Borken, Before leaving, he specifically came to talk to
me…
The memory became clearer. That day, Benson was playing golf with clients, the sun casting long shadows on the vast green,
Marcus appeared, holding a golf club, his face determined and his steps steady.
“Mr. Benson, can we play a round?” Marcus proposed calmly and firmly.
Although Marcus had never liked golf, considering it a lackluster sport, he was fully engaged at that moment.
During the game, although he was at a disadvantage, he showed extraordinary patience and steadiness, slowly catching up.
As the game ended, the sky turned a dusky yellow.
They sat on the soft grass, breathing the fresh, slightly chilly air, Marcus wiped the sweat from his forehead, his expression suddenly serious.
He looked directly at Benson, speaking steadily and seriously, “I’m using my departure in exchange for you to show her more care. Can you do that?”
Benson was shocked by this sudden request, feeling both helpless and pained.
He knew Marcus had deep feelings for Yvonne, and in this emotional game, he was clearly at a disadvantage.
“Marcus told me you’ve been having a tough time lately,” Benson’s voice was low and magnetic. “He left as a price, hoping I could help you with some brand issues.”
Benson paused, his deep gaze fixed on Yvonne, seemingly searching for answers in her reaction. His voice carried a hint of pain and reluctance. “If you don’t want to accept this help, it’s fine. I won’t mind.”
At this moment, Yvonne noticed an almost imperceptible flicker in Benson’s eyes, looking both regretful and sorrowful.
The air was filled with a subtle tension, as if every word carried the weight of unspoken emotional entanglements between them.
Yvonne turned back, picked up the contract from the small coffee table, and left.
In the afternoon, Yvonne didn’t return to the company but went to the Nevada State Prison.
Walking through the prison gates, her heart was filled with complex emotions.
Years ago, when the real estate market was booming her father had built a manor estate in an oxygen- rich area nestled in the hills.
It was a highly anticipated project, but a fire burned down the entire hill, affecting nearby villages. The person responsible was severely punished.
Her father–in–law, Charles, was very supportive and arranged the meeting. Someone had been appealing, claiming they were only hired to teach the Winstead family a lesson, not to set the fire.
However, all evidence pointed to them, and their appeals were always rejected.

Entering the visitation room, Yvonne saw the once arrogant and vicious person now with lifeless, numb eyes. Her heart surged with complex emotions, both anger and pity.
“You always claimed you didn’t start the fire, but my father and brother perished in that blaze.” Yvonne’s voice choked, her eyes flashing with sorrow.
The entire hill burned, and many nearby residents suffered.
The man lowered his head, silent for a moment before speaking slowly.
“I don’t know what happened. Maybe it was the cigarettes. The wind was strong that day, and it was easy for a fire to start. When I left… I think I heard arguing, a man saying. ‘What did you take?”
I
Yvonne’s heart leapt into her throat. “What else?” she asked urgently.
Her phone rang. It was a call from Susan. She frowned and answered, “Hello?”
“Yvonne, you need to come quickly. Your mother is in the hospital, arguing with someone, and had a relapse. Susan’s voice was anxious.
Yvonne’s heart sank. She hung up and immediately rushed to the hospital.
On the way, the news had already spread on her phone. In the video, Mary’s wheelchair was overturned and her mother was seen grabbing Mary’s head, slapping her frantically.
