Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) -
Chapter 110
Chapter 110
At this critical moment, Old Mr. Smith suddenly raised his walking stick and whacked Jane Smith on theleg.
Jane grimaced in pain. The excruciating pain made her knees go weak, and she fell to the ground in asorry state.
“Jane!” Mrs. Smith was appalled. Her heart ached as she rushed to help Jane up. “My baby, how areyou? Did you
hurt yourself?” –
Jane grabbed Mrs. Smith’s arm and wailed. “Mom, Grandpa doesn’t love me anymore. He hit me! Hehit me for an outsider!”
Her wailing resounded throughout the hall.
Everyone could not help but sigh.
Old Mr. Smith still had a gloomy expression. He bellowed, “What are you waiting for? Hurry up and takeher away. What a disgrace!”
Mrs. Smith was stunned for a moment. Then, she restrained her emotions and quickly left with Jane.
Jane growled indignantly, “Rachel Grey, just you wait, I… Ugh!”
Mrs. Smith was afraid that this stupid girl would cause trouble again. She hurriedly covered Jane’smouth and dragged her away.
Rachel watched the two leave with a hint of sarcasm in her eyes. Then she looked at Old Mr. Smithindifferently. “Do you intend to defend her?”
Anyone who wasn’t stupid could tell Old Mr. Smith’s intentions.
Old Mr. Smith had resolved Jane’s predicament with one whack of his stick. Jane wouldn’t. have tokneel now. Naturally, the Smith family would not lose face as well.
That was a clever move by Old Mr. Smith.
Old Mr. Smith’s expression was a little awkward. He kept rubbing the walking stick in his hand andpondered for a moment before calmly saying, “Jane Smith started the matter. In the end, she was theone who dug her own grave.”
As he spoke, he smiled embarrassingly. “Grandpa doesn’t expect you to forgive her. I hope you can lether off this time on my account.”
Even if Jane was not made to kneel and apologize today, it was enough to affect her reputation in theeyes of others.
Rachel patiently waited for the old man to finish speaking. The corners of her mouth. curled into a faintsmile as she said unhurriedly, “Today is your eightieth birthday. Since you’ve already spoken… Howwould I dare disobey you?”
Hearing this, Old Mr. Smith secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
But before he could let his guard down, he heard Rachel say, “But I can’t say the same for the others.”
Chapter 110
Old Mr. Smith was stunned. Rachel’s ironic smile had told him that she had no intentions to let thematter go.
He sighed slightly and looked at Rachel with a complicated expression. “Then… what will you do?”
He could use his seniority to plead for Jane’s pardon. But he couldn’t do so for the others…
It was highly likely that Rachel would not agree even if he did try.
In the end, those people behind him only had themselves to blame. They could have just stayed out ofthe matter but chose to involve themselves, refusing to let it go when they had the chance.
Rachel looked up at her second aunt and a few other relatives in the crowd. Her almond–shaped eyeswere filled with mockery, and her flat, unemotional voice was mixed with a hint of coldness. “Didn’t youall insist that this was a fake just now? Why are you all mute now?”
“Since you’re a member of Glamour Pavilion, why didn’t you tell us earlier? You’re plotting against us!”The Smith family’s second aunt rebutted.
When Mr. Griffin heard this, he looked up at her. There was a faint sarcasm in his eyes. “Who told youthat Miss Grey is a member of Glamour Pavilion?”
“You’re not a member?” The second aunt frowned, anger boiling inside her. “Rachel Grey, what exactlydo you mean? Are you toying with us?”
Before she could finish speaking, Mr. Griffin said casually, “She owns the entire Glamour Pavilion.”
His words were like a resounding slap to the faces of the Smith family and their elitist relatives.
