"Have you been in touch with Nina?" Freya asked, trying to help. "Now that they live so close, if anything's up, she'd probably be the first to know."

Micah did consider calling, but a quick check of the time and mental calculation of the time zone gave him pause. It was already late evening over there, and Nina and the kids were likely asleep. A call now would definitely disrupt their night. "Let's leave it for now. It's too late. I'll call her tomorrow around midday. You go get some rest. I'll be in the study tonight," he said, giving her a kiss.

The study desk was piled with files, all urgent work he had to finish tonight. By the time he was done, it would be the early hours, and with Freya's light sleep since her pregnancy, any attempt to slip into bed would almost certainly wake her. Sleeping in the study just made sense.

"And what time will you be going to bed?" Freya looked worried. "You have a big meeting tomorrow. Can't some of this wait?"

He shook his head, giving her the files for context. "Yesterday's earthquake in the southern region caused major damage. Many people have been displaced, and tomorrow's meeting is set to address this. If I don't get through all of this now, tomorrow's meeting will be stalled."

With his role, nobody would say anything if he delayed a day or two, but Micah couldn't stand the thought of doing that. He couldn't bear the idea of people suffering while he slept. Just closing his eyes brought their plight vividly to mind.

Understanding his resolve, Freya nodded. "Alright, I'll let you work. Just don't forget to drink the soup," she said before heading to bed.

Not wanting to take up more of Micah's time, Freya kept their conversation brief. A few more words would only keep him from finishing his work and getting some rest.

Back in their room, Freya sat on the soft bed, but sleep wouldn't come. She decided to handle a few tasks herself so Micah could relax after his meeting the next day.

They both worked late into the night, finally going to bed around dawn. Micah was up again after just a few hours, while Freya slept a bit longer. When she woke, it was already past ten, and he was still in his meeting.

She freshened up, pulled her hair back in a quick ponytail, and continued working, not taking a break until noon.

As she stood up, a wave of dizziness washed over her, and she had to grab the edge of the desk to steady herself, narrowly avoiding a fall. At first, she thought it would pass but the dizziness grew stronger, and before long, she collapsed

When Freya regained consciousness, she found herself in a hospital bed with Micah sitting beside her, his eyes red with worry.

"I'm fine," she reassured him, giving

him a lighthearted smile to ease his concern. "See? Nothing serious. Ie probably just skipped breakfast, and my blood sugar dropped. Really, I'm okay. You should get some rest now."
