The bodyguard behind quickly complied, opening the cage door with a rough tug and yanking Hope out.

She tried to resist, but the man slapped her hard, knocking her to the ground. Her head was spinning, and she couldn't utter a word.

"Enough noise," the man in the mask muttered, rubbing his temples. "Shadow One, what did you replace out from the investigation I assigned you?" "Micah is already in Birkham, and Nina and Nash are on their way," Shadow One reported, relaying all the intel he'd gathered.

The man in the mask nodded in satisfaction. "And the woman I asked you to prepare, is she ready?"

Receiving a confirmed answer, his lips curled into a smirk. It was time for the next act to begin.

Meanwhile, Nina and Nash had just landed after several hours in the air. As they moved toward baggage claim, a sudden commotion erupted ahead.

A throng of people surged toward their direction, causing Nash to instinctively grab Nina's hand. But the crowd was thick, pressing in from all sides, and in the chaos, their hands slipped apart. Gripping his suitcase, Nash scanned the faces around him, searching desperately for Nina. But all he saw were unfamiliar faces and Nina was nowhere in sight.

Nina, on her end, was also searching

anxiously. As she frantically searched for him, a figure in black approached her from behind. In a swift,

t, barely perceptible motion, he drew a syringe from his sleeve and

injected its contents into her.

The drug took effect almost instantly, and within seconds, Nina's head began to spin. She slumped backward, completely at the mercy of the man in black, who quickly whisked her away.

As soon as they left, the crowd dispersed, leaving Nash still scanning the area, unaware of Nina's disappearance. He reached for his phone to call her when a familiar voice behind him said, "Nash, I'm here."

He turned to see 'Nina' standing

right behind him, but a heavy feeling

settled in his chest. The woman in front of him looked exactly like Nina. Anyone else would have mistaken

her for Nina at first glance. But not

Nash.

BUMS

He and Nina shared two children and knew each other inside and out. There was no way he would confuse her with this impostor.

Her sudden appearance, coupled

with Nina's unexplained

disappearance, made it clear that the Shadow Organization was likely involved. Rather than exposing the deception immediately, Nash decided to play along, hoping to

draw out some informatio

from

this look-alike.

He approached her calmly. "Where did you go just now?"

"I got pushed over there," she said, giving him a smile. "Nash, let's replace a hotel for the night."

The woman's mimicry was impressive. Even her smile mirrored Nina's perfectly, down to the slightest detail.

Nash took a step back, dodging her attempt at physical contact. "I already booked us a hotel. Let's head there directly."

"Nash, when we get to the hotel, let's call the kids. I miss them," she said, attempting to seal her role as Nina by mentioning the children, assuming a mother would be longing to check in on her kids.
