Chapter 61
"Here we are." The driver that drove them to school alerted them when they crossed the gates and entered the school premises. Quincy threw his face outside the window excitedly as he sexualized the ladies that passed by him. His white hair that had a tint of black glowed as the sun reflected through them. "So this is what a school looks like?" Asher blurted out in surprise. They had spent their entire childhood and adulthood growing up in the woods along with their kind so it baffled them that a world like this existed on his own. Everyone looked like them but the only difference was that they were mere mortals.
Overtime, they had heard stories about how the humans tried to hunt down their kind for scientific purposes and that was why the rule to stay away from them was enforced. They won't be here for long though. The plan was to replace Amery and get her back with them at all costs. "And Amery goes to school here?" Quincy inquired, his eyes popping as he bit down his lips corkily.
"I cannot say prin....I mean Quincy." The driver corrected himself. "I have lived here for a very long time and one thing that I have come to realize is that there are many schools situated in different area. It's like a each place has a pack of their own." "That's amazing. Just like we have over seven kingdoms in our world. Fascinating, isn't it Levi?" He directed the question to his elder brother who remained quiet as though he had not heard him. His hands were folded across his chest and his left leg sat firmly on his right as he threw his face outside to avoid speaking to either of them.
"You're right Quincy." The driver answered on his behalf.
.
"They look so much like us" It was Asher's voice that spoke up this time around.
"They do but very different. Humans are very weak and most times gullible. You'd be surprised at how stupid they could be sometimes." The driver commented while they all looked on.
The car came to a halt at the parking space that was reserved for them.
"Damien asked me to tell you that you're supposed to meet me out here when the day is over. I'll drive you home afterwards. Have a great day."
"Thanks man." Asher patted him on his shoulder and he inclined his head in respect.
They stepped down immediately and all eyes were focused on them as they became the new center of attraction. Shocked and surprised gasps flew from the lips of everyone around them.
"Remember what Damien said?" Asher looked between his brothers. "Try to blend in and don't do anything stupid to raise suspicion especially you Levi. You can be very unpredictable when you want to."
Levi rolled his eyes and adjusted his bag before heading inside. They made their way through the hallways and straight to the principal's office where they were introduced.
"Welcome to our high school. I've heard a lot of things about you from your uncle and it's an honor to have you study here with us." She welcomed them warmly before handing them a sheet of paper. Asher noted that Damien had told him earlier that he registered them as his nephew. That would explain why she addressed him as their uncle. If only she knew that they were far from what she thought they were.
"What's this?" Quincy asked looking dumbfounded.
"Your schedule. It tells you which class you have to attend and when. You also gave extracurricular activities as well and judging by the time, you're thirty minutes late for your first class. I'll have the teacher in charge take you there." She told them with a smile before leading them outside her office towards the teacher's lounge where they were to meet their supposed teacher. She got in, leaving them outside to wait for her return.
"The human world has a lot of rules. Damn!" Quincy whined in complaint. He wasn't used to people ordering or bossing him around. That was his thing and now he had to stay quiet and watch someone else do it to him.
"I don't think that I'd survive in this place." He straightened his shirt as his eyes took in his new environment. It doesn't have the dusty and earthy feeling of the woods where he grew up in. They really were far away from home.
Levi chuckled with a cynical smile. "Your brother wanted us to come here so that he would replace his beloved trophy that he had lost. The least you could do is remain sane while he completes his mission."
Asher grumbled in anger. He could feel the smoke coming out of his ears in waves. "Says the wolfless boy who led us into this insane mission In the first place. At least, it's safe to say that I have one thing that you don't have." "Cut it out. Both of you." Quincy chided them. "This is not the time and neither is it the place to showcase your stupidity."
"And here they are." The woman who addressed herself as their principal introduced them to a scrawny looking teacher that looked like his life force had been squeezed out of him.
"This is your teacher, Mr Davies. He'll take it from here." And with that being said, she walked away from them.
"This way please" The teacher led them away while they trailed behind him. They arrived at a closed class and he walked inside.
"I don't think that-" Asher stopped talking immediately when he felt his wolf stir inside him. At first he didn't want to believe that something like this would ever happen but it did. He hasn't felt like this for the past six days and now, he felt like all the nerves inside him were coming alive. Only Amery had that sort of effect on him. Only she was able to trigger his wolf in this manner. She wasn't dead as they had feared. She was alive.
"She's here." Quincy took the words out of his mouth and that's when he realized that he had not been imagining things.
"Did you feel it too?"
Quincy nodded his head viciously. "It felt strange but I know that it's definitely her. It's Amery. Amery is here."
Levi felt his heart beat quicken. His wolf didn't react like that of his brothers but he definitely felt the connection between them. He frowned angrily. He had wished and hoped that they would never replace her. He had wanted his brothers to come back to their senses and give up so that they would go back to their realm but he knew that his hopes had been dashed because now, they had found a flicker of hope that she was alive.
Why didn't she just die? Why did she have to survive? She had ruined his life, his wolf had gone dead inside him because of her. All his plans had gone down the drain and she had caused a strain in his relationship with his brothers and as if it wasn't enough, she still didn't die.
Now he has to go through the painful experience of watching his brothers fawn over her just like they had did before. The thought of it repeating had him clenching his hands beside him. He's not about to stop now. He would make sure to ruin her live just like she had done to him.
When the teacher ushered them into the classroom, they all locked eyes with each other at the exact same time.
They saw the pain and underlying anger that flashed through her eyes before she averted her gaze as if she didn't recognize them.
"You don't think she-"
"I don't know." Asher interrupted him. He didn't want to believe that she had forgotten about them. There's no way in the goddess name that she didn't recognize them. The way she looked at them was more than enough proof that she knew who they were. Levi darted his eyes towards her direction. The more he looked at her, the more his affection surpassed his anger and knowing that he still felt something for her, made him upset. He was supposed to hate her but why can't he?
They introduced themselves to the class and Quincy beat them by taking the empty seat next to her. Asher fumbled in anger and took the other spare seat next to the girl who had welcomed them earlier but his eyes were fixed on Amery. Why wasn't she looking at them? Why wasn't she smiling like she normally does? Why does she look pale as if she had just seen a ghost. In his defense, he had never hurt her and had tried his very best to save her so why wasn't she at least happy to see him? Did something happen to her when she disappeared to this side of the world and is that why she was acting cold towards them? He would need to replace a way to fix this. He had lost her once and was not prepared to go through it for a second time.
