Her Burning Desire
Chapter 29

Melony

Theodore held my hand as we ran through the forest to the meadow. It was a sight to die for. Colors were splashed all around with beautiful wild flowers. "This is gorgeous.." I looked around in awe.

"It's one of my favorite places in our territory. My mother used to bring me here when I was little. She said nothing could ever be more beautiful than nature itself. I always agreed with that until my eyes met yours. Since then, I have a hard time believing that anything is more beautiful than you." I felt my cheeks heat up at his words. "Why don't we shift? Jackson is going to give me a headache if I don't let him meet his mate soon." I agreed, so we started to strip our clothes off to allow our wolves to take over. I have to admit I was super nervous. Besides my mother and father, no one had ever seen Harper before.

Calm down Melony, everything will be fine. They are our mates. We have made it this far, and with everything thrown our way, they haven't left yet. Besides, we're gorgeous. He would be an i***t to think anything less.

Your right. Let's do this. With the reassurance from my wolf, I relaxed my body and let Harper completely take over. I could hear the sounds of cracking and popping bones. I was surprised when I didn't feel any pain. I don't get to shift very often, so it slightly hurts when I usually do. When the noises stopped and Harper opened her eyes, I was looking down at the shinny white fur on our paws. We looked up and standing before us was Jackson. He was a midnight black wolf, and huge in size. Because Harper had always been a bigger wolf, we still stood almost as tall as Jackson. Jackson was still bigger than the average Alpha though. I would say I was as big as the average Alpha. Harper met Jackson's eyes and they showed nothing but love. Jackson made his way over to us and rubbed his head along the side of Harpers head. She was doing the same thing back to him before she quickly licked his snout. "Melony, Harper is beautiful. Jackson is in love with her." Theodore said through our link. Harper loves him also. We're both very happy to love our mates. Harper froze. Did I just tell him I loved him? So dumb Melony, I mentally chastise myself. First time you tell him you love him and it's through a mind link. "Melony, stop. Your overthinking again. I love you too."

I could practically jump up and down with joy when he said it back. Enough with the sappiness, Harper needs to run and release her pent up energy. Alright Alpha, Let's see what you got, shall we? Harper ran up to Jackson, nipping at him before taking off running in a different direction. I could hear Jackson's paws gaining up on us. For several hours, we just ran around playing with each other. Rolling around in the meadow, we chased some butterflies, and halfway through, our wolves even took a break to get to know each other better. Watching their intimate moment with each other wasn't something I wasn't too keen on. To pass that time, Theodore and I just had our own conversation. Now we were headed back to our clothes so we could shift and head back to the Pack house to get ready for dinner.

We were about 50 feet from our clothes when we heard the rustle of bushes and snapping of twigs. We both stopped, and our ears perked up. It wasn't long before the awful smell of rouge hit us both in the face and standing before us were about 10 of them. I knew what they were here for. I knew they were coming for me. My heart was pounding in my chest. I had never been in a fight before. Sure, my dad has taught me how to defend myself, but I never got full on training with other wolves. They slowly made their way to us, Theodore jumped in front of me growling and showing his teeth. They started to make their way closer, snapping their jaws at us. "Melony! RUN! Get out of here now! I linked Mark to meet up with you! GO!"

I hesitated. I turned to run to the packhouse and to replace Mark, when I heard the sound of tearing flesh and bones cracking. I looked back and Theodore had one of the rouges by the neck and he just snapped it as he threw it to the ground, and fought off two more. He was still surrounded by 7 more. If I left him, he wouldn't stand a chance. I was NOT leaving my mate here to die while I ran away! I ran as fast as I could when I saw one of the rouges attacking Theo from the side, aiming right at his neck. I jumped and had just got my jaws locked around its neck in time to save my mate. I shook my head once and snapped his neck, throwing him to the side. I am NOT leaving you here alone to die, Theodore. Not happening.

Jackson snapped his head toward me when I said that. Growling at me, he tried to use his Alpha command. "MELONY! LEAVE RIGHT NOW!"

Absolutely not, Mate. Your commands don't work on me. Now, keep fighting so we can go home. I am NOT leaving you. Theodore let out another threatening growl at me, but stopped when he realized I wasn't budging. I had a rouge come up behind me and bit my back leg. He broke through the skin but it would heal very quickly. I turned around to attack when Theo already had him by the neck. I set my eyes on another one that was coming right for me. We circled each other and eventually he made his move. He tried to come at me low, so I jumped high, landing on his back and ripping into his side. I weakened him enough that his next move was sloppy and I ripped out his throat. We were down to 4 when I heard another wolf approaching. It was a pretty gray color and looking at his bright hazel eyes, I knew exactly who the wolf belonged to. Mark

With Mark there to help, all 3 of us made it through the rest of the rouge's in no time. The very last one we had cornered and Theodore used his Alpha command after he shifted to make the vile creature shift back to his human form. Mark and I followed suit and I quickly grabbed Thedore's shirt to slip over me. Theo now had the rouge by the throat pinned up against a tree. "Why are you here?! Who sent you here?!" Theo was asking.

"I think you know exactly why we are here, Alpha. We simply want something that belongs to you, and my oh my, is she more gorgeous than we were told? She's very pretty, Alpha Nix. So pretty I think my boss is really going to enjoy himself once he gets his hands on her." The rough spoke back with a c**ky smirk on his face.

GO!"

I was resisting the urge to vomit, when Theodore spoke again. "Your boss will NEVER lay a finger on my mate. I will tear him to shreds, and if you like having your eye balls, I suggest you keep your eyes on me." he was seething with rage. "Now, Who is your boss!?" The slime ball refused to answer. Two of our warriors showed up with cuffs when Theodore threw him toward the ground and told the warriors to take him to the dungeons. I grabbed our clothes and tossed Theo his pants to put on, while Mark had found a pair of gym shorts to wear. As I was getting ready to head back to packhouse Theos' voice stopped me. "And what exactly do you think you were doing by disobeying me?! I told you to go replace Mark!" His hands were clenched at his sides.

As I was getting ready to answer, I heard a mocking 'OHHH" come from Marks' direction. "Disobey?! Are you kidding me?! I am your MATE, your EQUAL Theodore. I am not something you can just command and do with as you please. Your commands don't work on me!" I yelled at him, throwing my arms out.

"Yeah and she did replace me, see I'm right here!" Mark said proudly. I squinted my eyes at him.

Theodore's jaw was clamped tight. "They were after you Melony! They were coming for you! You don't get to stay and fight when I tell you that you need to leave. Besides, how much training have you had, Melony?! You could have been seriously hurt, or even worse, die, and there would have been nothing I could do about it!"

"The exact reason your yelling at me for not leaving is the exact reason I stayed! You could have died and there would have been nothing for me to do about it, Thedore! There were 10 of them, and just you! You want to talk about my training?! My training came in handy when I saved your life from the rouge that was about to tear your throat out!" Now I was starting to see red.

Another remark came from Mark, "Oooo..She has a point." When me and Theo both turned to him at the same time shouting, "SHUT UP MARK!", Mark put his head down and walked off sulking like a child who just got caught stealing a cookie. I turned my attention back to Theodore.

"You can sit here and continue to be mad at me and yell at me like a child being grounded all you want. I WILL NOT apologize for having your back and staying to fight for you! For me! OR for US! I am either your equal in this life we share and will be treated as such, or I will not be sharing this life with you at all." I saw Theodore flinch at my last words. "Now, if you will excuse me, I am not going to continue standing here arguing about something that you clearly need to move on from, and when you do move on from it you can come and replace me. Until then, leave me alone. I am going to go now and wash off this blood and dirt from myself." Without giving him a chance to reply, I stormed off to the packhouse headed to take a shower.
