Xavier’s POV

I got out of the shower and walked into Celeste’s and my room to change only to see Delian there, tears streaming down her little cheeks.

“Delian? What are you doing in here?” She broke out into tears and I sighed. I needed to get back to Celeste. I was able to tell that she was still shaken up and I wanted to be by her side right now. “Why don’t you go sit down Delian?” She nodded and went to sit down on the bed while I went to put pants and a shirt on.

When I walked back out Delian’s face was covered in tears and strands of hair were sticking to her cheeks. I walk over to her and kneel in front of her.

“What’s wrong?”

“I-I’m really s-sorry Alpha,” she cries out.

“What are you sorry for?” Something was obviously making her really upset and I know Celeste wouldn’t like that. She was quite fond of Delian.

“It’s all my fault!” My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. I put a hand on her arm and she looked at me with her teary blue eyes. “Please don’t punish me Alpha! I’m so sorry!” She threw her small arms around me and cried into my shirt, her sobs echoing around the room.

“Delian,” I said softly and rubbed her back in a comforting matter. “I need you to calm down. Can you do that for me?” She nodded into my shoulder and took a few breaths. “Now tell me what happened.”

“The rogues,” I stiffened. There were a few people in my pack who I really didn’t want to be in contact with the rogues and Delian was one of them, along with Celeste and my sister.

“What did they do, Delian?” She shook her head and didn’t answer. “Come on Delian, it’ll be alright.” She nodded her head.

“They said that if I didn’t do what they said that they would hurt Mommy.” s**t.

Jared, take a warrior or two with you and get to the hospital. Don’t leave your mate unguarded, I mind linked Jared.

What’s going on? His voice sounds panicked. Did something happen to Delian?

She’s fine. I’ll have Zay watch her for you, now go. I block everyone through the mind link so I can pay attention to Delian.

“What did they tell you to do Delian?” I swear to the goddess, if they hurt her I would make their deaths more painful than I originally planned.

“They told me to take the Luna out to the woods.” My breath caught in my throat. Celeste.

“Delian, did you listen to them?” She broke out into tears again.

“I’m so sorry Alpha! They said that they would hurt Mommy! I’m sorry!” I held her closer, trying to calm her down.

“Delian, where did you take her? I need to know so I can replace her.” I had to tell myself to stay calm. My wolf wanted to kill someone, Delian included. Delian mumbled where and I ran out the door. I dropped Delian off at Zay’s office and left without an explanation.

Josh, meet me outside of the pack house now!

I got to where Delian said Celeste was but I didn’t go into the woods until Josh got there. I ran a hand through my hair and started to pace back and forth.

They had her. The rogues had her. They had my Celeste. She isn’t strong enough for this to happen to her. I need to replace her now.

“Xavier?” I snapped my eyes up to see Josh. “What’s wrong?”

“The rogues.” I take a deep breath. “They- they, um, they have her. They took her and I- I need her back.” I was starting to rush the words out of my mouth. My mind was starting to go blank on all thoughts but Celeste and the damn rogues that I wanted to s*******r. I wanted their b***d to be spilled in front of them and every rogue in the world to show them that they shouldn’t mess with me.

“Xavier calm down and tell me what you are trying to say.” I nodded and closed my eyes. I let the happy thoughts that I had of Celeste calm me down.

“The rogues took Celeste.” His eyes widened.

“Don’t worry, we’ll replace her.” We walked into the woods, following Celeste’s scent.

What if we don’t replace her? What if I never see her again? What if we never get the future that I wanted with her so much?

“Xavier, stop.” I looked at Josh. “I can tell what you are thinking. Stop those thoughts. I said we’ll replace her and I’ve never let you down before.” I smiled at him, but I could barely manage a small one. Celeste was my reason to smile and she wasn’t here.

Josh went behind a tree to shift, since he is better at tracking in wolf form. I was too distracted to pay attention to what he was doing. I was desperately hoping that maybe she got away and was hiding, waiting for me to replace her.

I looked up when I heard Josh whine. He was a bit farther ahead of me. I walked up to him and he nudged an object closer to me. I crouched down and picked it up. It was a rock covered in b***d. Celeste’s b***d.

I lost control.

I could feel my wolf take control of me as shifted, not caring about my clothes. He ran off, managing to push anything that was in our paths to the round. At some point he jumped and hit a tree, and while it was smaller than the rest he made it fall to the ground. When he jumped on a boulder it cracked beneath our paws.

I could hear Josh behind me, howling for me to stop running. I could hear him through the pack wide mind link saying that he needed help and that I had lost control. I could hear him saying I wouldn’t stop running.

I didn’t plan on stopping but then, I blacked out.
