Chapter 94

But Andrew's somber expression frightened her. She quickly nodded. "I'll undergo the checkup, then."

She had been insisting that she was fine earlier but changed her stance in a heartbeat. Clearly, she was afraid.

Andrew chuckled. "Alright, we'll get the best doctor for the checkup."

He hadn't realized before how much she actually valued her life. Judging by how fearless she was when she argued with him, he thought she was always bold. Having slept all day, Madelyn couldn't sleep now. She racked her brain to remember when she might have injured herself. Why couldn't she remember at all?

If she hadn't been injured, nothing could explain the blood

clots that existed in her brain.

Endless questions kept her up the entire night.

In contrast, Andrew slept soundly. He'd been exhausted from the long week, so even her tossing and turning didn't rouse him.

The next morning, Andrew carried Madelyn downstairs. As soon as they settled down for breakfast, a phone call from the Miller residence came.

"Andrew, come back right away. Bring Maddie with you,"

Athena said,

Sensing the graveness in Athena's tone, Madelyn glanced at Andrew.

He met her gaze with a frown. Staring at the thick bandage on her forehead, he replied, "We'll go back in the afternoon."

"I'll wait for you."

Andrew hummed in acknowledgment and hung up promptly.

Madelyn was aware that Elijah was involved in the incident in Lotivale. Now that Athena had called, things might be more than what they seemed on the surface.

Though what happened back then was disappointing, Elijah was still Athena's eldest grandson.

Andrew didn't take Madelyn to the Miller residence right away. He changed her dressing in the morning and had her undergo

a series of tests.

The specialist finally confirmed that the blood clots didn't affect the vital areas in her brain, so surgery wasn't necessary.

Still, she had to be cautious to prevent catching colds. Apart from that, her condition wasn't a major issue.

Andrew breathed a sigh of relief, and so did Madelyn. The idea of undergoing head surgery was daunting, after all.

Sensing his relief, Madelyn chuckled. "Are you reassured now?"

He pulled her into his embrace. "The doctor said you still have

to be careful."

The doctor had also suggested consulting a skilled alternative medicine practitioner for further treatment, which Andrew noted down.

"No wonder I used to get headaches whenever I have colds," Madelyn remarked.

"Do you really not remember when you were injured?" Andrew

asked.

He had seen the X-rays. Although the blood clots weren't large, there were several of them, a sign of her suffering a serious injury from the past.

-Madelyn shook her head. "I really don't remember!"

She was telling the truth, but Andrew frowned nonetheless.

Usually, one would remember such significant events, but she couldn't even recall how she got injured. Could it be that she'd lost her memories due to the injury?

But seeing how relaxed Madelyn looked now, Andrew decided not to press any further.

Andrew took Madelyn to the Miller residence in the afternoon. Dressed in a fluffy pink dress designed by Andrew himself, she

looked as adorable as a doll.

The moment they got out of their car, they saw Natalie kneeling at the door. Her face was clad in sweat under the scorching sun, and she looked far from the glamorous image she portrayed on screen. Chapt

Hatred flashed in her eyes when she saw Madelyn in Andrew's arms. She quickly lowered her head, not wanting him to sense her emotions.

"Andrew," she whimpered.

Yet, Andrew didn't even spare her a glance. He strode past her swiftly with Madelyn.

A stab of coldness pierced through Natalie. She'd never

expected that she would lose everything because of a single notion or action.

Why did the Millers still treat Madelyn so well despite everything she had done?

Natalie was a Miller by blood, not Madelyn!
