Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 42

The Dark Moon pack, California

Emma

The day Blake exposed my lies, I left the packhouse in fear. His demeanour scared the sh.it out of me. I didn’t know what stopped him from killing me on the spot, but whatever it was, I was grateful for it.

I hid in my house and didn’t reply to anyone’s calls, not even Timothy’s, which were work-related. I didn’t want to see or talk to anyone. I felt embarrassed to tell Timothy what happened between Blake and me.

Tim was a mutual friend who had supported my relationship with Blake. When Natalia happened though, he was the first to tell me I should forget about Blake and continue with my life.

He was loyal to our Alpha and wanted him to be happy. He, therefore, supported our Alpha’s wedding to Natalia and warned me not to do anything stupid that would put their relationship in danger. Or else he would forget about our friendship and he would not protect me from Blake’s wrath.

How was I supposed to tell Timothy what I did? He would never talk to me again, and would not support or help me if Blake and Natalia punished me for my lies.

I never expected to get exposed like that. That man, Drake, assured me on the phone that by the time my lie got exposed, I would have Blake all to myself and he would help me get pregnant for real, giving me a magic potion.

How stupid of me to trust him at Blake and Natalia’s mating ceremony. He promised me so many things that night and I believed him.

And here I was, stuck inside my house, unable, embarrassed and afraid to show my face. I knew that when Natalia found out what I had done, she would not spare me.

A knock on my door made me jump in surprise. Who was looking for me? My heart leapt inside my chest as I approached the entrance. I checked who it was and saw an angry Timothy staring ahead.

I could not avoid my boss. I opened the door for him, and without saying a word, I let him inside the house and proceeded to the kitchen, taking a seat at the table.

I stayed quiet and didn’t dare look at Timothy. I had my eyes glued to my fidgeting hands.

“What were you thinking, telling a lie like that, Emma? What good did it do you? Have you realised what trouble you’re in as we speak? Our Luna will shred you into tiny pieces when she returns, and no one will blame her for doing so. Why didn’t you follow my advice and avoid Blake and Natalia? Blake will never be yours. Get over him for crying out loud!”

Timothy had lost his temper and was shouting at me. He picked me up from the chair and shook me by the shoulders.

I was crying silently, but that didn’t stop Tim. He was so angry with me because of my lie that nothing else mattered to him.

“You threw yourself in a sh.it hole and this time I am going to leave you there. I warned you, Emma. I told you not to do anything stupid. You never listen to me though. Whatever happens to you in the future will be because of your stubbornness and stupidity.”

Letting me go, he turned and walked out of my house, banging on the door on his way out.

I stood where he left me, shaking, unable to process what had just happened. Timothy had just given up on me like he said he would. I would have to deal with Blake’s and Natalia’s anger alone. How did I get into so much trouble? I considered myself a smart woman and look where my vanity had led me.

I needed to call that Drake guy and tell him I was no longer a part of his stupid plans. We hadn’t even started yet and I was already in trouble because of him. Yes, that was what I would do, I thought, and picked up my phone and started typing a message to the short, ugly guy who had gotten me into so much trouble. That jerk!

I pressed the “send’ button and got the message delivered to its recipient. Not long after, my phone screen lit up and a reply from that man appeared on the screen.

I opened it to read the text and my feet couldn’t hold me any longer. I sat on the chair with a blank stare and eyes full of tears.

Ace Johnson

I was in my secret warehouse when Drake called me to announce his decision to abandon his plans to take over the reins from his brother and his father-in-law.

I tried to convince him otherwise but the jerk insisted, ruining my plans to take over after the attack and become the Alpha of two more packs.

I was furious with Drake. How could he do that to me? The new ammunition had cost a fortune, and now Drake wanted nothing to do with it.

What did he take me for? His clown?

I wracked my brain to replace a solution and decided I should inform the rogue team leaders who followed and executed Drake’s orders as the rogues’ leader. I made some calls and arranged an appointment with them the same day, pointing out the urgency of the meeting.

I had been working with them for many years, supplying their army with guns and bullets, so it wasn’t difficult to persuade them to show up. They trusted me.

“What is the problem, Ace? And why isn’t Drake with you?” the oldest rogue, Mat, asked.

“Drake is the problem, Mat. He resigned from his position as your leader. He wants nothing to do with any future rogue attacks from now on, nor is he interested in taking over the Alpha position from his brother,” I scoffed.

“What? Is this one of Drake’s jokes?” Mat asked, unable to believe what I said.

“I wish it was a joke, Mat. He was dead serious on the phone,” I replied, nervously running my hands through my hair.

“How can he say that? We are in the middle of achieving our goal and he gives up? What is wrong with him?” Mat roared and so did the rest of the rogues who had gathered for the meeting.

“I wish I knew, Mat. The only thing Drake mentioned was his pregnant wife and unborn child. He is doing it for them.” My answer caused an uproar of protests and angry growls.

“Does that mean that we have to change our plans?” Another rogue asked, and Mat huffed.

“Like he. ll it does. The problem is that we will have to convince the rest of the rogues to continue without Drake,” I replied, and everyone stared at me.

“What?” I said when I saw them looking at one another, doubt in their eyes.

“Ace, rogues are not so easy to control and they won’t follow the orders of any random guy. The only person who achieved that was Drake. Something about him and his aura inspired the rogues and made them follow his lead. Without him, things would not be the same,” Mat informed me and the rest of the rogues agreed with him.

That fucker! I was so angry with him. He had ruined my plans with his refusal to continue. Drake was the only one who knew the Dark Moon pack well enough to replace a loophole in the protection system Blake ran and enable us to attack and win.

Take it easy, Ace. The rogues don’t know your plans. Don’t expose yourself, I thought and took deep breaths; I tried to calm down.

“Why don’t we try to see their reaction? What if we tell them we should attack without Drake, who is unavailable for personal reasons?” I suggested, and Mat laughed.

“We could try Ace, but I believe I already know the reply to that,” he said, and the rest agreed with him.

“Okay then, let’s set up a meeting for tomorrow at the same time and same place and we will see how to proceed, depending on the reply you will get,” I suggested and the rogue team leaders nodded in acceptance.

I spent the rest of the day cursing Drake, who had spoiled my plans. If the rogues refused to continue without him, everything would go down the drain.

My father noticed my uneasiness and asked me what my problem was. He was the one I took out all of my anger on. We never had a good relationship anyway, and it pleased me to see him suffer my verbal abuse.

The following day, I walked on pins and needles until my scheduled meeting with the rogue team leaders. I couldn’t quell my anxiety and I fought with whoever tried to discuss various matters.

I was the first to arrive at the meeting point and waited impatiently for the rogues to appear. When they came, I knew by their looks that things had not turned out as I expected.

“Well?” I asked and Mat shook his head in denial.

“It’s not happening, Ace. When I told them that Drake would not be part of the operation, they all refused to follow us and attack Blake Hunter’s pack.”

“Fuc.k! We need to think about how we can force Drake to take part in the attack,” I growled.

My phone buzzed, interrupting my thoughts. I picked it up irritated, and a message from Emma popped up.

“Blake found out I was lying about the pregnancy and I was lucky he didn’t kill me. The plan didn’t go as I thought it would. I will not be part of this anymore. I am sorry. If Blake replaces out, he won’t spare me. All I can tell you is that Luna is on a trip now. Please do not get in touch with me again.”

That bit.ch. How dare she back off because Blake found out she was not pregnant? Our Plan A failed. So what? There was always Plan B.

“Don’t you dare back off on me, Emma! Or I swear Blake will replace out that you agreed to conspire with me. You will obey my every order and inform me when asked about your Alpha’s movements. Is that clear?” I texted and pressed the send button. I got an okay as her reply.

“I just thought about how we can force Drake to lead the attack,” I proudly announced, and the rogues looked at me curiously.

A broad, evil grin appeared on my face. Placing my phone on the table, I started explaining.

“Well, let’s see…”
