Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 44
Isola, Italy
Elisa
I left the apartment and drove to the seaside. The sound of the waves kissing the shore would help me relax and clear my mind.
I would keep the baby. I trusted Natalia when she told me she would help me get through the pregnancy safely. Massimo or no Massimo, I would bring my baby to life and take care of it. It might be a special baby, but I would do whatever it took to raise it well.
I took my shoes off and walked in the sand until the cold waves covered my toes. Blake’s face, full of concern and love for Natalia after she fainted, stayed imprinted in my mind and I couldn’t think of anything else.
That was how Massimo and I were supposed to be, not two strangers biting each other’s heads off. I closed my eyes and Massimo’s face came to mind. He didn’t even bother to call me and see how I was doing after he left in such a hurry that day.
“I may just as well forget your papa, baby,” I whispered, touching my belly, my fingers tracing small circles around my belly button.
“It will just be the two of us,” I continued and wiped my tears.
I sat gazing at the blue horizon, thinking of what to do.
I needed to get out of there. I didn’t want to see Massimo again. What if he took me with him and ditched me after I had the baby? I thought I couldn’t risk that, and my eyes filled with tears.
My phone buzzed and I saw a message from Natalia.
“Liza where are you? Come back home, sweetie. Blake and I are okay, for now at least.”
I smiled. That was my friend. She was not the person to hold a grudge against anyone for more than a certain amount of time. And I was sure her husband must have explained why he had behaved the way he did.
“I will be back soon,” I replied and walked toward my car. It was time for me to meet the great Alpha Blake and see whether he was an a*s.
When I entered the apartment Natalia was lying on the sofa and Blake was sitting beside her, holding her hand.
“Hey Nat, are you feeling any better? Would you like me to prepare a light meal for you today?” I asked, concerned and noticed the smile on Blake’s face when Natalia shook her head. I smiled at her.
“Lasagna it is, then,” I teased my friend and she giggled.
“I can tell how much you ladies care for each other,” he said in a deep, husky voice, reminding me of someone else. Someone I wanted to forget.
“You bet we do, so don’t you ever do anything to hurt my girl again, or so help me God you will deal with me,” I replied coldly and made Blake laugh.
“I can see why you two are close. You are so alike I could swear you are sisters,” he teased and Natalia pinched his arm.
“Ouch, babe, I was just joking,” he protested and she smiled.
“Lisa, let me introduce you to my husband properly. Blake, this is my best friend Elisa. Elisa, this is my husband and mate, Blake,” Natalia made the introductions and I shook Blake’s hand, looking straight into his eyes.
“Blake seems to be a common name in the United States,” I commented, thinking of Massimo’s associate, whose name I saw listed in the contracts-Blake Hunter.
‘Yes, you could say that,” Natalia’s husband replied casually.
He seemed fiery and intimidating, but he was sweet and caring around Natalia. Yes, I could see how much Blake loved my girl.
“Nice to meet you, Blake. Please take good care of my girl and my niece or nephew,” I said and he smiled at me.
“What if it’s both?” he teased, breaking the ice between us.
“Then I guess you will be a busy dad, won’t you?” I replied and Blake’s face showed excitement.
“The food is ready, shall we eat?” Natalia proposed and we walked to the kitchen.
While having lunch, Natalia poked Blake and I stopped eating. Something smelled fishy to me.
“What?” I asked and Natalia cleared her throat.
“Em, Liz, I told Blake what happened between you and that jerk. Since he won’t stick around to support you, Blake thought of something. Please listen to him and then decide,” she suggested.
“Nat,” I protested, but my friend squeezed my hand and Blake’s kind gaze made me feel at ease.
“I don’t know who that guy is, Elisa, but if he doesn’t intend to be with you, you need help to carry on with your pregnancy. And I think I have the solution for you,” my friend’s handsome husband said and then continued.
“Why don’t you come to California with us? My best friend’s grandmother can help you give birth to the baby safely. She is an extraordinary lady with healing powers,” he suggested and I looked at him, dumbfounded.
She had healing powers? Was he serious?
“Liz, you can trust Blake’s words. We werewolves have special abilities and if that lady is so special, she will help you for sure,” Natalia urged me.
“What about Fabrizio? What about the law firm, Nat? We suffered your loss. How will Fabrizio take it if I am also out of the picture? We are corporate advocates, remember?” I tried to reason with my friend and that’s when the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it,” Blake said and left the table, leaving Natalia and me in the kitchen.
He came back with Fabrizio on his tail.
“Is there some for me?” he asked and got a plate from the cabinet.
“Help yourself,” I said and Fabrizio took the food out of the oven.
“So, are you going to the States with Natalia?” he asked me casually.
“What? How do you know?” His question surprised me.
“Natalia wouldn’t suggest anything to you before asking my permission, Elisa,” Fabrizio said while filling his plate with a sizeable portion of food.
Taking the first bite while still holding the plate in his hand, he took a seat beside me and continued eating while waiting for me to answer his question.
“Well?” he asked.
“Well what, Fabrizio?” I was confused.
“Are you going to California with Natalia, Elisa? Are you keeping the baby?” Fabrizio insisted.
“Fabb, what will happen to the firm if I leave as well? It’s a busy season and I have a lot to deal with,” I tried to reason with my boss.
“Elisa, you and your baby are more important than a couple of clients. I will deal with everything. Don’t worry. It’s been a while and I would love to get back into action, and so would Silvio. It will only be for a few months, my child. Until you give birth to the baby safely and without stress,” he replied and squeezed my hand in his vast palm.
“What if Ma….”,
“Don’t worry about him,” Fabrizio cut me off.
“I will not reveal your whereabouts to that stubborn young man. That would teach him a lesson or two. Come now, my child. Let’s eat the food you prepared and talk about your upcoming trip to California,” my boss suggested and took another bite of his food.
Natalia screamed in joy, left her seat, and rushed to hug Fabrizio, gaining a growl from Blake which made me jump in fright.
What the he.ll? Talk about possessiveness, I thought touching my flat belly, and my mind travelled to the night I slept with Massimo. My hair stood up at the memory of his dominance. So, all werewolves were the same, I concluded, surprised.
“Blake, stop acting like the beast you are. Fabrizio is like a father to me,” Natalia scolded and Blake looked down at his plate.
Way to go, Nat. you turned the lion into a kitty. Oh, my mistake. The wolf turned into a puppy, I thought and couldn’t hold back my laughter. Blake looked at me, annoyed, and his eyes held a blazing fire.
A growl from Natalia made me skip a heartbeat. That brought Blake back to his senses and his eyes went back to their usual dark blue sea colour which probably made a lot of female hearts skip beats. My heart, though, ached for a pair of dark almond-shaped eyes, looking deep into mine and sending shivers down my spine.
“I guess I should get used to the growling thing if I am coming with you two,” I commented, unaffected by Blake’s mood and Natalia squeaked happily.
‘Lisa, do you mean that? Will you come to California with me?” she asked and forgot about her argument with Blake.
I winked at Blake and he smiled at me. Why wouldn’t he? I just saved his a*s from Natalia’s wrath and he knew it.
“Yes, I am going with you. I have to finish some urgent matters at the law firm first,” I said, but Fabrizio interrupted.
“I will deal with everything. The only thing you should worry about is packing your suitcases,” he stated and I hugged him.
An unknown ringtone interrupted our conversation and Blake stood up, excusing himself.
“My partner is calling me. He probably needs my help filling in the paperwork for the claim,” he explained to Natalia and moved to the living room, taking the call.
“Hey man, how is everything going?” we heard him ask.
“Yes, we will head back soon,” he replied.
“What? No, man. I will ask Dylan to help you return immediately. Don’t worry. After you arrive, his pilot will pick us up and I will take care of everything. You need to take care of your father. Yes, man. Let me call Dylan now.”
He dropped the call and called Dylan.
“Hey Dylan, how are you? Yes, I found my wife. Yeah, everything is fine. I will tell you when I see you. Dylan, listen. I need you to do me another favour. My partner’s father had an accident and he needs to fly back home. Could your pilot….” Blake’s voice faded as he walked towards Natalia’s bedroom.
He came back to the kitchen half an hour later.
“Ladies, you better start packing. We are leaving tonight. My partner has to go back home. His father had an accident. I have to replace him asap and complete the accident claims we have to deal with.”
“How are we going back, Blake?” Natalia asked and he replied.
“Dylan will send my partner back to his place with uncle Alan’s private jet and then his pilot will pick us up from Isola.”
He then turned to Fabrizio.
“Fabrizio, where should the jet land to pick us up?”
Four hours later, we boarded a luxurious private jet heading to California.
“Goodbye, Italy,” I whispered and a rogue tear escaped my eyes.
The Dark Moon pack, California
Massimo
I was in Blake’s office with Lucas. We had just finished filling in some forms and took a quick break. The last couple of days had been tiring for both of us.
With Blake gone, Lucas took over and guided me to complete the claim procedures regarding the accident.
We would visit the hospital twice a day and check on the injured employees and their progress.
“I need to go to the warrior’s dorm for a while. Jacob needs to talk to me,” | Lucas said and left the office.
I closed my eyes and tried to clear my thoughts. Boy, was I exhausted.
Elisa’s face appeared in my mind and my eyes flew open. Since I had left Italy I hadn’t called to check up on her and the baby.
“Way to go, fool,” Onyx mocked me.
“Why don’t you just leave me alone, wolf? Don’t you see how messed up things are after the accident? Blake is not around and I’m struggling to manage alone. If it was Italy I would do it in no time. This is the U.S., Onyx. don’t push me,” I jumped at my wolf.
“You know that sooner or later you will have to make that call, Massimo. I just pray it’s not too late,” Onyx insisted.
“What do you mean, Onyx?” I didn’t like the sound of my wolf’s tone.
“Elisa will not wait for you for long. What if she aborts the baby before we get back?” My wolf’s question made me jump from my seat. I ran my hand through my hair nervously and closed my eyes in frustration. Why didn’t I think of that? Elisa was frustrated before I fled the day Blake called me.
“Sh.it Onyx, now you’ve made my day,” I scowled and looked at the time. I had better give Elisa a call. It was noon in Italy.
Before I got the chance to do so, my phone rang.
It was my mother.
An uneasy feeling crept into my heart when I took her call.
“Hey mama, how are you doing?” I asked. She was crying.
“Mum? What’s wrong?” Alarm bells rang in my mind.
“M… Massimo, your papa…” she said between sobs and I couldn’t understand anything.
“Ma, please calm down and tell me what happened. Where’s my dad? What‘s wrong with him?” I tried to hide the panic in my voice. I didn’t want to scare my mother more.
“Your father was in a car accident. He was injured badly, Massimo. I know he will heal soon, but I can’t bear to see him like this, my mother cried.
“Mum take it easy. I will call my partner and ask him to come back so I can fly back as soon as possible. Don’t worry I’ll be there in no time.” I tried to encourage my mother and cut the call. I had to get in touch with Blake.
I dialled my partner’s number and not long after, Blake answered.
“Hey man, how is everything going?” Blake’s voice came from the other side of the line.
“Hey, Blake. Yes, everything is okay with the claim procedures. Did you replace your wife?” I asked.
“Yes, we will head back soon,” Blake replied.
“Blake, can you make it back quickly, please? My dad was in a car accident and my mother was just in tears on the phone. She needs me by her side. Both my parents need me right now,” I explained. “I hope I’m not spoiling your plans,” I added.
“What? No, man. I will ask Dylan to help you return immediately. Don’t worry. After you arrive, his pilot will pick us up and I will take care of everything. You need to take care of your father.”
“Blake are you sure you are okay with coming back immediately?” I asked one more time.
“Yes, man. Let me call Dylan now,” Blake replied and hung up.
He called me twenty minutes later asking me to pack my luggage. Dylan’s father had sent his private jet to pick me up. I would arrive in Italy sooner than expected.
“You have nothing to worry about, Massimo. By the time you get on that plane, my wife and I will already be flying to California with Dylan’s private plane,” Blake assured me.
“Well, I guess I’ll be seeing you after my father gets better, Blake,” I greeted my partner and disconnected the call.
Two hours later, I boarded the jet and left California.
