Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 48
The Dark Moon pack, California
Natalia
It had been two months since we returned from Italy, bringing Elisa with us. I was nervous, not knowing how she would react to the new environment and how Blake could help her continue the pregnancy and not face any kind of danger.
Both my worries were unnecessary. When we landed outside our pack territory, it was clear that Elisa loved our place, especially the packhouse and its surroundings. I gave her the guest room with a view of the lake in the back garden. She loved it and said it made her feel relaxed and happy.
Blake called Dylan when we arrived and explained Elisa’s condition, asking for his grandmother’s help. And I had the shock of my life. Dylan was the well-known Dylan Hayes and his grandmother was the legendary Luna Alison Northwood, our Moon Goddess’s only child. Luna Alison had special healing abilities and the power to read the minds of all werewolves.
When Dylan heard Blake’s request, he didn’t hesitate to inform his grandmother and I couldn’t contain my surprise at seeing Luna Alison in our pack the very next day.
She was such a stunning woman, even at her age. Tall, slim, and well-built with extraordinary features, Luna Alison was still the epitome of beauty.
I felt so relaxed being with her and telling her what had happened to my friend and me. Words slipped out of my mouth with such ease it made me think that Luna Alison had used magic to make me spill.
It was after I told her what happened with Emma and Blake that I found out it was Luna Alison who had exposed that b***h’s lies. That reminded me that my next move would be to deal with Emma and punish her as she deserved.
“Don’t make a hasty decision, my child,” Luna Alison said, surprised me.
“I can read minds as well, remember?” she teased me and I blushed.
“Blake also wanted to punish her, but I told him to wait. Emma has something to do with an Alpha called Ace. He wants to harm Blake. Both you and your mate should be patient and wait for her to reveal her intentions. You can follow her somehow, or even better, since your wolf Leia can also read minds, you can use it to your benefit, Natalia.” Luna Alison advised me in her sweet voice.
“I knew it. The moment I met Ace Jones, I knew something was off. I didn’t like him from the beginning,” I growled and Luna Alison patted my hand reassuringly.
“Don’t worry Natalia. Blake has it covered. And if needed, we will also help,” she comforted me. “All you have to do is take care of your pup and your health, my dear,’ she added, but nothing surprised me anymore. She was Luna Alison.
Elisa had been listening to our conversation with a dumbfounded expression on her face. I could tell that it was all new to her, and she felt weird.
“And now back to you, young lady,” Luna Alison turned and faced Elisa, smiling at her. “How about you tell me what happened from the beginning?”
Elisa blushed, but Luna Alison held her hand, which put her at ease. Taking a deep breath, she began explaining how she and Massimo met each other and what followed.
When she came to the part where she found out she was pregnant, her eyes filled with tears.
“He never said that he didn’t want the baby. He told me he didn’t want to get emotionally involved with me,” she whispered, her eyes looking everywhere except at Luna Alison.
“Now, my child. Calm down and tell me the jerk’s name,” Luna Alison smiled.
“What use will it be? He is in Italy,” Emily replied and Luna Alison giggled.
“You never know, my child, you never know,” she replied.
“Massimo. His name is Massimo Azzarello,” Elisa said, and Luna Alison’s smile looked suspicious.
“Oh, I see,” she replied smiling and clearing her voice.
“How far along are you, Elisa?” she asked, touching my friend’s tummy.
“Seven weeks,” Elisa replied and Luna Alison nodded.
“I realise you know the standard procedure when a human gets pregnant with a werewolf. In your case, since that is not possible, I will prepare some strengthening potions you should take daily, and when the day comes for the baby’s birth, I will help you deliver the baby safely. Okay, Elisa?”
“Yes,” Elisa replied, a shy smile on her face.
“I trust you, Luna Alison. I know you won’t let anything bad happen to my baby or me.”
It was then that Blake showed up with Dylan and joined us. I never expected Dylan to be so talkative and approachable. I still remembered the stories of how he and his second-chance mate, Karla, had met. He was now madly in love with his wife and overprotective of their children.
We were in the middle of a conversation when Jacob, Blake’s Gamma, entered the room.
“Alpha Hunter, sorry to disturb you but I need to talk to you about something,” Jacob apologised and I couldn’t help but notice how Elisa’s face paled.
“Elisa?” I held her hand and she whispered, “Blake? Blake Hunter? Is that you?”
Blake looked back at my friend confused, and Elisa continued.
“Are you the same Blake Hunter as Massimo Azzarello’s partner in the United States?”
“Yes, Massimo and I are partners. How do you know him, Elisa?”
Elisa was silent, her eyes full of tears. She shook her head in denial and Blake asked, trying to understand.
“Elisa? How do you know, Massimo?”
“He is my client at the firm. I am the lawyer handling all your business contracts back in Italy, Blake,” Elisa replied, and I froze.
“Elisa? You mean to tell me that the Massimo you’re having the baby with is the same as Blake’s partner?” I asked, shocking my husband.
“Elisa? You are the one Massimo told me he messed up with?” he asked, and Elisa hid her face in her hands.
“And to think I travelled all the way to California to hide from him,” my friend whispered desperately.
“Not to worry, darling. Blake won’t tell Massimo you are living with us. Is that right, Blake?” I looked at my husband, who tried to protest, but the look I gave him was more than enough to stop him.
“You can do that much, at least for now, right Blake?” There was a hidden warning in the tone I used, and Blake nodded obediently. He was trying to mend things between us and he didn’t want other problems coming our way.
“Time is the best doctor. It helps everything,” Luna Alison said moving closer and embracing Elisa.
“Blake, keep it a secret from Massimo for now. Later, we’ll see,” she advised, and Blake agreed.
And now, two months later, Elisa’s and my bumps showed, and we could feel the babies moving. Elisa was taking the potions Luna Alison had been preparing for her regularly, and she was healthy. Timothy had been checking on us regularly and Emma’s absence was a must every time we visited. Timothy told me that Blake had warned her to stay away from me or he would punish her severely.
Feeling better, Elisa suggested that she and I help Blake with his business contracts, working together as always. She even asked Fabrizio to send us some extra work via mail, things we could work on without requiring our physical presence. It was a way for us to keep in touch with our boss and make him happy to deal with us again.
Blake was in constant communication with Massimo but not even once did he mention Elisa to him. Blake told me that Massimo was a total wreck, trying desperately to replace Elisa. Massimo regretted how he had treated my friend and was worried sick about her and the baby. He even confessed to my mate that he realised he was in love with Elisa and blamed himself for not opening up to her before he travelled to the States when the accident happened.
I didn’t tell Elisa anything. She would be confused, and I was afraid for the baby’s safety.
At our last doctor’s appointment, Timothy suggested we travel to the city and visit the hospital for Elisa to have another checkup on the big screen. Blake had a friend there, and he would arrange for an obstetrician he trusted to check on Elisa. That doctor had examined and helped a lot of pregnant werewolf human mates.
Blake arranged the appointment, and Elisa and I soon travelled with Lucas downtown. Blake had a business meeting he could not postpone and didn’t go with us.
Being the first time we visited the hospital, I felt awkward. I had a feeling that something would happen, but I couldn’t define what that was. We registered at the counter and took our seats, waiting for Elisa’s turn to enter the doctor’s office. We didn’t wait long. Elisa soon entered the examination room and I followed.
The doctor was pleasant and made Elisa feel comfortable. After asking the usual questions, he asked her to lie on the examination table to check on the baby.
I held her hand while the doctor measured the fetus and spoke politely.
“Everything is fine with the fetus. It looks like your baby boy will take after his dad, Elisa. His facial features differ from yours.”
Elisa’s tears welled up and ran down her face.
The doctor misunderstood and continued.
“I guess you belong to the women who love it when their babies look like their husbands,” he said and Elisa blushed, earning a huge grin from the doctor. My heart ached at the sight of my friend. I knew Elisa was in love with Massimo although she never admitted her feelings to me.
We finished the examination and the doctor asked us to wait outside for a while until he prescribed the medication for Elisa. I sent Lucas a message that we were almost done and we took a seat, waiting patiently for the doctor.
Some movement on my right caught my attention and I turned to look. I could see the back of a young man helping his pregnant wife sit in a wheelchair. He bent close to her and whispered something in her ear. She hugged him and he left in long strides.
The young woman turned the wheelchair to face her husband’s back. She lowered her head and caressed her swollen belly, whispering something to her baby. I smiled. She looked adorable.
The same feeling I had when I entered the hospital returned. My heart bit faster and my breathing got heavier. I closed my eyes trying to tame my rebellious heart. I felt weird. Elisa, who noticed my abnormal behaviour entered the doctor’s room hastily and soon, the doctor was by my side checking my pulse.
“There is nothing to worry about, Natalia. The baby is probably being naughty taking energy from you,” he tried to comfort me and I nodded.
The doctor was ready to return to his office when he heard a muffled sound like a cry. He turned and saw the young woman in the wheelchair. He called her name and walked to her.
“Ah, Elisabeth, you came. Are you alone? Where is Drake?”
Wait! What? Elisabeth? Drake? Was that….
“He went back to the car to bring my medical records,” came her reply, and I thought I was going to faint at the sound of her voice. I turned and looked at the young woman who had turned the wheelchair facing us. She was pale and her eyes were on me.
I stood up, hands and body shaking, and walked to her. The doctor held my arm, trying to help me, confused by what he was witnessing.
She looked at me, tears running down her face, biting her lips to hide her sobs, her hands clutching the wheelchair’s arms with so much force her knuckles went white.
“Elisabeth, is that you?” I whispered, unable to believe I was looking at my sister’s face after ten whole years.
“Hello, Natalia,” she whispered before she broke into sobs.
