Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 49
California
Elisabeth
I was preparing for my next doctor’s appointment in our room. The baby was due in less than a month, and my obstetrician wanted to see me at least once a week. He was afraid that the baby would kick its way out soon and he wanted to be sure nothing went wrong.
Drake was taking a shower; he had just finished working. A new guest had arrived, a young woman. Drake thought she was Italian. He had to take care of her accommodation and was a bit late. Now he was rushing to make it to the doctor’s office downtown.
After his last conversation with Ace, Drake never left me alone in the house and he was always with me when I visited the hospital. Today was one of those days.
I finished dressing and sat on the bed waiting for my mate. My thoughts travelled to my father and sister. In the last few days, all I could think of was them. How they were and if my sister was happy with Blake.
I had messed up with their lives and was overwhelmed with guilt. I never regretted my decision to leave with Drake. Everything I did, I did out of love. I defied the Moon Goddess and her decision for a man I was in love with and now hoped not to get punished for my choice. I felt uncomfortable. My instincts told me something was going to happen.
The baby kicked, looking for attention, and I shrugged off my negative thoughts and smiled, caressing my huge tummy.
“What’s wrong, baby? Is there no more space for you in there? Let’s wait and see what the doctor says today, okay?” I whispered and my boy kicked again.
Drake came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel, his naked torso gaining my attention. My husband never ceased to amaze me. He was well-built and handsome as ever. And the way he wrapped the towel around his naked body didn’t do any good to my crazy hormones.
I was drooling and Drake noticed. With a cocky smile, he came over and sat on the bed, taking my lips in a dominating k**s. His tongue played with mine, torturing me even more. He suddenly pulled back, all flushed and breathless.
“Baby, we need to stop. I won’t be able to control myself or Gunner if we keep kissing like that. We are almost at the end of our journey. Let’s wait until our baby is born safely,” he whispered kissing the nape of my neck, and I nodded obediently.
We left the house and drove to the hospital. Drake happily chatted about the things we had to buy for our baby. We parked outside the hospital and Drake went looking for a wheelchair. Soon he was back empty-handed.
“No wheelchair, baby. I will have to carry you until we replace one,” he smiled and picked me up bridal style. We were almost outside the doctor’s office when Drake found a wheelchair and helped me into it.
“s**t! Baby, we forgot your medical records in the car. I will be right back.” My husband kissed me and left for the parking lot. I turned the wheelchair facing the way Drake had gone and caressed my belly.
I whispered to my baby, “Daddy will be back soon, baby.”
A commotion drew my attention. Two pregnant young women were sitting on a bench close to me and one had breathing problems. The other rushed to my doctor’s office and soon, he was out in the corridor, next to the young woman.
The doctor called her by her name, but before he did; I was already sure of who she was. She was even prettier than the photos. My sister, Natalia, was in a pregnant state right before me.
I froze!
What if she saw me? And what about Drake? What if they already knew what he and Ace had planned?
“Baby, stay out of the obstetrician’s ward. Don’t show up. Not until I tell you,” I mind-linked my husband, and he panicked.
“Ellie, what’s wrong? The baby…”
“Listen to me, Drake. Natalia is here; I don’t know if Blake is with her. Please, baby, stay in the car and I will tell you when it’s safe to come,” I pleaded with him and closed the mind link.
I couldn’t help but muffle a cry, trying to hide my sobs.
That pulled my doctor’s attention from my sister. Calling my name, he walked to me.
“Ah, Elisabeth, you came. Are you alone? Where is Drake?”
Fu.ck. There it was…..
“He went back to the car to bring my medical records.” My voice came out shaky, and I looked at my sister, who lifted her head at the sound of my voice and looked at me in disbelief. I felt the b***d leaving my veins, and I was sure I was going to faint.
I watched as Natalia stood up, her whole body shaking, and walked to me. My doctor, confused, held her by her arm, trying to help her walk.
I stared at my little sister, tears running down my face, biting my lips to hide my sobs, my hands clutching the wheelchair’s armrests with so much force that my knuckles hurt.
“Elisabeth, is that you?” Natalia whispered, her eyes as wide as saucepans.
“Hello, Natalia,” I whispered before breaking into sobs.
It was a good thing that the doctor held my sister because her legs turned into jelly and she collapsed.
“Natalia”, both the doctor and the other woman called, and I tried to lift myself from the wheelchair.
“Elisabeth, you stay right there,” the doctor ordered, and I nodded obediently. He took Natalia in his arms and went back to his office, the young woman following him.
It was my chance to escape. I had to leave so nothing happened to Drake.
I turned the wheelchair ready to leave, but….
Closing my teary eyes in despair, I knew at that moment that I could never abandon my baby sister again. That would be cruel. No matter what the aftermath of my decision would be, I needed to be close to Natalia. At least for once.
I pushed the wheelchair and knocked on the doctor’s door. The young woman opened it for me and smiled when she saw me there.
“I knew you would come,” she whispered.
I entered the room and saw my sister laying on the bed, her teary eyes closed. The doctor was right next to her, holding her hand.
He looked at me.
“She is fine,” he smiled. “The shock made her vulnerable, but now she is fine,” he repeated.
“Doctor, could you please give me a few minutes alone with my sister?” Natalia requested, opening her eyes and helping herself up onto the bed. She avoided looking at me.
“Elisa, can you please wait for me outside, sweetie?” she asked the other young woman who nodded and left the room with the doctor.
“Natalia, I…”
“Long time no see, Elisabeth,” Natalia’s dry voice interrupted me.
“Natalia, I am sorry. I never meant to hurt you or dad that way,” I admitted, not looking at her, embarrassed knowing what the outcome of my actions was back then.
“You should be, Elie. You cost me ten years away from dad. Ten years of hiding to avoid Blake’s wrath,” my sister accused me and I lowered my head.
“I know, Nat. I couldn’t stay with Blake. Drake was my favourite person. I had to run away with him or Blake would kill him. I had to do it,” I whispered.
“And you left everyone else to deal with your mess, Elisabeth,” Natalia continued her accusations.
“Yes,” I admitted.
“But now you are married to Blake, Nat. You are happy with him, right?” I tried to lighten the atmosphere, but it didn’t work.
“What do you know, Elisabeth? Do you think everything ran as smoothly as you imagine? Not in a thousand lifetimes could you ever repay the harm you did to me and dad, despite the outcome, do you hear?” Natalia attacked me.
“I want to believe you, Elie. I do. You are my sister, even though I am angry with you. Nothing could change that. Nothing, except the fact that your husband is the rogue leader who planned to attack ours and Blake’s pack to take the reins,” Natalia blurted and I froze.
She knew! That meant Blake knew, and maybe my father knew as well.
I paled. I looked at my sister. She had such a powerful aura around her. I could recognise it from miles away. My sister had a powerful wolf.
“Natalia, please listen to me. Drake has changed. I swear on my baby, Drake has changed. He is no longer planning anything against dad or Blake. When I found out about his plans, I threatened to leave him. So he had to choose between the baby and me or his malicious plans. Drake has chosen us, Nat. I am sure of it. Please, you need to believe me, Natalia. It’s all in the past,” I begged and Natalia looked at me in disbelief, not sure whether to trust my words.
“I know, Nat, and I am sorry,” I replied, tears rolling down my face.
“What if I can prove it to you? Let me call Drake. I want him to admit that he has nothing to do with the rogue attacks anymore in front of you.” Without waiting for her reply, I mind-linked Drake and asked him to come to the doctor’s office. Natalia left the bed and took a defensive stance. I knew she didn’t trust me to the point of staying calm while waiting for Drake to show up.
When Drake entered the room and saw my sister standing there he was confused. He rushed to me kneeling by my side.
“Elie, are you okay, sweetie?” he asked, his voice full of worry.
“Do you think I could ever harm my sister like you want to harm your brother, Drake?” Natalia confronted him and Drake paled.
He looked at me and I answered the question in his eyes.
“Natalia and Blake know all about you and the rogues, Drake. Did you think that acting the way you did would remain a secret for long? How could you even think of harming my father and his pack, Drake? How could you?” I blamed him, crying.
“Elisabeth, sweetie, I can explain,” Drake replied but Natalia cut him off.
“Explain what Drake? How you escaped Blake’s attack at the cliff and how you threatened to take back what’s rightfully yours?” my sister accused and Drake was speechless.
“What?” I whispered and started shaking.
“Elisabeth? Sweetie, are you okay?” Drake held me in his arms and looked at my sister with tears in his eyes.
“Natalia please, stop. I swear on my wife’s and baby’s lives that all that belongs in the past. Yes, that was the original plan, and I was a fool to think I could succeed. But my life changed when Elisabeth almost lost her life and our baby a few months ago. I want nothing to do with the rogues or your father’s and Blake’s pack. All I want is for my family to be happy and live a simple life. Elisabeth and the baby are all I care for, Natalia,” Drake said between his tears holding me in his arms.
I looked at my sister. She seemed confused.
“Please, Natalia. You must believe us. We want no trouble with any of you. All we want is a peaceful life with our baby,” I begged my sister and raised my hand to touch hers.
She flinched but let me touch her. “How can I trust you? I also have a family to care for, Elie. I’m also carrying Blake’s baby. What about my family?” Natalia asked with tears in her eyes.
“All you have to do is tell Blake to be aware of Ace Jones, Natalia. He was the one helping me and despised the fact I pulled out of our plans to attack my brother and his pack,” Drake told my sister with a low voice and Natalia shrieked.
“What? You and Ace worked together?”
