Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 50

California

Natalia

Drake’s last sentence floored me. Did he mean to tell me that Ace Jones had been working with him to take Blake and my father down all that time? And that bastard, Ace, had the guts to come to our pack asking for Blake’s help? Was he entirely out of his mind? He had even dared to use Emma as his snitch.

I growled loud enough to startle the doctor who waited outside. He entered his office in a hurry but one look from me sent him right back out.

“How dare you, Drake? How dare you even think of harming your flesh and b***d? Blake is your brother, for heaven’s sake. He had always treated you with love and sincerity. Wasn’t it enough that you took his mate from him? You decided you wanted everything for yourself? How sick are you?” I didn’t give a f**k that the sound of my voice was loud and may have caused a raucous at the hospital. All I wanted was to punch Drake in the face and bite his head off.

“You are right, Natalia. I acted recklessly and I almost lost my wife and child because of it. I swear once more, Natalia, all that matters to me is Elisabeth and our baby boy, nothing else. Please let us be. You can tell Blake if you want but knowing my brother he won’t sit still. I promise that as soon as Elisabeth gives birth to our baby I will take them and leave. You will never see us again,” he pleaded, eyes full of tears.

Was he the same man who, in his wolf form, swore to take everything from Blake that day? Drake seemed remorseful and almost honest.

“I believe him, Nat. I read his mind and his wolf is urging him to protect his family and forget about the rest. Drake is sincere.” Leia stepped in and reassured me.

“I need some time with my sister, Drake. Please leave us alone,” Elisabeth asked and Drake left the room. My sister tried to get up from the wheelchair but her weak legs didn’t allow it.

I walked over to her and gave her a hand for support. As soon as Elisabeth stood up, our swollen bellies bumped and the scene was so funny we both started laughing, tears running down our faces.

“Please let me hug you once, Elisabeth said whimpering and I couldn’t hold onto my anger towards my elder sister any longer. All I cared about at that moment was to feel Elie close to me. I had missed her so much, and despite the hard times I had been through because of her actions so many years ago, she was still my sister and I loved her.

I hugged Elisabeth back and she caressed my hair just like she used to when I was little, seeking comfort in her arms. And then it happened again. She gave me the same comfort she had given me as a child.

“I am so sorry, Nat. I have made your life miserable just to live mine the way I wanted to. If I could turn time back, I would still choose Drake, but more appropriately, and avoid doing you and our father any harm,” she whispered between sobs and I nodded my head, crying in her arms.

“All I want for you is to be happy, Natalia. I hope Blake loves you the way you deserve,” my sister continued and I looked at her smiling between my tears.

“We had our difficulties, but yes, Blakes loves me and I love him,” I replied and Elisabeth smiled.

“Please trust me, Natalia. I would never allow Drake to harm our dad or Blake and you. I meant what I told him. If he goes back on his word I will disappear from his life taking our baby boy with me and he will never see us again,” my sister emphasised, her voice shaky.

“He must love you deeply to go turn away from his greedy desire to take the pack’s reins from dad and Blake, Elie,” I replied and she gave me a sad smile.

“I am his only family, Nat. and he is mine,” the tears broke her voice again.

“I wish we could go back to where we were before,” I replied and Elisabeth nodded.

“Me too Nat. But things have gone this way and we can’t be a family again,” my sister choked.

“I miss dad, Natalia. I know I don’t deserve to see him, though. Please take good care of him,” she requested.

“Elisabeth where do you live?”

My sister hesitated.

“I promise I won’t reveal your whereabouts, Elie. I just want to know where I can replace you. I am worried about you and the baby,” I admitted and she smiled.

“Does that mean you want to stay in touch with me?” I saw the hope in her eyes and my heart fluttered in my chest. I nodded smiling.

“Give me your phone number. I will call you back so you can save mine and I will send you the location. It’s near the hospital,” Elizabeth said.

We exchanged our numbers and I left the room. Drake was waiting outside, all flushed. When he saw me come out, he came to me.

“You take care of Elisabeth and the baby. Make sure you keep your word, Drake. The only reason I let you off the hook is my sister and the baby,” I said and he looked at me. There was no arrogance or pride in his gaze.

“I promise you, Natalia. And for what it’s worth, I am sorry. I truly am sorry,” he replied and entered the doctor’s office to replace my sister.

I turned to the doctor. He still looked confused.

“Doctor, thank you for today. Both for Elisa and my sister. Please keep this between us. I would appreciate it if you didn’t tell Blake anything. I would like to tell him myself,” I requested, and the doctor gave me a sign of acknowledgement.

Lisa and I left the ward in silence. She only held my hand and asked me if I was okay.

“Lisa, we should talk when we go back. I don’t want Lucas to hear us. What happened today is too much for me. I need to replace out how to break the news to Blake and prevent him from looking for Drake. If he does, he will kill his brother and I don’t want that to happen,” I pleaded with my friend and she agreed.

We entered the car and Lucas asked.

“Luna, is everything okay? You seem stressed.”

I smiled. Blake did well to have Lucas as his Beta. he was good at reading people.

“Just tired, Lucas. Don’t worry, everything is fine,” I replied and closed my eyes to avoid talking to him.

We arrived at the Dark Moon pack and I followed Lisa to her room. My friend already knew the story about my sister and Drake, so it wasn’t difficult for me to explain what happened at the hospital. Lisa’s jaw dropped in shock when she heard what happened between my sister and her husband; she could not reply or even comfort me.

“And that leaves me with the dilemma of whether to tell Blake about the encounter with my sister,” I concluded, and Lisa, sitting next to me, hugged me.

“Some things are better left unspoken Natalia. If you are sure about Blake’s reaction you might as well avoid telling him what happened today. On the other hand, hiding the truth from your beloved husband could be troublesome and break the trust between you,” my friend advised and smiled.

“What about you and Massimo, sweetie? I know that you have feelings for him, Elisa. Don’t you think it’s about time he replaces out that you have kept the baby?”

Elisa paled at my question and lowered her head. “He doesn’t feel the same way, Nat. Why would I want him back in my life?” she whispered.

“Truth or dare, time, Nat. You should tell her about Massimo,” Leia interfered. “She might need him during birth. It will be safer for Lisa if he is by her side.”

“What if I told you he feels the same way about you, sweetie? Blake told me that Massimo has fallen in love with you. That’s why he tried to keep you away from him. He was afraid to get hurt again. He has been looking all over for you, Elisa,” I admitted and my friend looked at me, awestruck by my confession.

“What?” she whispered and I smiled.

“Take some time to rest and reflect on my words, Lisa. I think you should give Massimo a chance. He is not a bad guy. That’s what Blake told me. I will leave you to rest.” I smiled at my friend and left her room.

I needed to see Blake. I had to be close to him. At the same time, I was happy and hurt. After so many years, I saw my sister and couldn’t share my joy with my husband. The rift between Blake and his brother would keep Elizabeth and me apart. The only way I could console myself was for Blake to take me in his arms and make me feel better.

I found my husband in his office, dealing with some work-related paperwork. When he saw me enter, he left his seat and came to me. His first move was to hug and k**s me and then k**s my swollen bump, talking to our baby.

“Hey, sweetie. How was the doctor’s appointment? Is Elisa all right?” he asked, pulling me onto the sofa. He took a seat and then placed me on his lap.

I hid my face in his chest and nodded. “Yeah, both Elisa and the baby are fine. The doctor said her baby boy has Massimo’s facial features. He doesn’t look like his mother,” I murmured.

I stayed in his arms, silent. Blake’s steady and strong heartbeat would calm my frustration. My husband noticed I wasn’t my usual self and lifted my chin, locking eyes with me.

“Natalia, what’s wrong? Is something bothering you?” His eyes penetrated my soul, and that hurt a lot. How could I keep such a secret from him?”

“Do it the easy way, Nat. Why don’t you tell him about Elisa and Massimo first? Give me some time to improvise so I can control Aries when you tell them about Drake and your sister,” Leia chipped in and saved the situation.

“I told Elisa about Massimo, Blake. I think we should tell him that she is living with us. Why interfere more between them? Lisa’s condition is fine now, and I know that Luna Alison can help her during the delivery. Having Massimo close to her will do her good though,” I replied and Blake smiled.

“I had the same thought, baby. Massimo said that he would like to visit for business purposes and I tried to avoid him with various excuses. I will call him and invite him to come,” Blake told me.

“What if they argue, though? You realise Elisa is bull-headed, don’t you?” I asked and my husband laughed.

“I guess I could teach my friend Massimo a few things to avoid,” he said between laughter and I smacked his chest.

“How about we keep it a surprise for both of them, Nat? Why not let them meet each other out of the blue and act based on their reaction? Both of them are as stubborn as we were before. We will interfere only if things get out of hand. What do you think?” Blake suggested, and I looked at my husband, surprised by his willingness to play cupid.

“Do you mean that, Blake?” I asked.

“Sure, hon. Just watch me,” he replied and picked up the phone.

“Hey, Massimo. What’s up, man? Yeah, everything is fine. About that trip of yours to California…”

I watched, dumbfounded, as my husband talked with Massimo and arranged for him to visit the following week.

“s**t will hit the fan,” Leia giggled and I couldn’t agree more.

“And that’s nothing,” I replied. “Wait until I tell Blake about Drake and my sister.” I closed my eyes, clutching my chest. The feeling of suffocation had just returned and I tried to hide it from my husband.
