Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 62

The Dark Moon pack, California

Emma

I watched as Natalia and the other woman entered the car and drove away. She seemed angry, very angry. And the suitcases? What was that about? Was Natalia leaving the pack, or was the other woman leaving?

Too many questions and I needed answers. But how? I knew that if I entered the packhouse, Blake would punish me. He wanted me far away from there. Who could replace out for me?

Timothy! Yes, Tim would be the one to answer my questions. My boss was Blake’s best friend and had a crush on me. I pretended not to know because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. He was a good friend to me and now I needed his help.

My shift was over but I made a U-turn and went back to the hospital. Tim would be on the night shift today. I walked the familiar corridor and stood outside Timothy’s office. I hesitated only for a minute. There was no time to waste. I knocked on the door and entered without waiting for a reply.

Tim had been working on his laptop and looked up as I entered the room.

“Emma, is something wrong? Why are you back?” He was confused.

“No, everything is fine Tim, don’t worry. It’s just that I witnessed Luna Natalia leaving the pack with another woman. She seemed pretty upset and had luggage with her,” I blurted out and waited for his response.

Tim scratched his forehead and closed his laptop. My words had him worried. He always had Blake’s good interests at heart and I knew he would try to replace out what had happened.

He picked up his phone and tried calling Blake but he didn’t answer. Then he left his office and headed towards the packhouse. I knew better than to follow him. I took a seat and waited for him to return.

Tim’s absence took long and I started to worry. What happened back there? Was Blake okay? I played with my phone to ease my worries and forget the time.

Timothy entered his office after a while. He was deep in thought and had a gloomy expression on his face. He didn’t even notice my presence and stood by the window, visibly annoyed.

“Tim?” I startled him. He looked back surprised.

“Emma, why are you still here?”

“I waited for you, Tim. is everything all right? You seem upset.”

Tim was hesitant to reply and I knew why.

“Look, Timothy, I am just curious about what happened. Natalia seemed upset. And I am worried about Blake. Nothing more. Can you please tell me what happened? I promise I won’t do anything stupid.” I tried to convince him.

“There was a misunderstanding between Blake and Natalia. And she left the pack with her friend Elisa. That’s all I was told,” Timothy replied not looking at me.

“A misunderstanding? What kind of misunderstanding Timothy?” He wasn’t giving me any clues.

“I don’t know, Emma. All I know is that Natalia said she was going to stay at a motel downtown. I don’t know where, though. She did mention a name before leaving. She said she would call Drake to arrange a room for her. Maybe he is one of her friends. I don’t know anything more, Emma. All I know is that Blake locked himself in his bedroom and doesn’t want to talk to anyone. That’s what I was told.” Timothy looked out of the window again.

Drake? Wasn’t that the a*****e who had been threatening me? Why would Natalia contact him? Did she know him? I had to leave Tim’s office and call that bastard.

“I hope they solve the misunderstanding soon, Tim. I have to go home and rest. I have a double shift tomorrow,” I told Timothy and left his office with more questions than before.

How serious was the misunderstanding between Blake and Natalia for her to leave like that? And why did she mention calling the person who was blackmailing me to inform him of Natalia’s movements? Was he someone special to her? A secret lover perhaps?

Alone in my house, I picked up the phone and called my blackmailer.

“Hello?” Even his voice was creepy.

“There’s one thing I don’t understand. Why on earth are you blackmailing me to tell you what Natalia does when she is so close to you?” I cut to the chase.

“What the hell do you mean, b***h?” He roared.

‘Don’t play dumb with me, Drake. You know well what I mean. Natalia quarrelled with Blake and left the pack. She said she would call you to replace her a room at the motel. Are you still trying to mess me around?” I snickered on the phone.

There was silence at the other end of the line. Had he hung up on me?”

“Drake, I am talking to you,” I growled and he roared back.

“Don’t you ever dare raise your voice to me, b***h. Did Natalia say she would contact Drake, that is me?” he asked impatiently.

“Yes, she did. She left in a stranger’s car with that friend of hers, Elisa.”

“Are you sure, Emma?” His voice was threatening.

“Yes. Didn’t she call you?” I asked suspiciously.

“She is calling me now. Hang up,” he replied and ended our call.

I held the phone close to my ear for a while and then put it down, smiling. Was Blake’s and Natalia’s quarrel a blessing for me? What if they broke up because of Drake? That would leave Blake for me.

I smiled, relieved. Maybe there was still hope for Blake and me.

The Paradise pack, California

Ace

I had just finished a meeting with my associates and decided to leave the pack. I didn’t want to hear my father nagging again. I decided to go back to my apartment and check on Mattia. He had been very quiet since Teresa left for the motel. I could hear him talk to her in Italian every evening but I didn’t know what they were talking about. He didn’t seem distressed so I figured it was plain talk and nothing important.

I needed to check on him nevertheless. I didn’t like Mattia’s face; he seemed suspicious to me. If a man of his status had managed to replace out so many details about me and let Teresa know before she came to California, that meant that Mattia’s capability was enough to destroy anyone and everything. I wanted to be near him and predict his actions.

I was ready to start my car when my phone rang. I checked the screen and saw Emma’s name on it. Had anything happened with Natalia?

I picked up the phone and Emma picked on me without greeting me.

She accused me of blackmailing her into giving me information about Natalia when Natalia was close to me.

What the hell did Emma mean?

I asked her what she meant and she started talking nonstop.

She talked so fast and it took a great effort to hear everything she said.

Wait! Did she just say that Natalia had had a fight with Blake and left the packhouse with her luggage, mentioning she would contact Drake and ask him to get her a room? What the hell? Had Natalia and Blake encountered Drake? Was their relationship back to normal? Was that why Drake pulled out of our plans? Did his brother promise him something?

I stayed silent and Emma thought that I had hung up the phone.

“Drake, I am talking to you,” she growled from the other side of the line.

“Don’t you ever dare raise your voice to me, b***h. Did Natalia say she would contact Drake, that is me?” I asked impatiently.

“Yes, she did. She left in a stranger’s car with that friend of hers, Elisa,” Emma replied.

“Are you sure, Emma?” I asked in a threatening tone. She’d better be telling me the truth.

“Yes. Didn’t she call you?” Emma sounded suspicious.

“She is calling me now. Hang up,” I replied and ended our call.

I sat in my car with my hands on the steering wheel. What the hell had I missed? When did Drake come into contact with his brother? Had they patched things up between them? Did Drake tell him about me? s**t! If that was the case, I was screwed. Somehow, I had to replace out what Blake knew. But how?

I wracked my brain to replace an answer, but nothing came to mind. Cold sweat ran down my spine at the thought of Blake knowing about my plans. He would kill me for sure.

“What if Drake didn’t tell him anything, Ace? How could he admit that he colluded with you to have his brother killed? Do you think Blake would spare his brother if he knew?” My wolf was right. If Drake met with his brother he wouldn’t tell him about our plans. Blake wouldn’t spare his life.

To ease my worries, I called Teresa. She was the closest person to Drake. She could tell me if Natalia showed up at the motel. That would be the first thing to confirm my suspicions. After that, I would decide how to proceed.

Teresa didn’t answer my call. I called her more than ten times, but nothing. I drove to my apartment, annoyed that Teresa was ignoring me. Before entering my apartment, Teresa called back.

“What is it, Ace? I couldn’t answer your calls. The motel owner was with me and I had to lie and tell her that my ex-boyfriend had been calling me so persistently,” Teresa sounded annoyed.

“Teresa, we may need to change our plans. Please let me know if Drake contacted Natalia and booked a room for her at the motel. My snitch told me she had a fight with Blake and left the pack. I suspect Drake betrayed me and told Blake everything. We need to move fast and replace out if my suspicion is correct,” I said in one breath.

“What are you talking about Ace? How could Drake tell his brother anything? He must be out of his mind to do such a thing. Okay, let me see what I can do. Drake is very clever and he mustn’t suspect anything about me. Let me see what I can replace. I will get back to you soon,” Teresa replied and ended the call.

s**t! What was I supposed to do until Teresa called back?

I drove back to my apartment lost in thought. Mattia was watching a show on TV. I went to my room and closed the door behind me. s**t! I was a mess. I couldn’t ease my worries.

“There‘s only one way to know for sure, Ace. Why don’t you call Blake using an excuse like the alliance contract? By the sound of his voice, you will at least get a hint if he knows about you,” my wolf advised me and I found his proposal rational.

Trying to control my raging heart, I picked up the phone and tried to act as calmly as possible.

“Hello? Ace?” Blake’s voice sounded poised on the other side of the line.

“Hello, Blake. I need to talk to you about our alliance contract. Do you have some time to spare?” I asked, trying to sound normal, despite my trembling core.

“Sure, man. Shoot,” Blake replied calmly and I took a deep breath, releasing the mass of air that was stuck in my lungs in anticipation.

“You see? Your worries were not substantial. Blake doesn’t know anything about your involvement, Ace. Drake must have hidden it from him,” my wolf assured me and I took another breath, grateful for Drake’s cowardice. The a*s didn’t have the guts to tell his brother the truth.

“Well, Blake, I wanted to ask…” I continued, regaining my composure. Even if Drake had patched things up with his brother, my plan would not be affected. The Dark Moon pack would soon be mine.
