Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 63
The Dinners Inn Motel, California
Drake
I left my brother and the others in Natalia’s room and went back to reception. Teresa still hadn’t come back and I was still on duty. Elisabeth was upset with me for not telling her what happened; I needed to replace the time to update her. But I needed to be calm. As it was, telling Elisabeth was the last thing on my mind. I was so worried that someone would hear my brother’s growls and reveal everything we had been trying to hide for so long. It was a good thing Teresa hadn’t returned yet. We couldn’t afford her to know about Natalia’s and Elisa’s arrival at the motel.
So when Teresa came back in and started asking questions about new arrivals, I didn’t suspect anything. It was normal to ask about newcomers before taking over the reception duties. Teresa’s behaviour was abnormal though. She checked the computer for new reservations with trembling hands. I had been standing over her, trying to fill her in. Her hand stopped at the room reservation for two, with the fake names we used for Natalia and Elisa.
“Did those two ladies come today?” she asked in a trembling voice and her face flushed. What the hell? We used fake identities. Why was she asking me about Natalia and Elisa? Why didn’t she ask about the other four new guests? Was she aware that Natalia had come here? And if so, who told her? Did Ace have a spy inside my brother’s pack?
Suddenly, her question about the newcomers didn’t sound so innocent to me. I was sure that Teresa knew something and I had to inform Blake before he left the motel.
Feigning ignorance, I replied as calmly as possible, hiding my true feelings. I could sense Teresa’s fear from her abnormal breathing. Did the stupid human think she could fool me?
“Yes, they arrived today. I gave them a two-bedroom apartment. Is there anything wrong?” I asked calmly, leaning leisurely on the wall with my arms crossed.
She turned her head at my question and blinked, confused.
“No, no, I was just asking. It’s good that we have more visitors. That means that the motel’s reputation is getting better and better,” she replied.
I smiled. Little stupid human, I thought.
“Well, I have to go back to my wife. Good night, Teresa,” I said and left in long strides, keeping calm.
On my way back to Natalia’s room, I got a call from my brother asking me to go there. Good, he was still there.
I knocked on the door and Blake opened it for me. I stepped in, ready to tell them about Teresa’s questions when Blake received a call.
“Hey, Tim, what’s up? I heard my brother say. Was that Timothy, his childhood friend?
Blake
I opened the door for Drake. When he came inside, my phone rang. Timothy was calling me.
“Hey, Tim what’s up?” I asked my friend.
“Blake, it’s everything all right between you and Natalia?” Timothy asked bluntly.
“Who told you, Tim?” I asked coldly. Suddenly, I had a bad feeling.
Timothy cleared his throat.
“Hm, Emma saw Natalia leave with her friend, carrying some luggage,” Timothy replied.
s**t! I cursed inwardly.
“So, Emma came rushing to you and told you what happened?” I asked Tim and Drake, who had been standing next to me, waved at me.
“Put him on the speaker,” my brother whispered.
What the heck?
“Just do it, Blake. I will explain later,” Drake said.
“Yeah. I came to the packhouse looking for you but Lucas told me you didn’t want to see anyone. Your visitor, that old man, told me you and Natalia had had a misunderstanding and she left. He seemed pretty upset,” Timothy continued.
“Did Fabrizio tell you anything else?” I asked.
“Yeah, he said that Natalia would call a man called Drake to ask him to get a room for her and her friend. Blake, what the hell happened between you two? Why did you fight so badly? Natalia is pregnant and so is Elisa. You shouldn’t have allowed them to leave the pack. What if something happens to them?” Tim sounded pretty upset.
‘Did he tell anyone else? Ask him,” Drake whispered exasperatedly.
“Tim, did you tell anyone else what Fabrizio told you?” I asked my friend, looking at my brother questioningly.
Tim hesitated.
“Tim, did you or did you not?” I requested, using my Alpha tone on my friend. Something shitty must have happened. I could feel it.
“Well, Emma was in my office when I came back and I told her about it. Don’t worry, Blake. All she said was that she hoped you cleared the misunderstanding with Natalia. And then she left,” Tim replied innocently.
“Okay Tim, thank you. Don’t worry about Natalia. She will be back home soon. Don’t tell Emma you spoke to me. I will explain everything once I am back,” I told my stupid innocent friend and disconnected the call.
“I knew it,” Drake growled and turned to me.
“Is Emma a snitch, Blake? Is she Ace’s spy?”
“Why do you say that, Drake,” I asked, waiting for my brother’s explanation. His answer would determine whether I could trust him from now on.
Drake paced up and down the living room, his face flushed with anger.
“Teresa came back and asked me if we had any newcomers. It’s quite normal for receptionists to ask such a question. I didn’t suspect anything, not until she stopped at the fake name reservation I made for Natalia and Elisa. Her question aimed at their reservation and her face flushed as she checked on the reservation with trembling hands.
I suspected that someone tipped her off about Natalia’s arrival. I didn’t show that I suspected her actions, though. When you called, I was on my way here to let you know about it. And now Timothy’s words confirmed my suspicion,” Drake said, running his fingers through his messy hair.
“So if Teresa knows, that means Ace knows as well,” Natalia chipped in and Drake looked at her, nodding.
“And from what Tim told Blake, Ace knows that you called me. And he suspects that Blake and I had talked to each other and solved the issues between us. Why else would you call me?”
“Couldn’t he think that Natalia had called someone else called Drake?” Elisa asked but Drake shook his head.
“Ace is way smarter than that. There are too many coincidences. The motel, the reservation, everything. And if you ask me, Ace probably suspects that I told Blake everything about our previous plans. If I know him well, he must have asked Teresa to check me out. His next move would be to contact Blake and see how my brother reacts to him,” Drake replied, and it felt weird to hear him call me his brother just like that.
I didn’t have much time to think about it when my phone rang again. It was Ace. I looked at Drake and the rest inside the room, showing them the name that appeared on my phone screen.
“Try to stay calm, sweetheart. Drake is right. That scumbag is trying to replace out if you suspect him or not. Don’t fall for his tricks. We still have our plan to put into action,” Natalia said softly, touching my hand. I nodded, smiling at her and answered the call.
“Hello? Ace?”I tried to sound as normal as possible.
“Hello, Blake. I needed to talk to you about our alliance contract. Do you have some time to spare?” Ace’s voice came from the other side of the line.
I closed my eyes and breathed deeply. It took a lot of strength to stay calm.
“Sure, man. Shoot,” I replied calmly
“Well, Blake, I wanted to ask you whether you could transfer the money to my pack account a little sooner than we agreed because I need to get ammunition for the rogue attacks. They are not as frequent as before, but I am afraid of a sudden attack. Would that be possible?”
My face had become an icy mask full of anger. Preventing my true feelings from surfacing was so hard at that moment. Natalia took my hand again and that calmed me down.
“Sure, Ace, why not? I am not in my office right now. Let me finish what I’m doing and I will get back to you as soon as I am at my office. Okay?” I replied, swearing at the bastard inwardly and ended the call after I got his cheerful reply.
“We must change our plans,” I said decisively.
“What do you mean, Blake?” both Massimo and my brother asked.
“Drake’s assumption was right. Ace suspects that we already know his plans. So, he won’t aim for Elisabeth. He doesn’t need Drake now. His main purpose is to kill me and get my pack. If Teresa told him about the reservation, he doesn’t need much to figure out that the identities were fake. Therefore, he will realise that Natalia and Elisa are here. Especially if Teresa sees them in the dining room.”
“What’s your point, Blake?” my brother asked but my wife answered for me.
“Elisa and I will become the bait for Ace. He knows that we are both pregnant. It’s not a coincidence that two pregnant women are staying in one room. So, when Teresa tells him she saw us, he will make his move, leaving Elisabeth out of it. And that will give Drake the time to keep his eyes on Teresa.”
“And to make things easier for Drake, we should take Elisabeth back to the Dark Moon pack where my men will protect her twenty-four seven. I will even ask her doctor to join us at the pack. There is nothing for you to be afraid of, Drake,” I told my brother and Natalia squeezed my hand gently.
“Nothing but me,” Elisabeth showed up from the bedroom. We had left the balcony door open and she followed our voices. She entered the living room holding her swollen bump, trying to stand up straight. Her face was crimson red and she pushed Drake away as he tried to help her stand.
“Baby, why did you leave the bed? The doctor said you shouldn’t move on your own. Let me help you sit down, please,” my brother begged Elisabeth who stubbornly refused.
“You decided to put yourself in danger without telling me anything, Drake. How could you?” Tears ran down her swollen face.
Drake picked her up bridal style and placed her on the empty sofa, caressing her flushed face. I could see how much cared for her.
“Now, do you understand why Elisabeth rejected you, Blake? She feels the same way about Drake as you feel about Natalia. She had no other choice,” the light breeze brought the Moon Goddess’s voice to our ears again and we all froze, except Elisa.
“Is she…” Elisabeth asked and Natalia replied.
“Yes, Ellie. The Moon Goddess has interacted with us today. And I think she supports our decision to keep you away from Ace’s dirty tricks. The baby is almost here, sis. You have another person to think of. And don’t worry about Drake. His big brother will protect him, won’t you, Blake darling?”
The sassiness of that woman! I loved her so much. She had me wrapped around her little finger, but she supported my decisions. And I knew that offering to protect Elizabeth made my wife proud.
“Drake, I need you to go back to the reception. Find an excuse, anything, to send Teresa away for a while and check her phone. We need to make sure she has notified Ace of her replaceings. That way, we will be sure of Ace’s next move. Come back to us and we will proceed with our plan accordingly,” I instructed my little brother.
“And by the time you come back, I will inform Elisabeth about everything, and that will solve the misunderstanding between you,” Natalia added and I smiled. That was my Luna, taking the reins when needed.
Drake left the room and Natalia sat beside Elisabeth, explaining everything that had happened since the day they met at the hospital, not leaving anything out.
By the time Drake came back, Elisabeth had found out how her sister and I had ended up true mates.
“Blake, I need to apologise for what I did. I know I was wrong, but I couldn’t help it,” she told me, lowering her head in embarrassment.
“If it was before, I would loath you for it Elisabeth, but know I am grateful that you rejected me back then,” I answered, walking towards Natalia and caressing her hair.
Drake came back and by the look on his face, I knew Teresa had informed Ace about her suspicions.
“So, what do we do now?” my brother asked.
“First, we need to get Elisabeth out of here. And then, Natalia and Elisa will appear in the dining room. Not tomorrow, though. You need to take the vials Dylan gave you. So two days from now, you will appear in front of Teresa.”
“Blake, are you sure about that? What if something happens to them in the meantime? Are you sure you want to jeopardise their safety like that?” Massimo asked, his voice full of worry, holding Elisa’s hand.
“Nothing will happen Massimo, don’t worry. We won’t do anything without informing you,” Elisa replied.
“I trust Blake, Massimo. Plus, I will be in touch with my husband all the time. Nothing will happen to us.” Natalia added.
“The way I see it, Massimo could stay at our place with you and not show his face, Drake. And Blake should go back to the Dark Moon pack to avoid suspicion. As for me, we will pretend I have contractions and you will rush me to the “hospital,” which will be in Blake’s pack. You will come back and tell Teresa and the others that the doctor admitted me for observation. That way, no one will get suspicious.” Elisabeth took the lead in the conversation and I couldn’t help but admire her way of thinking. What did I expect? She was Natalia’s sister. The White sisters were unpredictable.
“And I will leave the pack after I manage things with Ace and his so-called contract. I will stay near the motel and be ready for action,” I said and my wife smiled at me.
“Ace will try to abduct us to force Blake to hand him the pack’s reins, threatening him with my life and Teresa will try to harm Elisa. With Massimo and you here Drake, Teresa will have a hard time dealing with Elisa. Blake will deal with Emma when he goes back. Then, the three of you will deal with Ace,” my wife announced on my behalf and I smiled proudly. She was indeed a fearless Luna. She could even handle her father’s pack as the Alpha. But that was another story.
“We will make them regret the day they decided to pick on us,” Elisa gritted her teeth, holding Massimo’s hands and my wife smiled excitedly.
“Yes, I have been missing the action Elisa,” she told her friend and they started laughing, leaving us males dumbfounded.
How crazy were our females?
“Crazy enough to marry you after you blackmailed me, baby,” Natalia winked at me and shocked me to the core.
“Oh, boy, I got married to a troublemaker,” I whispered desperately, but the look on my face said otherwise.
“So, let’s get the plan rolling. Massimo, you can stay here with our women and I will leave through the back. Drake, I will wait for you at the end of the road. You should drive there so as not to cause suspicion. I will pick you both up and in the meantime, we can inform Elisabeth’s doctor to meet us at the pack.”
With that, I kissed my wife goodbye and said, “I trust you, baby, you can do this.”
I left with long strides, trying to hide my fear of leaving her. I missed her already. I was determined to bring Ace down and punish him for trying to harm my loved ones.
“Don’t worry about her, Blake! Natalia is special. She can deal with Ace and Teresa,” the Moon Goddess’s whisper reached my ears, but I was still worried.
“You’ve got it coming, Ace,” I gritted my teeth while walking away through the dark alley.
