Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 79
Drake
I left Blake’s office and went to replace Elisabeth. We needed to leave the Dark Moon pack and fast. I felt relieved after confessing to Elisabeth’s father. He needed to know what happened and decide based on the facts, and he would surely not consider me after that. I would speak to my wife and then call Tia at the motel and ask her to prepare our room and the baby’s bed before we arrived. I had already bought everything needed to welcome our baby boy when he was born.
Elisabeth had been breastfeeding our baby under the nurse’s guidance and smiled widely when she saw me. I approached and sat beside her, holding our baby’s tiny hand.
“How are you feeling, sweetheart?”
I kissed her forehead and caressed our son’s baby face.
“Tired but happy, Drake. We made it. Our little treasure is finally with us in good health. What more could I ask for?” she replied, giving our son to the nurse after she finished feeding him.
The latter took the baby and helped him burp, then went on to change his diaper.
“Who brought all these things?” I pointed at the wooden crib and baby console in the room.
“Your father, on the same day Blake brought us here, Drake. After you and your brother left, your father took care of everything,” Elisabeth smiled.
“Drake, did you and Alpha Elias make up?” she whispered carefully so as not to wake our baby boy who was now asleep in his crib.
“Yes, Elle, we did. I don’t know about your father though. I confessed my actions a while ago, and I guess he wasn’t happy about it.”
“Drake you didn’t have to,” she protested.
“I did, Ellie. Your father offered to have us replace him in his Alpha duties and I could never accept it, considering my previous actions. And I made sure he knew it too. We promised each other a new beginning without lies, remember?”
She gripped my hand and smiled.
“You did well, my love,” was all she said.
“I will ask Tia to prepare our room, Ellie. We must go as soon as you feel better,” I informed her.
“Okay, Drake.” Elisabeth nodded in agreement. She never challenged any of my decisions.
A knock on the half-open door interrupted our conversation. My father and Alpha Ray entered the room.
“Go where Drake?” my father asked and I averted my eyes.
“We have to return to our place, father. And then maybe go back to Mexico City. We have connections there and it will be easier to get a job. Right, baby?” I turned to Elisabeth.
“Yes, Drake,” she replied obediently.
“No!” Our parents said in unison and surprised us.
“Dad…” Elisabeth said hesitantly.
“No, Ellie. I can’t afford to lose you again, not now that I found you,” Alpha Ray said.
“That counts for me too, Drake. I don’t want you to leave, son. Please don’t walk away from us again. Allow us to have you around and enjoy watching your baby grow up and become a fine young man. Please, son,” my father begged.
“Besides, you two will have pack duties to perform, Elisabeth,” Alpha Ray added and I looked at him, confused.
“Alpha Ray, I thought I made it clear why I can’t accept your offer,” I protested, holding my wife’s hand. Elisabeth squeezed mine and encouraged me.
“Indeed you have, Drake. But thanks to your honesty and your brother’s reminder, I have concluded that since you haven’t actually harmed anyone and were brave enough to admit your mistakes, that’s more than enough for me, son. It’s not worth losing my daughter and grandchild over your past mistakes. You have changed, Drake. You have matured and can now take responsibility for your actions. To admit your wrongdoings the way you did takes courage and maturity. And you have both, son. I couldn’t think of anyone better to take the pack reins along with my Elizabeth. Please reconsider your decision to leave, Drake. I am more than willing to accept you in the Moon Howler’s pack as the new Alpha and Luna. Please, son,” Alpha Ray asked in a shaky voice.
I felt Elisabeth trembling next to me and held her in my arms.
“Drake?” she mind-linked me.
“Isn’t it time for us to stop running, baby? I have missed my father so much over the years. I trust you, Drake. You learned from your mistakes and would make a fair Alpha, baby. Why don’t we stay, honey? We should try our best and exceed our parents’ expectations this time. Please reconsider for their sake and our son’s sake, my love,” she asked.
I turned to face her, and she was ready to cry.
“I am tired of being alone, baby. I enjoyed my time with my sister, and I know how you feel being around Blake. And our parents have aged Drake. What if something happens to them after we leave?” she insisted.
“Will you be happy if we stay, Ellie? What if the pack doesn’t accept us? What if they rebel when your father appoints us the Alpha and Luna? Won’t your uncle Jake be a better choice for your father than me?” I expressed my worries.
“You have nothing to worry about, my love. My father and uncle will support us along the way. Uncle Jake is still young. He could be your Beta and help you out with everything. And don’t forget that you will have me, Drake. I will always be by your side supporting you, honey. I don’t want our baby to grow up away from the rest of his family. Let’s not do this to him, Drake.” Elisabeth was adamant.
I realised how badly my wife wanted to reunite with her family, our families. In the past years, I always thought Elisabeth was more than happy to be alone with me. She followed me everywhere, supporting my every desire. But now things were different. We had a baby to care for and Elisabeth was right. We should not deprive our son of the opportunity to grow up with our family and be loved as he deserves. He was an innocent baby who hadn’t harmed anyone.
“It’s time you support Ellie’s desire, Drake. You will have my full support in your new duties, and I promise to help you develop into a fair and respected Alpha. Please accept her request and allow us to live a peaceful life with our pup,” my wolf, Gunner, urged me.
I breathed deeply and pondered Elizabeth and Gunner’s words. I then turned to look at my wife and saw the expectation in her eyes.
“Okay, Alpha Ray. Elisabeth and I accept your offer. We will stay and take over the Moon Howler’s pack,” I said and Elisabeth hugged me.
“Thank you, my love. Thank you so much,” she whispered.
I held her in my arms, forgetting anyone else in the room. It was just her and me. My precious Ellie was so happy. I kissed her tears away and comforted her.
Elisabeth’s father cleared his throat and I looked at him.
“I will go downstairs and announce the good news to Blake and Natalia. You don’t need to worry about anything, Drake. Your father and I will guide you in the right direction. And so will your brother. Right, Elias?” he turned to my father.
“Yes,” my father replied, smiling at me.
“We must also arrange to collect all your things and have the staff prepare a room next to the Alpha’s quarters for my grandson. When you come to the Moon Howler’s pack, everything will be ready.” Alpha Ray said enthusiastically. My father smiled at his reaction and followed Alpha Ray out of the room.
Our son woke up and started crying. I picked him up and walked back to my wife, ready to give him to her. The little guy stopped suddenly and I stared at his sleeping figure.
“We haven’t thought of a name, Drake,” Elisabeth reminded me.
“Right! Do you have anything in mind, sweetie?” I whispered.
Elisabeth hesitated.
“Well, I didn’t know I would get to see my dad ever again. And I had thought of naming him Raymond. Raymond junior,” she replied, blushing.
‘And now?” I teased her.
“I haven’t thought of anything else,” she replied softly.
“Then I guess we have no choice but to name him Raymond,” I smiled and watched her face glow.
Only a short time later, my brother and Natalia showed up. Natalia had a wide grin, and my brother was more composed.
“We heard the good news,” Natalia said and walked to me, taking the baby from my arms.
“Hello, handsome,” she said, watching him closely.
“I am glad you accepted Alpha Ray’s proposal, Drake. You must secure your family’s future. And the Alpha position Alpha Ray has offered will help you show your abilities and gain the respect of all the pack members. You will be a good leader, Drake, and a feared one. The rogues know how capable you are and will never attempt an attack of the Moon Howler’s pack,” my brother assured me.
“Drake, whenever you need help, you can ask your brother. He is more than willing to help you, right sweetie?” Natalia intervened and Blake looked at her smiling.
“Yes. Feel free to ask for help, Drake. Although Alpha Ray can assist you with anything, I will be by your side and help you with anything you need,” Blake assured me.
“You did more than enough for me, Blake. I owe you too much,” I replied, lowering my head.
“That’s what brothers are for, Drake,” my brother said and I nodded.
“Yes, brothers should help each other,” I said, smiling and feeling gratitude towards my brother.
“Have you decided what to name my nephew?” Natalia changed the subject and I couldn’t be more grateful.
“Raymond, Nat. We will name him after dad,” Elizabeth replied and Natalia smiled widely.
“Dad will be so happy,” she wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Why would I be happy?” Alpha Ray entered the room and heard Natalia’s last words.
”Not only did you get a grandson; they will name him after you, dad,” Natalia said happily and Alpha Ray’s face flustered.
“We will call him Raymond Junior, dad,” Elisabeth whispered and her father smiled at us.
“Blake, Natalia, where are you? Fabrizio has woken up,” Massimo’s voice startled the four of us. He had used the mind-link Luna Alison created.
