Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 81
Blake
I watched in surprise as my brother pinned Emma to the cell bars. Was she his mate?
“How can that be? I rejected my mate years ago, to stay with Blake” Emma whispered between her efforts to breathe. She was in pain from Drake’s rejection and my brother was choking her to death.
“What? Don’t tell me I am your goddamn second-chance mate,” Drake growled.
“Reject me now!” He snarled, shaking her body violently.
“I… I don’t know who you are,” Emma said, frightened.
“Repeat after me,” Drake ordered.
“I, Emma Jameson,”
“I, Emma Jameson,” Emma whispered.
“Reject you Drake Hunter as my mate,” Drake said coldly.
“What? Are you…”
“Shut up, and repeat.” Drake had lost control and squeezed her neck tighter.
“Reject you Drake Hunter as my mate,” Emma’s voice came out weak, breathless.
Drake released her, clutching his chest and Emma fell to the ground.
“This never happened;” he turned to face Natalia, Timothy and me.
“You will forget about the whole thing once you leave this cell,” he said coldly and turned to leave.
“Drake, wait,” I called him.
“You are too upset to go back to the house. And someone in particular must have felt your anguish. You’d better calm down and think about your excuse since you want to hide the truth from her,” I advised him in a low voice, avoiding mentioning Elisabeth’s name.
Drake nodded and left the prison exasperated.
I returned to the cell, where a pitiful Emma lay on the ground, still holding her stomach and feeling the pain of rejection. Natalia watched her apathetically, waiting for her to return to her senses. She was not finished with Emma yet.
“Get up, bi.tch. I am not done with you yet.” As if sensing my thoughts, Natalia ordered, kicking Emma. The latter growled in pain and didn’t move.
“On my way to see you I thought that the best punishment would be to kill you for your betrayal but I never expected you to be rejected so ruthlessly,” Natalia scowled and Emma lowered her head.
I looked at Tim who had been watching everything with wide eyes, unable to believe that Emma was such a devious person.
“Please don’t hurt me,” Emma begged my wife.
“I know I was wrong to accept that man’s proposal. I promise I will never do anything like that again. Please spare me, Luna.”
It was the first time I heard Emma address my mate with respect. I noticed Natalia’s expression change slightly, but she remained emotionless.
“Do you realise what kind of danger you put us in, Emma? Helping that bas.tard take our babies’ innocent lives? And you want me to forgive you? How can I do that?” Natalia replied stoically, her eyes not leaving Emma’s.
In the meantime, Timothy stepped closer to me, pale as a ghost.
“Besides being a female who lusts after a man that isn’t yours, you are a doctor, Emma. How could you agree to something like that, risking the lives of pregnant women?” Timothy was still unable to believe what Emma had done.
“Timothy, I never expected things to turn out that way. When I refused to work with him, he threatened to blame me for everything. He forced me to tip him off about Luna Natalia’s movements. I thought he was obsessed with her and wanted to take her back no matter the cost,” Emma excused herself crying.
“You are so pathetic, Emma. Even now, you are trying to make everyone pity you. What a shame,” Natalia spat, disgusted.
I wanted to interfere, but I knew Natalia would be angry with me and I didn’t want to upset her even more. So, I kept quiet, waiting to see what Natalia would do.
“My eyes have seen many things these past days. I’ve seen women as bad as you. Women who only cared about killing those unborn babies and harming their mothers. And I feel obligated to protect the world from your kind,” Natalia said coldly.
Taking two steps closer, her eyes turning black. Leia was on the verge of stepping forward again.
“Luna, no! You will endanger the baby’s life,” Timothy growled and swiftly shifted to his wolf form attacking Emma first.
Things happened so fast that I could not react, and neither was Natalia. Timothy sank his canines into Emma’s throat piercing her carotid artery. Muffled sounds came from Emma as she choked on her b***d, staring at Timothy in surprise. On instinct, I stepped forward and held Natalia in my arms, preventing her from watching Emma’s lifeless body spasming on the bloody floor until she died.
Timothy shifted to his human form and I called a guard to get him some clothes. There was no way I would allow Natalia to see my friend’s naked body.
“Timothy, what have you done?” Natalia whispered, her voice trembling with shock.
“Finished Emma, Luna. I could never allow you to harm your baby to punish her for her crimes,” Timothy replied. Pain filled Timothy’s voice for what he had done. He was in love with Emma, yet he stepped forward and killed her to save Natalia and our pup.
“She would not be repentant for her actions. Knowing her character, she would never repent,” Timothy whispered.
“I am taking Natalia out of here. Once you are dressed, come to my office and wait for me,” I instructed my friend and departed holding my wife in my arms.
“Lucas, go to the prison and make sure the guards clean up the mess in Emma’s cell. No one but the guards and us should know what happened today,” I mind-linked my Beta instructing him.
“Blake, what happened?” Lucas asked worriedly.
“Timothy killed Emma. It’s a long story. I will tell you later, Lucas. Do as I say,” I closed the link and helped Natalia to the house.
My wife was in a state of shock.
“I never expected Timothy to react that way, killing Emma. He was in love with her,” she whispered.
“Timothy’s devotion to me as a friend and his Alpha is way stronger than his love for Emma, Nat. He would never allow anything bad to happen to my mate or my child. You were unaware of it at the time, but Leia had lost control and was ready to step forward and hurt Emma. Timothy’s reaction was to protect you and our pup from an unpleasant outcome if Leia surfaced,” I explained, holding her closer to me.
“Natalia, you must rest, sweetheart. You are upset and that might harm the baby. You will need your strength because we haven’t finished dealing with everything. We still have Fabrizio, Massimo and Elisa. And don’t forget about Elisabeth and Drake. We must help them settle down before we can breathe and be free to relax or show weakness.
I helped her lie down and stayed with her until she was asleep. I covered Natalia and left for my office where Tim had been waiting for me. He was sitting on the sofa, his face still pale. He had a glass of whisky in his hand, and the bottle by his side. Lucas was by his side, silent, watching Timothy drink.
“I must thank you, Tim. I know how hard it was for you, but you still preferred to kill Emma to save Natalia and the baby. Your Luna is very upset that you forced yourself into something you didn’t want to do.” I explained.
“She shouldn’t feel that way, Blake. As a doctor, it’s my duty to protect innocent lives. As your friend and subordinate, I have an obligation to care for my Luna’s safety. I realised what a shitty character Emma had. She would not stop looking for ways to hurt Natalia. Her love for you was sick,” Tim said with disgust and sipped his drink.
“Lucas, have you arranged everything?” I asked my Beta.
“Yes, Blake. They cleaned everything up and we buried Emma without anyone noticing,” Lucas replied and I nodded.
I poured myself and Lucas a drink and filled Timothy’s glass. The three of us drank silently, each one in his thoughts.
Drake
I left the prison and wandered around, unable to believe that I had found my fated mate in Emma. my first move was to block Gunner who went berserk inside my mind, confused by the feeling Emma’s presence caused him. I trusted my wolf with my life, but his reaction scared me. We just had our baby with Elisabeth. There was no way I would jeopardise my relationship with Ellie and my son for a woman like Emma, for any woman to be honest.
I felt relieved that Gunner didn’t bring the walls down until Emma rejected me.
“That was a close one,” he commented after he returned to his senses and the pain of rejection evaporated. I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel my insides turning upside down from the pain of breaking the bond. That was when I stared at my brother, realising how much pain he must have felt when Elisabeth rejected him. I endured the pain, telling myself it was the price I had to pay for hurting Blake.
I returned to Elisabeth’s room after I gathered my thoughts. She would suspect that something was wrong if I didn’t calm down. Blake was right, so I followed his advice.
“Drake, you are here. What took you so long, darling?” She was holding our son in her arms, breastfeeding him again.
“We need to do this a few times until he learns to take my n****e alone,” Elizabeth smiled.
“I’m jealous,” I said, teasing her and she blushed.
I sat beside her and held my son’s tiny hand.
“He is perfect,” I whispered looking at his adorable tiny face.
“He is,” Elisabeth replied.
“Baby, are you sure you want us to stay in your father’s pack and succeed him?” I asked, whispering, trying not to startle my son.
“Yes, Drake. Enough with running away from our problems. Since we started facing them, our lives have gotten better. I have my sister back and you have Blake. And our parents. We are no longer alone, Drake. We have our families and I would not make the same mistake and lose them again.” Elisabeth was firm.
“Where were you, honey? While I was sleeping I felt you were in pain and I woke up. I meant to mind-link you but our boy woke up and the nurse gave him to me. I noticed you were feeling better and didn’t disturb you. Is everything okay?” she had a worried expression when her eyes met mine.
“It is now,” I replied, trying to avoid the subject.
Natalia’s arrival interrupted our conversation.
“Is he awake?” she asked Elisabeth as she approached us.
“Yes, I just finished breastfeeding him,” my wife replied and gave the baby to her sister.
“Natalia, you look tired. No, you look upset,” Elisabeth noted and Natalia held the baby higher to make him burp.
“Emma is dead,” she said slowly, emotionless.
“What? Did you kill her?” Elisabeth asked and I looked at Natalia, waiting for her reply.
“No, Timothy did. The doctor who helped you have the baby. They were friends and he was in love with her. But he killed her to prevent Leia from stepping forward and endangering my baby’s life,” Natalia replied, her eyes on our baby.
“Was she his mate?” Elisabeth asked and Natalia looked at me.
“No, she wasn’t. Her mate rejected her when he found out about the bond that connected them,” Natalia said.
“You should tell her, Drake. It’s unfair to keep this from my sister,” Natalia mind-linked me, forgetting that Elisabeth was now connected to the link Luna Alison had created for us.
“Tell me what, Natalia? Drake? What does Natalia mean?” Elisabeth asked, confused.
Natalia looked at me with regret.
“I am sorry, Drake,” she said.
“Drake?” Elisabeth touched my arm, and I looked at her.
“Emma was my mate, Ellie. I rejected her when I found out and forced her to reject me too,” I said, lowering my head and Elisabeth’s hold on my arm became tighter.
“What?” she asked in disbelief.
“I realised it when I entered her cell, Ellie. And I rejected her right away. She rejected me too.”
“Right after he threatened to kill her,” Natalia added and Elisabeth looked at me with teary eyes.
“So, the pain you felt was after she rejected you,” she whispered.
“Yes, but it didn’t last long, Ellie. The woman meant nothing to me. You and Raymond are my entire world, baby. Nothing and no one can change that,” I hugged her.
Elisabeth buried her face in my chest and breathed deeply, relieved.
I looked up and Natalia held my son, smiling. She winked and gave me the thumbs-up.
