AARON

"What?!" Luke and Zach chorused in astonishment.

Baron and Trenton just looked like they had known already. Ever since that day I had confessed it in Katherina's room that I was her mate, Luke and Zach had not taken me serious, they thought I was just being jealous of Katherina's relationship with Baron.

Trenton had been the only one who had not acted surprised, it would seem like he had always known or I did not know.

Baron just passed me a blank stare, same stare he also gave Katherina who by the way was staring at me as though I was crazy for doing what I had just done...or rather, saying what I had just said. But it was the truth, she had confirmed it herself.

"She's your mate?" Dad asked, looking at us both.

"Yes. I only said it so there will be no more secrets that mom will not be aware of." I told him.

Mom looked at me, but merely glanced at Katherina. Turning to me again, she said. "That's good." Then she stood up. "Is anyone up for lunch?"

"Yes." Zach and Lucas nodded.

She turned to dad. "Lunch will be nice, thank you."

"I'm sure the rest of you want lunch too." She concluded, and went into the kitchen.

Katherina stood and ran out of there, mom saw her but pretended not to. I stood, I should go be with her. She would need someone to be with her. I felt quite helpless, I had been surprised as well seeing her wolf and it was a very big one. Her wolf was beautiful but strong. I could almost say it was like an Alpha wolf.

Alpha wolves were usually different from the other wolves. They were bigger, stronger, most feared, powerful, ruthless and very dangerous. Katherina's wolf had been that way. I watched her run out of the place.

I understood mom's pain but I wished she would at least give Katherina an audience. To hear her own side of the story. I was almost near the stairs when I saw Baron coming out of the place too.

I could not understand the look on his face, I had thought he wanted to go meet Katherina upstairs as he usually did but he walked past me surprisingly, and out of the mansion. I thought of going to meet him.

I became confused; I was torn between going to him and my mate which was a surprise to me because I had no reason been with Baron in the first place. He never wanted me to be with him.

He had returned for revenge and through Katherina had gotten it. He blamed me for what happened years ago, if only he knew I was not involved. I was innocent, I had no idea at all. I wasn't a part of anything that had happened during that period.

I climbed up the stairs, and stood before Katherina's door. I tried the handle but it was locked, I took the stairs back down and decided to replace Baron. Maybe Katherina needed this time to be alone.

I ran out of the building but he was nowhere to be found, his car was not in the parking space. I walked to my own car, thinking where he might be. I entered my car and zoomed out of the compound. It was a while since I'd dialed his line, I decided to dial it, it rang but he did not pick up.

I drove to school, though skeptical he would be there, I saw students walking around the school premises, I guess they dispersed them from the events hall and learning had resumed. I walked everywhere, searching for him. "Have you seen Baron?" I asked a student who was standing idly at the front of a building with 'Library' written on it.

"No, Your Highness." He immediately came to attention, and bowed in respect but I was already gone to actually pay attention.

There was this strange feeling in me that I was having, it wanted me to talk to Baron badly, I had no reason why but then again, I could not refuse nor ignore it. I kept asking some persons, because I had no idea where he would be. "Why did Katherina's wolf not appear on the Wolf It day? What happened?" A student was talking to two other people, I guessed they were group of friends.

"I have no idea, maybe she was scared." Another one answered.

"No matter how scared she was, it could have still surfaced." The third one contributed.

"Exactly, but see her transformation in the events hall, she's very big and dangerous. Almost like an Alpha wolf." The first person said.

So I was not the only person who thought this? I walked past them and soon heard another group of people talking about what had happened today too.

"Katelyn truly is evil, see what she did to poor Katherina." This was from the Goth that liked Trenton.

"She's so wicked. She had been taken to the hospital. She's lucky, else Katherina would have killed her. That girl's wolf is something else.. wow." Another Goth girl sounded quite awed.

"Very lucky. When I saw that transmutation, I was tempted to jump out of my skin in fear and race out of there." The guy amongst five girls said.

I walked past them, when they noticed it was me, they bowed, chorusing the greeting. "Good day, Your Highness."

"Yes, Uhm, have any of you, by any chance, seen Baron?" I questioned.

They all shook their heads.

"Alright." I walked away, to my car and zoomed off, driving through one path I remembered us going as young pups and saw his car there.

I stopped and got down. I ran through the open forests with cool breeze and warm sunlight bathing every leaves golden yellow. Then I spotted him from a distance, but he was not alone, this person was bathed in blood and holding a knife. Katelyn.
