Chapter 1604 A Heavy Blow

Elijah didn't know what to say.

"My wife must be the most reasonable woman in the world!" He thought.

"But he's Gideon." Elijah lowered his gaze, his expression turning somewhat desolate as he started muttering with jealousy.

Sally was quite the veteran in dealing with people.

She could tell what Elijah was thinking from a mile away.

"Hey, but you were the one who defeated him and married me."

Elijah couldn't help smiling, his lips curving upward.

"However, I don't think he'll just let it go like this." Sally seemed deflated.

Elijah freed one hand and held Sally's hand. "It's all right. I'll handle it."

Sally looked at Elijah, her heart immediately feeling a lot lighter.

She suddenly remembered a lecture on relationships she had attended a long time ago. The psychologist had said that having an emotionally stable partner was very fortunate and could even change a person's life.

At that time, she had been disdainful of such claims.

She didn't believe in the potential benefits emotional stability could offer.

Yet, Elijah was confirming what that psychologist had said.

"So, I'll leave it to you then?" Sally said merrily.

"Yup!" During the past few days, Elijah had been unusually content.

Sally even felt that he seemed less distant.

Once they were back at home, a servant hurried to them.

With grief on her face, the servant lamented how a madman had come looking for Sally and how she was nearly beaten up by the man.

"I've been working in this household for almost all my life and have never encountered such a rude person. It scared me half to death!"

Only then did Sally replace out that Gideon had even come to Elijah's house. She began to worry again.

Elijah had been away for a few days, and work had been piling up.

Compared to before they became intimate, he seemed to be sticking closer to her.

So, while he worked in his office, Sally lounged on the sofa in his study, replying to work messages.

As she was replying, she noticed a message from Athena that got pushed to the bottom of the list.

When she hit rock bottom, surrounded by negative criticisms and hostility from even the lowest of the low, Athena was the only one who showed kindness toward her. Sally knew she was a true friend.

Sally replied quickly: [My phone had been switched off during the past few days. I already know now.]

After a while, Athena replied: [I just received a call from Fred. He said Gideon sneaked out of the hospital and went to the hotel entrance to confront you two. Is that true?] [Exactly! Thanks to him, I just found out my husband is quite skilled at fighting. With a couple of moves, he dislocated Gideon's arm, and then with another move, he put it back!] Upon reading Sally's message, Athena paused for a moment, then burst into laughter.

Sally was someone who wore her heart on her sleeve. It seemed that she had definitely let go of Gideon and was ready to move forward.

Athena sighed, full of emotions.

She had no idea why those high and mighty young men always failed to appreciate what they had until they lost it, only ever trying to redeem themselves after their wives divorced them.

However, something else got her attention. Athena regained her focus and quickly typed on her phone: [Did your husband really fight him? Fred just told me that Gideon coughed up blood and was sent to the hospital. Was it because your husband beat him up?]

Sally was taken aback by the information. She looked up at Elijah.

Elijah was in the middle of a meeting when he noticed Sally shooting him a panicked look, pleading for help.

Right away, he said, "Let's pause for a moment. Wait for me a little while."

Upon saying that, Elijah got up and walked over to her. "What's wrong?"

"Be honest with me. When you fought Gideon just now, did you use some sort of power?" Sally asked, "I just heard that Gideon coughed up blood after we left."
