Chapter 1649 Brutal Truth

"Are you scared now?" Sally looked at her, tears filling her eyes, her voice choking, "But Jess, have you ever thought about the malice I endured over the past decade because of you? If Athena hadn't discovered your scheme today and those videos and photos were released at my wedding, would you still want me alive?"

Sally paused as she looked at Jessica.

"What a foolish question I'm asking. If you dared to do this, you expected these outcomes," Sally said, then turned away without looking at Jessica again. "Elijah, Athena, let's go."

Sally tightly held Elijah's hand and headed straight out. Athena followed.

Jessica was in a panic, seemingly wanting to plead with Athena.

Athena spoke coldly, "Your father and brother will come for you soon."

Jessica's eyes widened, and she felt a chill down her spine.

"Mrs. Crawford, please give me one more chance. I won't do it again, never again!"

"Did you ever think of giving Sally a chance?" Athena asked without mercy.

Jessica sobbed uncontrollably, continuously admitting her mistakes.

Athena showed no sympathy, firmly believing in karma.

She ignored Jessica's pleas and exited the room.

As Athena was about to leave, a man stumbled out from the opposite room, taking her by surprise.

"Gideon, why are you here?"

Gideon Hale's face was pale as if he was overwhelmed. He couldn't even stand properly. He looked at Athena, "Was it all fake?"

Athena furrowed her brows with concern.

The tears flooded from Gideon's eyes, "All the rumors, were they fake?"

Athena sighed, "She's your loved one. You should... know her better than outsiders."

Gideon, clutching his chest as if in great pain, bent over.

He had not been feeling well that day after consuming a few drinks.

He had initially come over to replace the restroom.

But coincidentally, he saw Sally and her husband hurrying into a private room.

Concerned for Sally, he hurried over.

Little did he know, the conversation he overheard next felt like he was plunged into the depths of hell.

"When did Elijah replace out?" Gideon looked up at Athena.

Athena thought for a moment, "I'm not sure. But judging by his expression in the room just now, he probably just learned of Sally's past sufferings." Upon hearing this, Gideon's tears kept rolling, but he laughed amidst his sorrow.

"So, I truly didn't deserve..."

Gideon remembered that before those photos and videos spread about half a month earlier, he and Byron, along with some friends, were skiing.

Late one night, due to no reception, he missed several calls from Sally.

When he called her back, she sounded upset but didn't divulge any details.

Recalling it now, that night was probably when she had almost been violated, right?

The pain in Gideon's heart was even more intense.

"Gideon, it's all in the past now. Sally doesn't want to see you like this," Athena softly said.

"Athena, if I had trusted and defended her, would we not have ended up like this?" With a tear-streaked, pale face, Gideon looked sad and messy. Athena remained silent, implicitly agreeing with him.

Gideon managed a smile and took a deep breath to steady himself, then waved at Athena, "I need to go..."
