Chapter 1753 The Retribution

"So Daphne was dead?" Evie was shocked.

"No, she didn't die. Troublemakers like her can't die that easily. She got caught. Samuel and Daphne were arrested together!" Sally chuckled, "Someone had proof of their wrongdoing and reported it to the police. At first, the evidence wasn't solid, and they might have been sentenced to less than three years. But here's the ironic part. Daphne got badly beaten, developed a deep hatred for Samuel, spilled some major secrets voluntarily, and even provided evidence. Now, Samuel is facing a life sentence, and his two older brothers are also implicated and arrested!"

"So, one shouldn't do bad things after all!" While enjoying her skewered meat, Evie summarized. "As the saying goes, a bad penny always comes back."

Athena didn't say much.

She ate slowly and listened quietly.

She wasn't aware of the subsequent developments.

"Now, let's talk about that pair of siblings," Sally continued after taking a big sip of iced cola, "Recently, news spread about Daphne being involved in the death of Samuel's original wife. It caused quite a stir and was widely discussed on social media. So people who know them must have found out too. Roland had a girlfriend he had been dating for a while. They were having relationship issues even before this incident. When the girl learned about it, she gave up on Roland. Soon after, she went on a blind date and found another partner. When Roland learned about this, he couldn't take it. On the night both his parents were arrested, he bought a knife and waited in the place where the girl often frequented!"

"Oh my goodness!"

Evie covered her mouth in astonishment.

Athena frowned subconsciously and asked, "And then?"

"The girl's new partner is a military veteran with a strong background, and he defended himself and fatally struck Roland when Roland tried to attack him with a knife!"

"And then Roland was dead?" Evie was even more surprised.

Sally nodded and continued, "It was Roland's fault. The knife was too sharp. Roland accidentally cut his neck when the guy disarmed him. He died on the spot. It's said that he didn't even make it to the ambulance."

"It serves him right!"

Evie said indignantly.

If Roland hadn't died, that poor girl might have suffered.

"But what about that man? Isn't this a case of self-defense?" Evie wondered.

"It's not just self-defense. It's also acting heroically!" Sally whispered, "According to reliable information, Mark has contacted the Timberlake family's legal team."

Hearing this, Evie immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

As everyone knew, the Timberlake family's legal team was incredibly skilled.

Even if you combined Imbe Group's and Stella Group's legal teams, they still wouldn't match the Timberlake family's team.

"Good job, Mark!" Evie praised.

"And what about Beatrice?" Athena finally asked.

Sally snorted softly, "She didn't go to jail, and she didn't die. But she's not having an easy time either. Lately, the biggest issue is her involvement in selling fake luxury goods."

"Huh?" Evie was shocked. "Even though Samuel isn't wealthy, he is still well off. And the Quinn Group gives dividends to Samuel every year."

"He has money, but he spent it all on Roland," Sally said disdainfully, "Beatrice used to travel, and people she knew would ask her to buy luxury bags, shoes, and such for them. Because she's from a wealthy family, no one would suspect her when she sold high-quality replicas, and sometimes when a few people questioned her, she wouldn't escalate things. She'd quickly refund the money and block them so they couldn't do business with her again!"
