Chapter 1782 Return Date Uncertain

Gideon's assistant had been on high alert ever since Athena arrived.

After Athena dropped off Gideon, Levi didn't leave, always on standby in the garage until evening.

Levi, unable to hold on any longer, dozed off on the steering wheel. The exclusive ringtone for his boss then rang.

"Mr. Hale!"

"Come in."

Gideon's voice sounded a bit hoarse.

Levi thought. "He might have caught a cold from the rain."

Exiting the car and entering the house, he recalled where the cold medicine was stored in the medicine cabinet.

Upon entering, Levi saw Gideon sitting on the sofa in casual home attire.

At first glance, Levi was taken aback.

Mr. Hale seemed different.

Lately, Mr. Hale had been constantly surrounded by a gloomy aura.

Now, that aura was gone, and he seemed surprisingly calm.

The assistant thought to himself. Mrs. Crawford truly is a miracle worker.

She managed to calm down Mr. Crawford before, and now she's tamed the raging Mr. Hale!

"Mr. Hale!"

Levi approached Gideon.

Gideon looked up at him.

Though the signs on his face were faint, Levi could tell that Gideon had cried bitterly.

"There are three things on the table for you." Gideon pointed to three envelopes.

"What are these...?" Levi was puzzled.

"The first one is your termination letter, along with the related compensation agreement." Gideon said.

Levi was immediately flustered, "Mr. Hale, what did I do wrong? Was it because I let Mrs. Crawford into your house? I know I made a mistake, but considering the years I've served you, can you give me another chance?"

"Levi, do you want to be an assistant all your life?" Gideon looked at him with a hint of exasperation.

"I'm willing to be Mr. Hale's assistant for life!" Levi's eyes welled up with tears.

"But I don't want to be Mr. Hale anymore," Gideon said, half-closing his eyes. "There's also a stock transfer agreement for Imbe Group and a recommendation letter in the envelope. Take them to Athena. You've been involved in all the projects I handled for the Crawford family. No one is better suited to take over."

"Stock transfer agreement?" Levi was even more confused.

Mr. Hale's stake in Imbe Group wasn't that significant, but its monetary value was still considerable.

"It's your compensation." Gideon replied, "Levi, can I trust you? Can I entrust these matters to you?"

"Mr. Hale." Levi's voice trembled. "Are you planning to take over the family business? It's okay. I'll still be your assistant. I'll help you manage the work at Imbe Group, I..."

"The second document." Gideon interrupted him.

Levi looked over, a bad feeling growing in his heart.

"It's a document renouncing my inheritance rights."

Levi felt as if he'd been struck by lightning.

"Mr. Hale! You can't joke about your inheritance rights!"

"Of course, it's not a joke. Please read it at the Hale family shareholders' meeting next month."

Levi stared at Gideon, feeling like this was Gideon's way of settling his affairs.

"Mr. Hale, what are you planning to do? Didn't Ms. Campbell ask you to live well? Are you thinking of dying?"

Gideon, startled by the shout, replied, "Who said anything about dying? Can't you hope for something good for me?"

"Then what are you doing?"

"Just shedding some burdens I don't like and entrusting some matters I can't let go of," Gideon said, petting the cat sleeping on his lap. "I've booked a flight to Iceland. I'll embark on a journey worldwide tomorrow with no set return date."
