Chapter 79

Ares POV

When I originally decided to host a meeting within my father's office, hadn't realized it was going to take hours just for us to finally get somewhere. 'Really didn't think this one threw did you' grumbles Zeus, having wanted to go to our mate as today was the day she was finally being released from the hospital and Eros and I had wanted to greet her and bring her home but unfortunately, this meeting was taking way longer than it was supposed to.

Shifting my gaze towards a clock on my father's desk I finally see that we've been sitting here for a good 3 hours and it was starting to take its toll on me as I was beginning to get restless as was Eros as Rick, Athena's Uncle, moved to speak up.

"We need to start thinking of a plan for when the Rogue King decides to attack, this pack can't be caught defenseless should Ezra decide to do a sneak attack" remarks Rick his eyes scanning to those within the room, for within the room was Ares, Eros, Rick, Isaac, Ashton, Kai, Seth, Sam, Brayden and Addison along with Alarick and Gwen, the girls, Sophia, Emma and Emily all standing off to the side of the room as all the males talk.

"Who says anything about being defenseless? Just let that oversized prick try, the moment he steps foot onto pack grounds we'll be ready for him" chimes Sam, not liking to hear his pack be called weak.

"No one is saying that idiot, but Alpha Rick makes a valid point, we need to be prepared for anything, after all if him not trying to pick a fight with Ares was anything then just think of his letter that he sent" grunts Seth as he looks to Sam, causing those within the room to shudder for after the first initial conflict between Ezra and Ares, Ezra on the other hand had decided to send them a letter with a very detailed letter about how he was going to wage war on the Mystic Shadow Pack and burn everyone and everything to the ground while fipping Athena away once and for all.

'Over our dead body' grunts Deimos who had finally managed to bounce back after being separated from his mate during the last two

weeks.

'Exactly pal, no way is he going to get away with anything' remarks Eros back to him, his attention currently not on those within the room as Isaac moves to speak up next.

"Easy now, let's not go making rash decisions, first of all has anyone told Athena about this? Or of the note that was sent?" asks Isaac, summoning a white elephant into the room as everyone becomes silent

Looking to those within the room, does Isaac sigh, "You know she's going to be pissed the moment she replaces out your hiding this from her, after all she's your Luna she has a right to know" remarks Isaac unaware that Athena, Elise and Cara where just outside the door and listening in on their conversation.

"She may be Luna but she's pregnant and I will not have our mate jeopardizing her well being for a war" I growl now annoyed that Isaac would even bring it up.

"And why not? I might be pregnant but I'm very capable of helping elsewhere and you know it" snaps Athena as she moves to enter the room, her eyes trained on those within it as Cara and Elise both move to enter as well. "A-Athena... We didn't expect you to be out of the hospital already" murmurs Rick hesitantly as he moves to watch his niece as she slowly approaches her mates.

Ignoring her uncle, does Athena continue to watch her mates. "Well? Why wasn't I informed? Clearly everyone else knew except me and don't use that line about me being pregnant! I'm clearly capable of holding my own" growls Athena as she watches her mates with narrowed eyes as she waits.

Amused by Athena's voice does Gwen move over to the fuming girl as she carefully moves to embrace her. "Easy there sweetheart, I'm sure my sons didn't mean any harm by not telling you, after all I'm sure they have their reasons" replies Gwen as she carefully looks to her boys before carefully leading the girl over to a chair before she could pounce on the twins.

Chapter 79

Glancing towards a clock again and I see another 2 hours had passed since the last time I had checked and I all but swallow nervously now, for it's now been 5 hours and as mates we had failed to properly bring our mate home and now here she was home and upset over the fact we hadn't included her in the details, details I would never want my mate to have to go through or listen as we plan out grueling details over what to do, no these are things I would never want her to hear and yet here she was, inside our father's office listening to what was being said about Ezra, the Rogue King.

Taking in the silence does Athena move to speak again, "Please don't stop on my account just because I'm here, because clearly you all didn't have a problem with it before" growls Athena, her mood swings kicking in because of the pregnancy. Giggling, Elise moves to sit in Ashton's lap, the need to be close to her Luna a given as it was often hard to be away from him during times like these and sometimes she wished there was just peace for everyone. "I like your mate Ares, Eros, so feisty." "Feisty ain't the word I'd use Elise, more like heart, there's a lot of heart in her" comments Cara as she moves to sit with Brayden and Addison, her dragon mates always a warm welcome to situations like these as she moves to keep her focus on Athena as she speaks. "Well? Who's planning to speak next? Anyone? No? Ok fine" says Athena with narrowed eyes before speaking again, "If no one wants to speak up then I'll go" starts Athena as she moves to look at everyone within the room.

"I just want to say that before anyone goes off planning any sort of attack on Ezra, just know that he has access to witches all thanks to Lily" admits Athena finally as if dropping a bomb on everyone as everyone moves to look at her closely. "W-Witches? Are you sure about that love?" asks Eros, his eyes solely on hers.

"Yep" says Athena, her eyes serious. "After all its how he kept me hidden for 2 fucking weeks, all because of a witch."

Upon hearing that, I try my hardest to hold back my rage, for of course a witch would have been used in cloaking her whereabouts which would also explain why we had yet to replace Lily who seemed to have all but disappeared from those around her. 'So much for taking the easy way' mumbles Zeus not liking the fact we were now dealing with witches while fighting off Rogues in the process.

'I know' I grunt, not liking the way things were looking either.

"At least we have until the next Full Moon to figure things out" murmurs Sam, unaware he mentioned something that he shouldn't have.

'SAM' I snapped to him via the pack link not wanting to use my voice when scolding him.

'What?' asks Sam back to me.

'You weren't supposed to mention the Full Moon' I reprimanded back, frustrated that he slipped.

'Ops... Sorry' answers Sam timidly.

"Full Moon?" asks Athena, drawing my attention towards her, mentally wishing she hadn't heard that part as Ezra had given us until the next full moon to decide or otherwise that was when he would attack us, with the intention of wiping us out. Sighing, I know there's no point in lying to her as I move to nod my head, "Yes love, Ezra has given us until the next Full Moon to decide, The decision was to either hand you over and release all claim to you or fight in an all out war and the winner gets you fair and square, in which the loser dies and since Eros and I refuse to just hand you over to him, we chose to fight him instead which is why a war must happen because Zeus and I refuse to let you go"

Agreed, Deimos and I would gladly fight for you our love instead of just freely handing you over to them" replies Eros with determination, a determination that was so intense that you could practically feel it, our beautiful yet wonderful mate too stunned for words as she took in everything that was just said to her.

every danger there was, as you are ours, are one true mate and come hell or high water, we'll fight to protect you if it's the last thing we do, I silently say, determined with every fiber in my body to do just that, to make sure that our mate stayed forever safe as well as our pups.
