Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 4
Mason's
POV
I walked into class with my hands in my pocket and an unfazed expression. It wasn't an act, it had become part of me. I couldn't change even if I tried. Screams and cheers resounded in the classroom as soon as I walked in. I really hoped they would stop drawing so much attention to me but they never stopped. I hadn't fully entered the classroom yet and I could feel an icy glare on me. I turned towards where I was getting that vibe from and it was her. Again.
The girl I had met in the hallway. My mate. That was still a shocking fact. One minute I was casually making my way to school and the next, I found my mate standing right in front of me. I was dumbstruck when my wolf claimed her as our mate. I couldn't bring myself to say anything. I could see she was also surprised at first but her surprise turned to anger. I thought I was mistaken by what I saw but meeting her in class again proved that I wasn't. What I saw was indeed right.
She was glaring at me with so much hatred and anger. It wasn't the type of anger I got from girls that I refused to go out with or accept their gifts. This anger stemmed from within. I could see the rage burning in her eyes whenever she looked at me. So much anger, so much hatred. I wondered why when this was our first time meeting. Was it because she found out I was her mate? Didn't she like that fact? I sat on my seat ignoring the cheers.
If she didn't like that we were mates, that made the two of us. I didn't like it either. I don't dislike her. I disliked this whole mate thing. I always dreaded the day I would replace my mate and it happened today. Thankfully, she looked like she hated me to the core but I couldn't care less. She was an adult and thus could do whatever the hell she wanted.
"Aren't you curious as to why she showed us such hostility? I have never been treated so coldly before," Ileus my wolf grumbled.
"Neither have I but it's good anyway," I replied.
"What's so good about it? We just found out that our mate hates us for no reason. We are used to girls fawning over us and screaming our name with love but being hated is a first," he said. I sighed.
"What are you trying to say?" I inquired.
"Are you comfortable with this type of treatment?" he asked curiously.
"I am more than comfortable," I retorted.
"Well, I'm not. We need to replace out what's wrong and why she's been like that. The only way to replace out is if..."
"Don't even think about it. I'm not speaking to anyone," I hurriedly cut him off.
"Do you want to stay mateless forever?" he asked in disbelief. I thought about it for a second.
"That won't be such a bad idea. Imagine the peace that comes with that," I replied. He growled in response.
"I'm not in the mood for this conversation, Ileus. Let it go," I said.
"You do know you can't keep on ignoring this issue forever right? How long do you plan on keeping it aside?" he asked.
"For as long as it takes," I muttered.
"Mr. Martinez? Do you care to share your thoughts with the class?" the teacher asked. I looked up at him and realized that he was right in front of my desk. The other students were staring at us. I was so engrossed with Ileus that I had completely forgotten I was in class. The teacher seemed to have been trying to get my attention for a while but I never noticed which was why he walked up to my desk.
"Can't you share your thoughts with us?" he inquired with furrowed brows.
"I can't. It's a private matter," I responded curtly.
"In that case, solve all the equations written on the board. Failure to do so will result in detention for the rest of the week," he threatened. I stood up without uttering a word and walked towards the board. I glanced at the equation before picking up the marker and solving each and everyone without any stress. After I was done, I dropped it and walked back to my seat. Everyone began to applaud again except for her of course.
What were they even applauding for? Even the dumbest person in the entire school would be able to do what I just did. It was easy.
"He's so cool," someone gushed.
"I told you we were on the right track for being his fans. His intelligence is on another level," another said. I laid my head on my desk to rest, since I wasn't learning anything anyway. The teacher tried to calm them all down again. He spent half of his time trying to make them keep quiet. At this rate, they won't be able to learn anything, not that it was any of my business. I closed my eyes and slept for the rest of the class.
When I woke up, he was done and mostly everyone had left. I stood up and my feet knocked some things over. I glanced toward them. The floor was filled with the different gifts that I had rejected in the hallway. I sighed and jumped over them. Walking out of the class, I was met with the face of someone. I turned around and hurriedly walked in another direction. I could feel her gaining up on me. I walked through different twists and turns to confuse her.
After a while of walking, I realized I couldn't hear the footsteps anymore. I glanced back and let out a deep breath of relief. Turning back towards the direction I was headed, I was met with her scowling face. "Were you trying to play hide and seek with me?" she asked, folding her hands in front of her. I sighed in defeat.
"I didn't realize you were following me," I replied.
"Liar, you were trying to run from me," she insisted.
"Whatever," I retorted. She grabbed my arm with a wide smile.
"My dear lovely brother. You know you are the best right?" she inquired, resting her head on my arm.
"What do you want?" I deadpanned. She raised her head with a giggle.
"After we parted ways in school today, I was scrolling through my social media page and I realized that lots of people were asking for a picture of you..."
"If this is your way of asking me for a picture, I'm not doing it," I replied, cutting her off.
"Why not? It's just one picture," she whined.
"Mady, I hate taking pictures and I know you too well, one photo is going to turn into a full photoshoot. Besides, I remember already agreeing to this request before," I answered.
"That was last year. You've changed since then. Please, it's only going to be one photo, just one. Please, please," she pleaded with a pout. I glared at her and she smiled knowing what I was about to say next. "Fine. Just one and this is the last one," I said through gritted teeth. She laughed heartily. She knew I could never refuse her. She brought out her phone.
"Ready? Smile," she said. I stood rigidly with a blank look.
"Are you about to get sentenced for a crime? It's not that hard to smile," she complained.
"Forget about the photo then," I responded, getting ready to leave.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I won't complain again," she promised and finally took the picture. She stared at it for a while and shrugged.
"It doesn't matter anyway. All they want to see is your face. My work is done," she said with a smile. She glanced up at me.
"Is something wrong?" she inquired. I dipped my hands into my pockets.
"Why would you ask me that?" I replied wondering if she found out about my mate.
"You look exceptionally gloomy. I know you always look gloomy but this is on a whole new level. Tell me what's going on," she probed. Thank goodness, she doesn't know. I would like to keep this to myself for a while. "There's nothing going on. I'm perfectly fine," I replied.
"You sure?" she asked. The bell suddenly rang signaling the beginning of another class.
"I am. Get going already. You are going to be late," I said, turning around to leave.
"I'm going to meet you later for us to talk. Okay?" she called out to me. I left without responding. I slowed down in my steps when I came across her. Lexi Jones. It was impossible to notice her delicate features. She had long black hair, was of average height, her
small lips up in a scowl, and her brown skin glowed brightly giving her an innocent look but her big doe brown eyes told me otherwise. It conveyed the most hateful gaze I had ever seen. With her head raised high and my face a blank look, we walked past each other without sparing ourselves another glance. Like two complete strangers.
