Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 25
Mason's POV
"What do I do?" Vivian whispered to me. I shrugged nonchalantly. She glared at me hiding behind Mady and occasionally glancing towards the door. "What is that familiar scent?" Mum asked immediately as she walked in.
"What scent?" Mady asked.
"Nevermind. It's not possible anyway. I was supposed to get her myself next week," she replied. Mady and I both glanced at each other.
"Mason, how did the meeting go?" she inquired.
"Fine, I guess," I mumbled. She glanced around the room.
"I was going to ignore this scent thinking it was just my imagination but it's too strong for me to ignore. Vivian, come out right now," she ordered in a serious tone.
"Vivian? How did you know she was here?" Mady asked in surprise.
"Because I know what she can do. Also, you just confirmed my suspicions," she answered.
"f**k!" Mady let out a low curse under her breath.
"Language," Mum ordered sternly.
"Hi," Vivian called out meekly with a wave of her hand.
"You! I was supposed to get you next week. What are you doing here?" Mum asked in surprise. Mady hurriedly stepped out of the way. I leaned my back against the headboard and watched them with my arms crossed in front of me.
"I wanted to know what it felt like to ride on an airplane alone. I wanted my privacy not constantly being looked after. Does that make any sense?" Vivian asked, sounding doubtful.
"No. It doesn't make any sense. How did you leave without your grandparent's knowledge? Do they even know you are here?" Mum replied. Vivian stood up from the bed.
"Sort of. In a way," she mumbled.
"What does that even mean?" Mum asked rhetorically, bringing out her cell phone from her bag to call who I assume to be our grandparents.
"Please don't call them. The scolding from you is enough. I don't want another one," Vivian pleaded.
"You said they knew you were coming right? Let's call them and confirm," Mum said firmly, dialing a number on her phone. Vivian hurriedly walked up to her reaching for her phone but mum held it higher knowing Vivian was going to try to take the phone. "They didn't know. They knew I was coming but I never informed them that I didn't tell anyone over here. Please don't call them. It will only make them feel bad," Vivian hurriedly explained. Mum brought down her hand and disconnected the call. "Explain in detail. Now," she ordered.
"I was supposed to come next week but I booked my flight for this week. I told Grandma and Grandpa that I wanted to give you all a surprise visit. They insisted that they had to call you both first but I told them Mason and Mady already knew of my arrival and they would pick me up at the airport. Grandpa drove me to the airport himself and waited for me to board my plane. Grandma even wanted to come along but I persuaded her not to," she paused for a while.
"So, the thing is, they didn't know anything about this. I deceived them too. If they did, do you think they would allow me to take a step from the house? I only did this because I wanted to surprise all of you with my presence. If you don't like it, I can always go back then you can pick me up next week like you planned," she muttered sadly, turning around to leave.
"Where are you going?" Mum asked with a frown.
"Back to the airport," she whispered, looking like she was going to burst into tears anytime soon. I scoffed in disbelief. Vivian was just unbelievable. I'm sure we all knew that but we decided to play along. We stood in silence for a while only Vivian's shuffling feet could be heard.
"Is anyone going to help me with my luggage? Never mind I guess I will have to carry them downstairs on my own just like I brought them since no one wanted me to come anyway. I guess I will have to take a cab to the airport too. But, you will give me some money right?" she asked pitifully like someone that has been terribly wronged.
"Come here," Mum sighed. Vivian slowly walked up to her. She placed her hand on her cheek.
"I was just shocked to see you. I had promised you I was going to personally come and get you but you came on your own without informing me. You are still a child and I was worried something would have happened to you. Are you okay?" she asked softly. Vivian nodded.
"I am okay except for the fact that some adults looked down on me at the airport. They called me a kid but I took care of it. Immediately I told them Daddy's name and that I was his daughter, and they mended their ways. They even helped me with my bags after we landed," she replied with a smirk.
"Wait, at first you said Mason picked you up from the airport then you said you brought your luggage in alone and now you said some people helped you. What really happened? Which one is the truth?" Mum asked skeptically.
"Uhmmm," she trailed knowing her lies had been caught up to. She glanced towards Mady and I for help. We suddenly heard the sound of a car horn.
"It's Dad," Vivian said excitedly, rushing downstairs. She used that distraction as a perfect way to escape Mum's questions.
"Did you really pick her up?" Mum asked me. I nodded.
"I'm not done asking her questions yet. If she thinks this is over then she is gravely mistaken," she declared going after Vivian downstairs. Mady sighed.
"I'm so tired," she mumbled. I stood up from her bed.
"Did Lexi really come here?" she asked me.
"Yes," I replied curtly.
"That's strange. We spoke on the phone and she never mentioned being here. Did she tell you why she was here?" she asked
"No," I replied again.
"Vivian called her rude. Was she rude towards you? Are you both still on bad terms?" she inquired curiously.
"I'm not on bad terms with her but if you see her, why not ask her? She's your friend, isn't she? She might have a different opinion than mine. I'm going downstairs," I said to her before leaving. I was walking downstairs when I met them all talking.
"Mason is coming down. You can ask him. He met me in good condition when he picked me up," she said, making everyone look towards me. I sighed. How on earth did she drag me into this?
"Right Mason? Answer quickly," she urged.
"Right," I responded.
"See, I told you. Can we eat now? I'm hungry," Vivian said, bolting from their presence.
"Philip, did you see that?" Mum asked, staring at Vivian's retreating back in disbelief.
"Let her eat. She's been through a lot today. She looks tired besides she knows she's wrong and she has promised never to do it again. After she has gotten enough rest, then you can scold her. I'm not saying you shouldn't scold her but do it later," he replied. "Mason, where's Mady? Call her, let's have dinner," he said to me.
"No need. I'm here," she responded from the stairs. We all walked towards the dining table and took a seat. Vivian gave me a thumbs up, probably for the lie I told. I need to have a talk with her later. I only lied because I didn't want her to get into double trouble. What she did was wrong and she shouldn't think I would keep lying to save her each time.
"How was your vacation? Did you have fun?" Father Alex asked her as the omegas placed our dinner on the table. Mum served us all herself, dismissing the omegas.
"I had a lot of fun but I missed you all so much that I couldn't wait to come back," she answered with a smile.
"You should pack your hair. Don't eat your hair along with the food," Mum said, tucking Vivian's hair behind her ear.
"Mady? I heard the hospital was very busy today. Was it alright for you?" Father Julian inquired.
"It was very busy but I loved every bit of it. Working in the hospital all day was the most fulfilling thing ever, staring at the patients, I realized that I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world," she replied excitedly.
"I understand. There's just something about the hospital," Mum remarked with a smile. I ate my food quietly while they chatted.
"Mason, how was the meeting? Did you learn a lot?" Mum asked. I stopped eating and took a sip of water.
"It was fine," I replied curtly.
"A meeting shouldn't be just fine Mason. You need to learn as much as you can from it. You are going to take over from us someday. A future Alpha shouldn't be so nonchalant towards his duties. Am I clear?" Father Alex asked. "Crystal clear," I muttered. I noticed Mady kept on turning her phone off.
"Aren't you going to pick it up?" I asked, startling her a bit. I wondered why she looked so startled. Who was calling her?
