Owned By Her Triplet Bullies -
(Bk 2) Chapter 45
Mason's
POV
"f**k," I heard Lexi curse. I turned towards her and my eyes widened at the sight.
"f**k! f**k!" she chanted repeatedly and loudly when the chatters died down. Everyone watched them with keen eyes including me. Father Alex glanced at his white shirt which was visibly stained by Lexi's drink. "I...I'm so sorry Alpha. You appeared all of a sudden and took me by surprise," she stuttered anxiously. She searched the purse she was holding frantically.
"I think I have a wipe in here, somewhere..."
"It's fine," Father Alex finally spoke up, cutting her off.
"How can this be fine? I'm so stupid. Please don't exile me. I don't want to be a rogue. I still have so many things I want to do, my parents will probably die of heartbreak and grief..," she rambled continuously.
"She's definitely in trouble. How classless of her to spit out a drink from her mouth like that. Don't you think so?" Rachel asked, clinging onto my arm. I knew how Lexi was feeling right now. Out of all my fathers, he was the most intimidating. He could even make a brave person nervous. I removed my hand from Rachel's and walked towards them.
"Wait, where are you going?" she called out to me.
"Father said it's fine. Just accept it as that," I said to her. She glanced towards me in surprise.
"Father, forgive her. She didn't mean it," I said. He stared at the both of us silently for a while before walking away. Everyone continued what they were doing before they realized there would be no drama to witness. She let out a loud sigh of relief stumbling a little. "Are you drunk?" I asked with a frown.
She scoffed. "Of course not. I had only one glass of champagne. The second one went on your father's clothes."
She was drunk. She wouldn't quit rambling which was unlike her and her face was flushed.
"You're a lightweight. You shouldn't drink too much. Even if it's one glass of champagne," I advised.
"I'm not a lightweight and you can give your advice to someone who needs it or better still, keep it to yourself," she retorted. She turned away from me and blew some air on her face with her hands. "Why is it so hot in here?" she whispered heading outside. She was infuriating and I probably should let her be. But, I knew how she could be when she got drunk. I witnessed it myself, she almost changed her clothes in front of me. It wasn't safe for her to be outside alone.
I hurriedly followed after her. I saw her standing from afar wobbling from side to side and staring at the sky. The moon was shining brightly and the stars twinkled. I slowly approached her. She turned around when she heard footsteps and groaned. "Mason again! Why can't you just leave me alone? Are you here to give me another lecture? I'm not your student right now and we aren't having any tutoring sessions," she whined.
"You should probably go home. The party will be over soon," I replied.
"Again with your advice. You might be a genius who doesn't study or worry about bad grades, but that doesn't mean everyone else is dumb. If I wanted to go home, I would. Don't tell me what to do," she responded.
"Who told you I don't study?" I inquired. That was true though but she wouldn't have known unless Mady told her. Do they talk about me behind my back?
"Oh please, no need to act all humble," she said. I sighed, I've gone through a lot this night, and bickering with her wasn't about to be one of them. I walked closer to her and grabbed her by the hand.
"Let's go," I declared. She removed her hand from mine abruptly.
"I told you not to touch me. I hate being touched," she whispered.
"Why?" I asked curiously. She was the strangest girl I've ever met. How she acted was always unpredictable.
"Even if I drank three bottles of champagne, I would never tell you that," she replied.
"Fine. If you say so. Can I take you home now? You can remain out here if you want but don't hold me and my family responsible if something happens to you," I said.
"Are you trying to scare me? What could possibly happen?" she inquired, glancing around with a frown.
"I don't know. Do you want to stay here alone and replace out?" I retorted. She gulped.
"Take me home but only because it's late and I won't replace a ride," she replied, visibly scared. My lips twitched in amusement. Would it kill her to ask for help if she needs it? "Get into the car," I said, walking ahead of her.
"Mason," I halted in my steps when I heard Rachel call out to me. She walked towards me.
"Where are you going?" she asked without taking her eyes off Lexi.
"Wait for me in there," I said to Lexi unlocking the car with my keys. She stared at both of them inquisitively before doing as I said.
"She's drunk and I'm taking her home," I replied to Rachel's question.
She furrowed her brows. "Why should you be the one to do that? You can order a cab for her or ask your driver to do it."
"She's Mady's friend. She would be upset if I did that," I responded.
"Are you sure that's it? You are doing this only because she's Mady's friend?" she asked skeptically. I looked towards Lexi who was sitting in the car and staring at us. I remembered everything that happened between us earlier vividly even if I was not in my right senses. She might not be as bad as I thought. She helped me out when I badly needed someone. I could only imagine what would have happened if she never came. I was on the verge of losing consciousness. "Yes I am," I replied although I didn't feel convinced by my answer. What was going on?
"Fine then but be back as soon as possible. You are dropping me off too," she declared with a smile. I headed towards the car without responding.
"You should probably go home. The party will be over soon," I replied.
"Finally. I thought you and your girlfriend would never stop talking. Is she that insecure? Worried that I might steal you away from her?" she inquired as soon as I got in.
"Fasten your seatbelt," I said ignoring her question. I drove out of the pack house and headed towards her home. We rode in silence for a while until I heard her mutter. "Why are my feelings so queasy?"
"Do you feel like throwing up?" I asked, glancing towards her sharply. I never wanted a repeat of what happened last time. I still haven't recovered from that. She shook her head covering her mouth with her hand. "Should I stop the car?" I asked anxiously.
"Yes," she replied. I swerved the car trying to replace the right place to stop.
"I meant no, keep going," she said.
"Make up your mind. Should I stop or I shouldn't?" I asked irately. She chuckled. I glanced at her in surprise. What was so funny?
"You should have seen your face," she said, throwing her head back and laughing out loud. I stepped on the brakes and the car screeched to a halt.
"Were you playing with me?" I inquired.
She stopped laughing. "It was just a prank. Why are you getting all serious?" she muttered. I sighed.
"What now? Why did you stop? Are you going to throw a drunk girl out into the streets this late at night?" she inquired.
"Why would I do that when I'm indebted to you? I know I already said this but thank you for what you did earlier. And also for not telling Mady or my parents about what you saw," I said to her sincerely. Her usual cold and detached expression became softer. "Whatever, but I'm curious about one thing. I understand why you didn't want your family to replace out. They might get unnecessarily worried but what about your girlfriend? Aren't you supposed to tell her about everything?" she inquired.
"Are you upset that I said I hadn't found my mate yet?" I asked in a serious tone. I needed to know so I could clear up any misunderstanding. She kept calling Rachel my girlfriend. I wouldn't want her to think I was cheating on her. We weren't in a romantic relationship but still, I knew it was wrong to do something like that when I found my mate.
She scoffed. "Why would I be upset about that? It's your life. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want."
"Are we going to ignore the fact that we are mates? We found out months ago but we still haven't spoken about it," I replied slightly confused. I knew the reason why I didn't want to be with my mate yet but what was hers? Why was she so hell-bent on hating me and running away from me? The both of us were the most odd mates I'd ever come across.
