Owned By Her Triplet Bullies
(Bk 2) Chapter 53

Lexi's POV

The school ended with me in a lifted spirit. I felt much better than I did this morning thanks to the Luna. I never knew she was that nice and friendly. She spoke to me, a total stranger like I was her daughter. I've never been able to converse with someone so deeply before. I was almost tempted to spill everything to her. Mady and Mason were very lucky to have someone like her. I rode the bus back home after bidding Mady goodbye for the day.

When the bus stopped in front of our house, I made up my mind not to tell Mum or Dad about the trip. I wasn't interested in going. At least that was what I used to console myself. It would be better for me to remain here in this pack safe and hidden. This peace I currently had wasn't worth letting go of because of some trip.

"Mum, I'm home," I announced. I knew Dad would definitely not be home. He was still at work. But Mum was definitely in here somewhere since she worked from home.

"In here honey," she replied. Her voice came off from the direction of the study. I walked towards it and the door was slightly ajar.

"Welcome back honey. How was your day?" she asked, typing away on her keyboard with her glasses on the bridge of her nose.

"It was okay. You seem to have a lot of work on your table," I stated. She was an accountant who calculated the expenses incurred by a small company in this pack. She also entered each detail into the record. She never went to the company unless it was extremely urgent. But most of the time, the company had a lot of sales which would make her work longer. I believe that is the case right now. She rarely worked till now.

"You are right. I have a lot of work to do due to the huge sales this week. But I made lunch. Freshen up and eat. I will be with you shortly," she said.

"You made lunch for me while you still had a lot to finish? You shouldn't have," I muttered feeling bad. I should have done it myself. I felt like she was overworking herself.

"I've told you it's nothing. Cooking for you makes me feel happy and fulfilled. I love doing it," she replied.

I smiled. "Join me after you finish."

"Sure," she responded. I headed to my room to get changed before eating. After taking a shower and getting changed, I walked into the kitchen and served myself some food. The doorbell suddenly rang and I glanced at it wondering who it was. "There's someone at the door?" mum asked.

"Yes. I will just check who it is," I replied, dropping my food and walking towards the door.

"Could be the delivery person. I ordered some new stuff for the house," she said.

"We will replace out in a minute," I answered as I unlocked the door.

"Who is it?" I asked pulling it open.

"Hi," Mady called out in an excited tone with a smile on her face. I raised a brow in surprise.

"You? Here? What are you doing here?" I asked several questions at the same time.

"So many questions. Aren't you happy to see me?" she asked with a pout.

"Of course I am. I'm just surprised. You suddenly popped out of nowhere. Didn't we close from school about thirty to forty minutes ago?" I asked.

"If you are happy to see me, let me in. I will answer your questions later," she said.

"I'm sorry. I forgot about that," I muttered sheepishly, stepping out of the way for her. She got in with a smile. I suddenly remembered something.

"How did you know where I live?" I asked curiously trying to shut the door but something stopped it from moving.

"I brought her," I heard Mason's voice reply. I looked back outside in shock and I was met with the face of Mason.

"You didn't bring me here. I knew this address before. I just decided to ride with you," she explained.

"Who's at the door?" mum asked.

"Uhm...it's a friend and... Mason," I replied, still slightly confused by their appearance. What were they doing here unannounced?

"Mason?" mum repeated and in a blink of an eye, she was right in front of us.

"Good afternoon ma'am," Mason greeted politely.

"Afternoon...who is this pretty girl? She looks like a real-life doll," Mum said in awe. That was what I thought the first time we met too. Mady chuckled.

"Nice to meet you too ma'am. I'm honored you thought of me that way," she replied. Mum's eyes widened.

"I know you. Madison Martinez right? The Alpha's daughter!" she exclaimed. I hadn't thought of this before but what if she replaces out they are twins? They were non-identical but Mady could let something slip and blow Mason's cover. We both glanced at each other realizing we were thinking of the same thing.

"Welcome to our humble abode. Lexi has told me so much about you. You should have a seat. Do you want something to drink? How do we treat the daughter of an Alpha?" she whispered the last part.

"I'm really okay ma'am. Why am I the only one being treated differently? How about..."

"The cookies you sent to me were so good. Thank you very much," Mason said, cutting her off and stopping her from revealing anything else.

"I'm glad you liked them. Feel free to ask me anytime when you want some," Mum replied with a smile.

"You are too kind," he responded.

"Has Lexi told you about the trip?" Mady asked curiously. I knew it. She had another agenda.

"What trip? She hasn't told me anything," mum replied.

"Is that why you came?" I asked with a frown.

"It must have skipped her mind. The school is going for an all paid expenses trip out of the pack in two days. We are all going," she said excitedly. "You all are going. I'm not," I added firmly.

"What? Why not? I was already thinking of all the fun things we could do together," she muttered sadly.

"Lexi, what do you mean by you are not going? You have to go. It will be a fun experience that can last you for a lifetime," she explained.

"I don't feel like it," I replied curtly. Mady's phone suddenly rang.

"It's the hospital. I need to leave," she said.

"Who is in the hospital? Is it an emergency?" Mum asked worriedly.

"No. I help out at my mum's hospital," she explained. Mum nodded.

"Anyway, it was nice meeting you although I can't stay for long. Lexi, you know me, I never give up. I'm definitely going on that trip with you," she stated. My mind was made up. No one would be able to change it. "You can take the car," Mason said. I looked towards him.

"Aren't you going with her?" I asked.

"Have you forgotten that I'm your tutor? I'm here to tutor you," he replied firmly.

"But you never said anything. I thought we were going to start after the trip," I said in surprise.

"That's why I'm here. Besides you just said it yourself that you won't be going or are you becoming lazy Lexi Jones?" he asked tauntingly.

"I'm not. I was just surprised," I replied defensively.

"Okay, I'm leaving now. Bye Mrs. Jones," Mady said.

"Bye," Mum replied. Mady waved at me and dashed out of the house.

"Do not fight with him. I'm going to study to continue working," Mum said, turning around to leave.

"I don't fight with him," I mumbled.

"Yes, you do," he muttered. I was suddenly more aware of his presence. The room appeared to be smaller.

"You said you wanted to tutor me right? Let me get my books," I said, turning around to leave.

"Why are you running away? Are you scared of being in the same space as me?" he asked, walking closer to me.

"Why would I be scared of that?" I retorted.

"I didn't come here to argue with you or tutor you," he started.

"So the mighty Mason Martinez is a liar now? Humor me, why are you really here?" I asked.

"I feel like I owe you an explanation due to what happened today..."

"You don't owe me any explanation," I said, cutting him off.

"I do. And you know why. There's nothing going on between Rachel and I. We've been friends since we were children and that's it," he explained.

"Friends? And yet you kissed her," I replied bitterly. I didn't know where this anger was coming from but it was just there.

"She must have told you that. I had my reasons and if you give me a chance, I will explain everything to you," he muttered softly, stopping right in front of me. I made the mistake of looking into his eyes and it felt like I was hypnotized. "Will you give me a chance?" he asked. I stared at him without responding.

"Come for the trip. Please?" he whispered. I found myself nodding in response. He was too close for comfort and he managed to change my stubborn resolution.
