Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 159

Although the sanctions of the Camdens lasted but a day, they caused irreparable damage to Hartley Group.

For the first time, Katie realized just how great the difference between the Hartleys and the large families from the capital was. If not for the Hamiltons getting involved, they would have been wiped out. This put a lot of pressure on Katie. She knew that only by growing could she stand up to the challenges ahead.

"Jenny, notify the directors of every department. I'll be holding an emergency meeting. All the projects undertaken by Hartley Group must start. Plot No. 3's development can no longer be delayed. We have to build a reputation for our company as soon as possible!" Katie was dead-serious when she spoke.

Most of the directors were hesitant to begin the construction on Plot No. 3, as starting two big projects at once could easily put Hartley Group in a difficult position. However, now that they had all the funds they needed, Katie made up her mind and took this decision.

Katie picked up the documents and headed to the meeting room leaving Adam and Sofia in the office.

Sofia sipped her cappuccino and sighed with emotion. "Your wife has changed. She's no longer the naïve and gentle girl she was in college."

"Don't you feel that she's becoming more and more like a queen?" Adam said with a smile.

Sofia frowned slightly and said, surprised, "Do you have that kind of fetish where you like to be stepped on?"

Adam's face fell, and he said coldly, "The class reunion is over. Why are you still here?"

Sofia rolled her eyes at him. "I have nothing to do, so I might as well follow you around and hope to chance upon something exciting."

"I don't have the time to entertain you." Adam retorted. Then, he headed downstairs, where the security guards spent most of their time. "Sir, may I help you?" greeted the captain.

Adam nodded and said, "Skim through the shifts; those of you who are free, come with me. It's time for you lot to receive some training."

Owen Robinson was just one man, and he would not be able to handle the troublemakers at the tournament by himself. Therefore, Adam wanted to station some of the security guards from Hartley Group there and ask Owen to train them. Since Owen had a hero complex, he was going to love it.

The captain was stunned.

Strictly speaking, Adam did not work for Hartley Group and was not in a position to order them around. However, as he was the chairman's husband, the captain did not dare to disobey. "Okay, I'll apprise the team. Sir, when do you want us to leave?" "The sooner the better."

Having dealt with this matter, Adam headed the parking lot. Katie was busy with her meeting and there was nothing for him to do at the company. He decided to take a look at how the preparations for the Ultimate Fighting Championship were going. While he was at it, he would ask Owen to train the security guards.

Before Adam could even start the car, Sofia popped out of nowhere, hopping into the passenger seat.

"Were you trying to leave me behind? In your dreams!

"Also, you're not allowed to drive me out of the car. I'm keeping an eye on you on Katie's behalf. If you drive me out, it means that you have a guilty conscience!"

Adam was at a loss for words. He just could not get rid of this girl.

He shook his head, started the car, and headed to Sky High Venue.

As he got out of the parking lot, a Jeep started to follow him quietly. Adam glanced at the rear-view mirror and narrowed his eyes.

So they're here... Angeles, is it? It seems you don't understand why this place is the bane of mercenaries. Since you're here, you can forgo any hope of leaving alive.

Despite discovering that he was being followed, Adam did not take action. He continued onward and to his destination.

Sky High Venue was as lively as before, but the scene was less chaotic this time. There were serpentine lines at the entrance, and a few girls that Adam had never seen were in charge of registering the names of the participants. He reckoned they might be members of the Swindlers' Guild.

As he got into the venue, Adam discovered that Priscilla and Fannie were absent. Only Owen and Arianna were around.

"How come it's only you two?" asked Adam.

Owen glanced at Adam and said gloomily, "Lady Priscilla is practicing in the rear. Lady Fannie went to rent a building."

Why the hell do you keep adding "Lady" before every girl's name?

Adam then asked, "What about you two? Keep in mind that the security and medical teams will be essential to guarantee that the tournament proceeds smoothly."

"I've put together a team already. We're ready to get to work as soon as the Ultimate Fighting Championship starts," Arianna said.

Adam nodded, surprised that the silly girl from back then was so reliable. He then turned to look at Owen.

Owen's face flushed red, and he said with a tinge of anger in his voice, "People here have no self-awareness. They are only going to bring shame upon themselves with their limited skills, so I told a bunch of guys that it would've been better for them to join the security team instead. They just turned around and left as soon as they heard my suggestion. Not a single one of them followed my advice. Therefore... I'm the only member of my team, for now."

Adam was at a loss for words.

You keep bragging, but you can't even recruit a few guys to work as security guards. Well, you're lucky that I'm here. Adam coughed and said, "I might have some guys willing to join the security team, but you'll have to train them." Owen's eyes lit up, and he said happily, "Really?"

Adam nodded, his expression solemn.

Owen heaved a sigh of relief. "The training isn't a problem. I'll make a warrior out of everyone you send to my team."

Adam thought to himself, I couldn't ask for more.

Hartley Group had to grow stronger, and the same went for the security guards working there. Although they would not become as good as Black Dragon and the others, they should still improve a little with Owen's help. The plan was to let Owen help them with the foundation and then ask Black Dragon to supervise their real training.

"If there is any problem, just give me a call. I'll take my leave now." Surprised that this matter had been solved so easily, Adam turned around and prepared to leave.

Owen hurriedly said, "I'll see you off. Also, did you replace any information on my savior?"

Adam stiffened. "Perhaps you'll see him during the Ultimate Fighting Championship."

Owen said with sparkling eyes, "I wish I could meet him immediately. He's my idol!"

Adam was, once again, at a loss for words.

Owen continued, "Oh, when are you going to send me those guys? Since there's not much time, you should hurry."

Not knowing how to reply, Adam could only nod. "All right."

Arianna looked at Owen pitifully. Now I understand why Fannie said he has a few loose screws. Unfortunately, I'm not skilled enough to fix his brain. She sighed inwardly. "Arianna, what's the matter? Are you jealous of my incredible luck? Do you also want to participate in the training?"

Arianna simply giggled in reply.
