Salute To The General
Chapter 1814

Chapter 1814

Corey was the son of one of the most powerful families in Brimmopolis. Naturally, his friends were all relatives of bureaucrats or the scions of rich families as well.

None of his friends knew who Nathan was.

Silently, they wondered why the all-important Corey was treating him like an honored guest.

However, at long last, they realized that this man was the General!

Their faces turned white with shock. Hastily, they darted forward to pay respects to him, greeting him courteously by his rank—the General.

In a calm voice, Nathan said, "I've come here in my own personal time. Hence, please feel free to address me as Cross or Nathan instead of by my occupation and rank."

But who amongst the boys would dare to call him by his first name?

Everyone quickly addressed him as Mr. Cross.

Laughing, Corey said, "Yes, it's just a drinking party among my close friends tonight. Let's forget about our ranks and stuff. If anyone addresses Mr. Cross by his title, they'll have to drink a bottle of wine as punishment. Deal?"

Everyone burst into laughter. As they settled down in the seats according to their status, they lifted their glasses and toasted Nathan happily. Nathan was a very easy-going man. Regardless of who was toasting him, he returned their toast politely. Met with his generosity, the young scions felt extremely delighted and puffed out their chests with pride.

In actual fact, Corey had invited all his friends to this drinking party for another reason that had nothing to do with drinking.

His father, Zion, was recently contesting in the presidential election against Mr. Clifford Davier.

Both Zion and Clifford had been putting their best effort into this endeavor to try and garner as many supporters as possible.

As Zion's son, Corey had a moral obligation to do a little something for his father's campaign, too.

Hence, he decided to invite his important friends to go drinking with him. He would take the opportunity to urge them to return home and get their fathers and families to lend Zion their support.

Nathan was someone he particularly wanted to impress.

Nathan had never openly expressed his support for either Zion or Clifford, but everyone suspected that he probably supported Zion.

However, Corey still wanted a definite response from him.

He toasted Nathan twice and decided that now was the time. He was going to change the topic to that of the presidential election and ask Nathan which side he supported.

At that moment, however, there was a loud commotion at the door.

A rather panicked voice sounded from the doorway. "Who the hell are you people? You can't barge into the room just like that..."

Bang!

There was a loud noise as the door

of the room was kicked open. The man that had been standing guard outside was thrown into the

room-he crashed onto the floor and started throwing up blood instantly.

Adrian York walked into the room with a haughty expression on his face, flanked by a few of his subordinates.

He was also surrounded by more than ten bulky, harried-looking men who were dressed in black suits.

They were the bodyguards that Corey had ordered to stand guard outside the room.

They explained quickly, "Young Mr. Lucas, we told them that this was a private room, but they ignored us and barged in anyway..."

Corey frowned slightly and waved his subordinates away.

They helped their injured colleague up from the floor and moved quickly to the side of the room.

Corey's eyes narrowed in dislike as he gazed at the invited guests. In an even voice, he said, "Have we met before? This is my private room, by the way. You'd better have a good reason for barging in here without warning."

Adrian was something of a bandit in the West. How would he know who these people were?

Raising an eyebrow, he pointed a finger at Nathan and said haughtily, "You don't have to know who I am. I'm here for him. This matter has nothing to do with the rest of you;

I advise you and your friends to stay out of it. Otherwise, this ground will be littered with corpses by the time I leave."

What?

Hearing this, Corey and the others boiled with rage.

There were few people in Brimmopolis who dared to speak to them in this irreverent manner.

However, this random guy who had appeared out of nowhere was treating them as though they were nothing more than the lint in his pocket! Corey nearly exploded with rage.

However, Nathan held him back and said quietly, “Since this matter concerns me, Young Mr. Lucas, I think it's best if I handle this by myself. I don't want to trouble the rest of you."

He then turned to Adrian and asked curiously, "I don't know you, do I? May I know what I did to offend you so much that you had to barge in on my friend's private party?"

Adrian laughed coldly. "We don't have to know each other, and you certainly don't have to offend me! I just didn't like the look of you and decided to teach you a good lesson today. What about it?"
