Salute To The General -
Chapter 1903
Chapter 1903
The Lancaster family actually admitted defeat!
In addition to Brennan visiting and kneeling to apologize, Godbert also donated a fortune to atone for his sins.
The ones who benefitted the most out of all that were the citizens of Eurasia who had cancer but were too poor to pay for treatment.
The next morning.
Penny was excited when she shared the news about the Lancaster family backing down. She couldn't contain her curiosity anymore, so she asked Nathan what happened.
Benson, Leah, Kylie, Ava, and the others were staring curiously at Nathan as well.
They were already flabbergasted when Brennan showed up at their doorstep on the previous night and begged for forgiveness. They never thought that things would turn even better and that they would receive the news about the Lancaster family backing down that morning.
They wanted to ask Nathan how he accomplished all that, but it was too late at night. Hence, it was inappropriate for them to ask about it since Nathan didn't say anything.
However, Penny could no longer resist asking what happened.
Everyone leaned in and listened closely.
Nathan answered with a smile, "It's actually quite simple. The Lancaster family realized that they couldn't afford to go after us, so they had no choice but to admit defeat."
Penny and her family were stunned.
Benson couldn't resist asking softly, "They should've already investigated us before they even came over, Nathan. Why were they so late to realize that we're that powerful?"
Nathan didn't say anything.
Colin grinned at the side and answered, "They thought that the general had fallen, so they wanted to take advantage of that opportunity. However, they now know that the general is also the Chief Military Governor..."
The Chief Military Governor!
Penny and her family all bulged their eyes. Surprise was written all over their faces.
Nathan glared at Colin. Seriously? This is the country's confidential information. It's not
something you can share freely!
They were family who had no malicious intentions, but there were innocent kids and women at home.
What if someone tricked them and they accidentally leaked the information? That would throw a wrench to President Woods' plans!
After being glared at, Colin quickly
added, "He's the Chief Military Governor's subordinate. The
าวน
Lancaster family didn't dare to go against the guy backing the general up, so they were quick to raise their white flags."
Nathan works for the Chief Military Governor?
Penny and her family stared at Nathan in confusion.
Nathan grinned and lied, "Colin is right. Didn't I tell you that the government is changing my title and job? I actually meant that I got reassigned to work under the Chief Military Governor and can continge serving the country! Also, there's one other thing I'd like to share with everyone. After the Chief Military Governor assumed his role, he will set out to settle the conflict we have with Xyperia. He is already at the Northern border and is ready to fight the war against the Xyperians. Therefore, I have to hurry over as well."
What?
Penny and her family looked horrified instantly.
Penny seemed especially worried. She knew that Nathan was one of a kind and that it was impossible for him to stay in the city for the rest of his life. She also knew that he is a hero who belonged in a war zone where he could show his skills and shine the brightest.
Penny had been worried about Nathan getting depressed after being dismissed as the Commander-In-Chief of the North Army.
Hence, she was glad to learn that the Chief Military Governor recognized Nathan's skill and that Nathan could return to the army.
But now he has to fight in a war!
Penny's heart was brimmed with worry.
Logically speaking, Nathan was Eurasia's God of War, and a war was about to break out in the North. It was only natural for Nathan to return to the border and personally lead the army to protect their country.
Penny's heart, however, still didn't want her
husband to fight in a war. I'm scared.
Her voice was trembling when she asked, "Hubby, will a war really break out in the North? Do you really need to go?"
Over the years, Nathan had fought countless battles of various magnitudes. Some of those battles were shared with the public, while some were national secrets that had to be carried out in secret.
Hence, as far as he was concerned, the war against Xyperia meant nothing.
Still, he saw the worry in his wife's expression and the tears swirling in her eyes. That prompted him to comfort her in a sweet tone, "Yeah, but it is not a huge issue. We will definitely win this war, and everyone can rest assured." Penny held Nathan tightly in her arms. She buried her head in his chest and sobbed softly.
Benson, Leah, and the others turned to one another. No one dared to say a word. They simply left the living room quietly and gave the young couple, who were about to be separated, some time and space.
