Salute To The General
Chapter 2134

Chapter 2134

Nathan donned on the military coat and toyed with the Leviathan face mask on his hand. He snickered at Clifford, "Isn't this a pleasant on surprise?" Clifford was not only surprised. The man was thunderstruck.

Taken aback, he stared at the man standing before him.

"You! Did you guys plan this out beforehand? No wonder... No wonder Hansel said nothing when I terminated your post as the Commander-In-Chief of the North Army. No wonder Garrett stood idly by when you were in trouble.

"So they had it all planned out. After agreeing to my proposal in terminating you, and after Garrett had succeeded the post of President, he would honor you as the Chief Military Governor."

Nathan replied impassively, "I've no idea whether they've discussed the decision beforehand, nor do I know what they're planning.

"But I know one thing for sure. Be it, President Windsor, or President Woods, they know what I'm capable of, and honors me by giving me the mandate to lead the military of the country. I am very much honored for the trust that they've placed in me, and I will always give my all to not disappoint the two men.

"It is an irrefutable fact that I am the Chief Military Governor right now.

"So, Clifford Davier, what else do you have to

A sense of despair washed over Clifford as he looked into Nathan's eyes. It had never crossed his mind that Nathan Cross was the Chief Military Governor.

He knew that he was good as dead, and he might be dragging the Davier family down along with him.

Nathan was the Chief Military Governor, and he was promoted by Garrett Woods. This only meant that Garrett was definitely on Nathan's side, effectively making the President an enemy of his and the Davier family.

Garrett reigned over the politics and economy of the country while Nathan commanded the country's military. There was no other combination more lethal and powerful in all of Eurasia.

Hence, Clifford knew he was done for.

The despondent man looked at Nathan and said

"Nathan Cross, you won. I lost.

"You can go ahead and kill me now. If you have the grace to ask me my final wish, then I'd like to plead with you to spare one last bloodline for the Davier family so that we can pass on our surname.

"I am willing to bear all responsibility for the transgressions I've committed. Please do as you wish.

“Just one thing, please spare my family. The kin of the Davier family will never participate in politics, economy nor the military. I swear it on my life. I beg you."

There was only remorse in his eyes as the man begged at Nathan.

The old man groveling before Nathan was once the secretary of the cab, reigning over all civil top dogs of the country, a man revered by many. Ironically, the man had to go crawling and beg for Nathan's mercy on behalf of the Davier family.

A pin-drop silence ensued as Nathan said nothing.

After some time only did the man decide to speak. "I will not kill every single one of your family members in view of the contributions you've made to the country.

"However, as per your promise, the kin of the Davier family must never participate in politics, economy, and military. You guys better watch out and toe the line."

Clifford cast Nathan a complicated look. He did not know whether he should thank the man or

condemn the man.

With a shaky voice, he replied, "Thank you for your grace, Chief Military Governor!

"You may order your subordinates to kill me now if you please."

Everyone at the scene turned their attention toward Nathan right then.

All Nathan's men needed were just a command.

Unexpectedly, Nathan threw Clifford a look and said, "You're still the Cab secretary. I don't deem it righteous to kill you.

"That being said, I've already amassed the evidence of your abuse of power for personal gains, and the act of you sending people to murder Major- General Long's father.

"I will hand you and the incriminating evidence over to President Woods. You will be prosecuted accordingly after a discussion between the President, Cab, and the military."

Clifford snickered. "Yes, that is a brilliant move. You can never justify your actions if you kill me right now, and it might even smear your good name if you kill a member of the Cab.

“It's really brilliant to convict me with a crime, and then prosecute me in public accordingly. Bravo!”

Nathan retòrted impassively, “Do

you dare say that you are completely

innocent? Let's just look at the case of Major-General Long's father's death. Do you swear that it has nothing to do with you?"

Clifford was rendered speechless.

"Seize him," Nathan ordered with an icy tone.
