Meanwhile, at the Headquarters of the Chief Military Governor.

Queenie was bickering for her parents. Kylie was struggling to pacify the child and continued to reassure the child that her parents will be home soon.

However, even Kylie was not entirely convinced by her own words. Are Penny and Nathan alright?

Right then, Nathan and Penny were already home, bringing along Colin and the others.

"Papa, Mama!"

Queenie dashed excitedly toward her parents at the sight of them.

Kylie was pleasantly surprised as well. "It's so great to have you guys back safe and sound!"

Penny was sulking. After handing over her daughter to Kylie, she dragged Nathan back into the study room and closed the door behind them.

The two of them were alone in the study room.

Penny was trying her best to hold herself in just now as there were other people around. Now that they were all alone, she no longer had to inhibit her feelings any longer and asked Nathan what was going on.

The man smiled. "What?"

Furious, she demanded, "Drop the act. Didn't you tell me you're the Chief Military Governor's assistant? Why are you the Chief Military Governor instead?

A sense of guilt washed over Nathan and he extended his arms and circled Penny into his embrace. The man gently said, "I'm sorry! I shouldn't have kept this a secret from you.

"My superior wanted me to keep this a secret. I cannot disclose my identity to anyone unless to the commanders-in-chief or other special grade officers.

"And the other thing is if you're genuinely worried about me, then the Daviers would be disarmed and trust that I am really powerless against them, and they would get even more over the top in seeking revenge.

"The crazier they get, the better my chance in taking them down.

"Penny, I swear, I promise you that I will never keep anything from you again, and if I go against my words..."

Before he could finish, Penny's gentle and soft hand quickly covered his mouth.

"I won't allow you to swear on anything, not especially if it's something nasty!"

Before Nathan could say anything,

Penny muttered in a small voice, "I was being emotional just now. I know confidentiality is very important in the military. There has to be a reason your superior did not wish for you to divulge your rank. I lashed out at you because I've been worried sick about you lately... I just can't hold it in when I know that you're in fact the Chief Military Governor..." "I understand," Nathan said gently.

He lowered his head and planted a kiss on Penny's alluring red lips.

Penny let out a moan and instinctively closed her eyes. Her face burned red as she coyly reciprocated Nathan's passionate kiss.

Meanwhile, Kylie crouched down and peeked at Nathan and Penny intertwined in their fervent exchange through the door of the study room. Queenie tagged along and imitated her demeanor.

The little girl blushed crimson red as she saw her father kissing her mother through the gap.

"Kylie, I don't think we should be watching. Papa and Mama are kissing," Queenie tugged at her and said.

The little girl knew what her parents were doing, owing to the countless dramas that she had watched.

However, Kylie could not seem to

avert her avid gaze from the couple. Unwittingly, she said, "Queenie, you shouldn't be watching this. Why don't you leave and let me watch this for a while more...

The little girl was reluctant and grabbed Kylie's hand and dragged her along. "We shouldn't be watching this, Kylie. It's so embarrassing..."

Fearing that the commotion would alert Nathan and Penny in the study, Kylie relented and let Queenie drag her along.

Meanwhile, in the study room, Penny thought she heard something outside the door. She ended the fervent kiss and looked warily toward the door, "Did you hear something coming from the door?"

Nathan pricked up his ears and listened intently. After confirming that Kylie and Queenie had left, he heaved a sigh of relief. Smiling, he said, "No, you're imagining things. Let's continue..."

He planted another kiss on her lips before she could say anything. In a sweeping motion, he carried her and headed toward the lounge in their study

room.
