Right then, Sage and Colin also made their way over to Nathan to report to him about the fire at the Onyx Penitentiary, and that it was uncertain whether Clifford had survived the fire.

Both of them fumed with fury when they heard Nathan's speculation that someone had helped Clifford escape by causing a ruckus and starting a fire.

Sage hurriedly added, "Sir, since someone intentionally set fire to Onyx Penitentiary, I think Clifford has most probably escaped. We have to send someone to go after him."

Nathan thought their chances of seizing the man were bleak. “Davier is a cunning fox. He must have made all the necessary arrangements.

“I think he's even on the way to seek sanctuary overseas right now. I think our chances of catching that man are quite slim. You guys can still send people after him, just don't get your hopes up."

Sage, Colin and Ava said in unison, "Yes, sir!"

Taken aback by the fire at Onyx Penitentiary, the President ordered for a thorough investigation on the cause of the fire.

The results were ready by the next day.

It was found out that it was an arson attack committed by a large group of skilled fighters. Obviously, it was a well-choreographed strike.

Their purpose was to create chaos and to help Clifford escape amidst the turmoil.

The group had even gone to the whole nine yards by placing a body with a similar physique to Clifford in the man's cell to buy him more time for his escape when the coroner was identifying the burnt beyond recognition body.

Meanwhile, in the President's study room.

Garrett and Nathan were listening to the report by the Director of the Secret Service, Hailey Reagan.

After hearing that the arson was a veiled attempt to help Clifford escape the Onyx Penitentiary, Garrett was infuriated and demanded, "How can our people let this happen? Are they dreaming on the job?"

Hailey kept her head low. As the Director of the Secret Service, she was fully accountable for the incident.

In a low voice, she added, “President, I have to say that those who saved Clifford Davier from

the Onyx Penitentiary were no ordinary people.

"Not only were they foreigners, but each and every one of them was elite fighters as well.

"They were very meticulous in terms

of the planning. Each one of them used unique identities, and all of them came from different countries and reached Channing on different flights. They had only gathered and launched the arson attack after meeting in Channing.

"After succeeding, they dispersed into indiscernible individuals and fled. Davier had disappeared into thin air. I suspect that the man has smuggled out of the country via illegal means.

"Damn it!" Garrett bellowed.

Hailey continued, "The Secret

Service had found out that Davier had been transferring a huge portion of his assets overseas these few years. As a result, the man had. amassed a fortune overseas. It's safe to assume that he had been channeling his embezzled funds all these years overseas. Besides, a group of elites was managing his wealth for him.

"His fortune overseas had snowballed over these years, and could even rival that of some countries' reserves.

“What's more concerning is that he has finance elites, mercenaries, and assassins at his service."

Garrett turned to face Nathan, "It looks like not only did we fail to exterminate the man, but we had let the lion return to its lair!"

Calmly, Nathan replied, "It's okay.

Davier is mistaken If he thinks he can escape from being executed if he's overseas. I'd say that the man still stands a slim chance of dying in peace if he uses a new identity, and goes into hiding for the rest of his life.

"If he decides to stir trouble overseas, and harms Eurasia in any way, then I will drag him back here with my own hands and send him to hell, no matter where he is."

Garrett nodded in approval. "Davier has been a member of the Cab for years, and he knows a lot of classified information about our country. If he decides to turn his back against Eurasia, the man will cause calamity.

"Nathan, I hope that you can set aside other commitments and make this your priority for the time being. You have to catch the man so that we can eliminate this time bomb."

"Yes, sir."
