Salute To The General
Chapter 2734

Just as Nathan had predicted, Gammon had issued a secret edict to his army and their elites to slaughter every single werewolf within the borders of Remdik on that night.

Although werewolves were a powerful race that was as strong as human elites, their numbers were insignificant in comparison to humans.

Moreover, humans across many countries adopted a love-hate relationship with them. They would implicitly tolerate the werewolves' existence but refrain from crossing each other's paths. However, when the need arose, countries such as Ariarica would require the werewolves to do their patriotic duty.

As for other countries, some would turn a blind eye as long as the werewolves didn't cause any trouble, while others would pretend they didn't exist.

In the event a werewolf committed a crime, he would be prosecuted just like an ordinary human being.

Only a few countries with strong religious views, such as Wallera, would be in open conflict with nonhumans, such as werewolves and vampires.

Previously, Remdik was one of those countries that had turned a blind eye toward them.

But after the events of that evening, Gammon was outraged.

Upon the issuance of the secret decree, countless werewolves were massacred that night in Remdik.

Consequently, the remaining werewolves who lived among the populace tried to keep their identity a secret, for fear of being persecuted just like their compatriots.

In fact, many of them went into hiding underground.

Hellcave, which was located in Remdik, was a giant cave with an intricate tunnel system within it, just like a maze.

Under normal circumstances, no one would visit it other than some adrenaline junkies looking for an adventure.

Therefore, it was beyond anyone's imagination that Hellcave turned out to be the base of a werewolf tribe.

Shadow Fang, one of the ten major werewolf tribes, had made the cave their home.

At that very moment, thousands of werewolves were gathered for a meeting deep inside the cave.

Chairing the meeting was the Elder of Shadow Fang, Moab.

Moab was an elderly werewolf who was short in stature. In fact, he looked no different from any other elderly man in Remdik. If he was spotted in the streets, one would assume that he was a retired electrician.

However, despite his small figure and the hunch in his back, a piercing glint would occasionally flash across his old cloudy eyes.

On top of the tens of thousands of werewolves who were gathered, the Eighteen Warriors, the Four Generals, the Shamans, and sages were also present.

All of them were positioned based on their seniority as they formed a huge circle around Moab.

In spite of his small and hunchbacked body, Moab was worshiped by all the werewolves in his tribe.

After he scanned his eyes across the crowd, his gaze fell upon Goliath, whose body was covered with

wounds.

"Goliath, do you know how much harm you and the Warfang tribe have brought upon Shadow Fang this time? All because you agreed to do Max's bidding to assassinate Nathan Cross. By offending Gammon the Great, you have ignited an unprecedented massacre of werewolves in Remdik. Since last night, more than a hundred members of our tribe were slaughtered. Since you are the cause of this, how are you going to redeem yourself?"

All the werewolves present glared at Goliath, demanding him to be held accountable.

With his head hung low in shame, Goliath remained silent.

Moab continued coldly, "Since you have nothing to say, I'll then mete out your punishment."

Just as he spoke, Moab turned toward the sages of the tribe. "What is the punishment for Goliath according to our laws?"

One of them announced, "He is sentenced to have his four limbs severed before his beheading. After that, his body will be laid at the altar as an offering so that the Wolf God may judge him for his sins."

Narrowing his eyes, Moab looked in Goliath's direction. "Do you have any objections?"

Goliath kept his head down. "No!"

Moab nodded in acknowledgment.

"Very well, since you have no objections... Executioner, carry out his sentence."

No sooner had he spoken than the executioner appeared with two battle axes in his hands, ready to execute Goliath's punishment.

It was at that crucial moment that a voice suddenly echoed through the cave. "The fault lies with Nathan Cross, Gammon, Remdik, Eurasia, and all those scum who had slaughtered your people. Despite the recent massacre of your race, you choose to kill another one of your own instead of seeking revenge upon the true perpetrators. Is it because you fear making enemies of Eurasia and Remdik?"

The words stunned everyone present.

Widening his eyes, Moab thundered, "Who is it who dares to trespass on the werewolves' territory?"

"It's me, Max, the Five-star General of Ariarica!" The voice had barely rung out when Max strode into the cave with his officers and a troop of super-soldiers behind him.
