Salute To The General -
Chapter 2777
Shock was written all over Szymon's face as well, and it took him some time to regain his footing.
Suspicion was overflowing out of his eyes when he looked at Nathan and asked, "Are you serious about this?"
"What do you think?" challenged Nathan calmly.
He is arrogant. Incredibly arrogant
Szymon thought that, even as a representative of Eagleland, he was being too arrogant to misbehave in front of the head of Eurasia. To his surprise, Nathan was even worse.
Szymon narrowed his eyes and glared a little before chuckling aloud. "Well, if you're that confident, then I will grant you your wish.
"I just pray that you won't be defeated too badly. If so, you'd have to bark and act like a dog as promised, and that would be so embarrassing."
Nathan stoically replied, "You should worry about yourself instead."
One short sentence was all it took to get Szymon utterly red with anger. He was so furious that he was trembling a little.
Penny and Colin, on the other hand, couldn't help but secretly cheer Nathan on.
Nathan had always preferred keeping a low profile, and after being elected as the president, he made a point to always remember who he was. He would remind himself that he represented a country with a long history of culture and civilization. That was why he had always remained calm, even when he was outside the country and ran into rude politicians like Szymon who enjoys provoking others. Nathan would think of the bigger picture and would hold his temper whenever possible. However, Szymon kept pushing the boundary at every turn, and that truly infuriated Nathan.
It got to the point where Nathan had already decided to teach that rude idiot a lesson. He would tear the guy apart and put him on display to set an example to show everyone the consequences of discriminating against Eurasians. Szymon looked into Nathan's eyes, which were burning with confidence, and saw how Nathan had his game face on.
A bad feeling suddenly crept up on Szymon, and he sensed that something bad was about to happen.
He forced his intuition away and made himself calm down before speaking in his deep voice. "Since you insisted, Mr. Cross, I will do as you asked. Please wait for me to put on my armor, and we can battle after that."
I am going to put on the armor and fight him!
That was a custom in Eagleland. The country had always solved conflicts among royalties through battles.
Hence, many royalties had perished in battles like those.
The worst part about it was that the battle had always taken place in a public spot and had witnesses around. That was how they ensured that everything was fair and made it impossible for the legal system to do anything when either party died in battle. That history was why Eagleland was known for its combat and aggressive nature.
At that moment, almost everyone present at Cercis Estate had learned about how their boss would put on his armor and get into a battle against the president of Eurasia.
They cheered in excitement, and it was so loud that it was as though the castle would topple from the sheer vibration caused by their voices.
Szymon left the hall to put on his armor.
They didn't have to wait long for his return.
By then, he already had his armor on and looked as though he were a warrior who was about to get on the battlefield.
When the crowd saw Szymon there and looking all regal, they cheered once more, and the way they looked at Nathan became even more aggravating. It seemed they were eager to see Szymon kick Nathan's butt. Two board games were set up in the hall.
One of them was checkers, while the other one was chess.
The one who was sitting in front of the checkers board was the checkers expert, Westley Court.
The one sitting in front of the chessboard, on the other hand, was a woman in her mid-fifties. Her name was Sandy Meyers.
She was a renowned chess player.
She was born into a family of chess players, so she was exposed to the game at a very young age.
When she was one year old, she began reading stories about chess. She started playing the game at three years old and became famous for it at seven.
She was only seventeen years old when she won a game against the previous master in chess, Dustin
Maddock, and became a figure who surprised the world.
Unfortunately, she was a woman, so many discriminated against her. That was why she wasn't welcomed in her home country.
Worse still, tragedy befell her family soon after, and she was forced to leave.
She fled to Eagleland where her amazing skills in chess earned the recognition of the powerful Duke Szymon. She had been a guest of the castle ever since. Her mission that day was to play chess against Nathan.
The experts, Westley and Sandy, were both ready.
Szymon had put on his armor and was brimming with glee as well.
