Chapter 60 I Won’t Marry That Monster

After what seemed like an eternity, Jake finally spoke, “What do you think?”

“She?” Theodore’s eyes widened as he pointed at Gwen, then at Jake. “And you?”

In the end, he pointed at himself. “I… What’s happening here?” He felt utterly lost, overwhelmed by the barrage of information.

Bradley rubbed his nose and leaned over to the completely bewildered Theodore. “Theo, you really messed up this time. A friend’s wife is off–limits.”

Theodore shot back, irritated, “They’re divorced! Everyone has the freedom to love!”

He shoved Jake lightly and added, “I didn’t know she was your ex when I met her.”

At that moment, Gwen walked past Jake calmly. Behind her, Jake’s voice was cold and heavy. “Aren’t you going to explain this to me?”

Gwen sneered, “Why should 12” With that, she turned and left.

“Wait! You can’t just leave us here!” Theodore called after her.

Jake stormed off with a dark expression, with Bradley trailing behind.

Meanwhile, Theodore returned home in a daze. He couldn’t sleep all night.

The next morning, Theodore barged into Gwen’s office despite her secretary’s attempts to stop him.

Gwen didn’t bother looking up. “What do you want? Did your good friend not give you a moral

lecture?”

“I thought about it all night, and I can’t give you up,” Theodore stated, standing tall and serious. “And I’ve become even more certain of my feelings for you.”

Gwen was quite speechless. “That’s all?” She had expected Theodore to be shallow.

“Your previous marriage is in the past. Everyone makes mistakes, and it was Jake who didn’t cherish you. Ending it was the right choice,” he rushed on as he was worried that she would interrupt him.

I’m not interested.”

Gwen had anticipated that Theodore would take the hint and back off, but he only pressed on.

“Don’t be so quick to reject! We’re both single, and although…”

Gwen’s lips curved into a subtle smile as she glanced at the tablet in her hand. “Although what?”

“Where do I even start?” Theodore sank into a chair, looking troubled. “Since we’re on this topic, I won’t hide my Identity any longer. I’m the CEO of Quinn Group. I joined Savant Group to pursue you.”

Gwen nodded. “I know.”

Theodore was shocked for a moment but quickly realized Gwen probably already knew everything before he started since she was quite perceptive.

“In that case, do you know I’m tied to a marriage contract that I can’t shake off?”

Gwen nodded again. “I’ve heard a bit about it.”

Exasperated, Theodore sighed. “Your boss” sister is my betrothed, and she shares your name.”

“She shares my name… Why don’t you suspect I’m her?” Gwen asked.

“Not a chance! I’d bet my head on it. She’s an absolute monster with a face full of acne, while you’re a goddess.”

Gwen’s expression turned dangerous. She said through gritted teeth, “Oh, really? So, what do you plan to do about it?” “Don’t worry.” Theodore leaned against the table, suddenly drawing closer to Gwen. He spoke with genuine sincerity. “I won’t marry her. Just wait for me. I’ll tell the Lawson family now that I’m breaking off the engagement. I won’t drag it out and put you in an awkward position.”

Gwen stifled a laugh. “Aren’t you worried that the daughter of the Lawson family will come after you?”

“Why should I fear that oblivious monster?”

At that moment, Theodore’s phone buzzed. Seeing it was Pedro, he thought to himself how inconvenient the timing was. This was a crucial moment for expressing his feelings to Gwen.

With a hint of annoyance, he answered, “What’s up, Dad?”

“You bastard! Do you even know what you’re saying? You’re going to give me a heart attack!” Pedro shouted from the

other end of the line.

“How did you know what I was saying?” Theodore held the phone a bit farther away but couldn’t shake the feeling that he heard an echo. He found it puzzlin

Gwen turned her tablet screen toward him, signaling him to look.

Theodore glanced at the tablet, and his eyes widened at once. On the screen, Pedro was fuming with rage, and his mother was looking at him with disappointment. Beside them, Henry, the heir from the Lawson family, was sipping coffee calmly.

Theodore’s mind went blank just like it did yesterday, and he felt dizzy.
