Chapter 61 Out of Jail Already

“You bastard! She’s Gwen Lawson, the Lawson family’s daughter! The one you’re engaged to!” Pedro’s voice grew louder, almost a roar.

He had transferred Theodore to Bellmont specifically to approach Gwen. Though Henry initially opposed the idea, he later agreed, but under one condition–Pedro would never reveal Gwen’s true identity to Theodore. This deal allowed Theodore to work at Savant Group.

Now, Theodore had openly broken the engagement in front of them and had the audacity to call Gwen a monster!

Pedro felt his blood pressure rising. He wished he could reach through the screen and teach Theodore a

lesson.

As Theodore stood up, he stared at Gwen in disbelief while shaking his head. It was hard for him to connect the memory of that “monster” with the stunning woman in front of him.

“The goddess I’ve been pursuing… is the one woman I’ve been fighting so hard not to marry?” He groaned in despair. “No, this can’t be happening!”

With a dramatic sigh, Theodore staggered out of the office, leaving Gwen to chuckle quietly behind him.

After ending the video call, Gwen laughed to herself for a long time.

Revenge truly was sweet. Watching her “nemesis” in such a dazed state felt better than winning the lottery.

Soon, she received a call from Henry

“Yes, Henry?” Gwen’s voice was light with amusement.

“You just got your engagement broken off, and you’re laughing?” On the other end of the line, Henry was furious that Theodore had dismissed his cherished little sister like this.

“I’m happy, of course! That guy needed a good lesson, He should know better than to underestimate me

“What do you plan to do now that he’s pursuing you?”

Henry paused before continuing. “You don’t have to worry about the business side of things between the two families. We don’t need a marriage alliance to grow. Just follow your heart. I’ll handle the rest.”

Gwen’s heart warmed. Her family and friends were always her strongest support.

“Henry, you know what he did to humiliate me before. There’s no way I could still have feelings for him,” Gwen said with a smile while twirling the pen in her hand. “Now, I feel absolutely nothing for him, except for maybe holding a tiny grudge.”

“Understood,” Henry replied calmly. “By the way, Aunt Sofia’s world tour ended recently, and she’s back. She’ll be heading to Findley soon. Want to go see her?”

Gwen’s eyes lit up at those words. “Aunt Sofia’s back? I’ve missed her so much!”

“She’s holding a photography exhibit in Findley and wants me to invite you.”

“Of course, I’ll be there. I’ll fly over as soon as Xenia’s jewelry exhibition is done. Ryan’s in Findley too.” Gwen’s mood lifted. She was only this carefree and unguarded in front of Henry

They discussed recent collaborations with Quantum Corporation before ending their call.

Chapter Outal Mac Already

That evening, Gwen and Yara visited Vere Jewels as Xenia was about to return to Bellmont for her upcoming exhibition. As close friends, they naturally came to show their support.

Vere Jewels had gained international recognition for their standout designs.

News of their chief designer, Xenia’s, upcoming exhibition in Bellmont had already sent waves of excitement through the city’s socialite circles. The wealthy women of Bellmont were eagerly waiting with their wallets ready for the event.

Gwen and Yara strolled around the store, admiring several bracelet designs. The staff member retrieved the bracelets from the glass display case. As Gwen reached out to grab one, her hand accidentally brushed against someone else’s.

To her surprise, it was Caitlin, whom she hadn’t seen in ages.

“Ugh, gross!” Caitlin rolled her eyes while standing among a group of socialites. “Hey, get me some disinfecting wipes. I need to clean my hands.

Yara, recognizing Caitlin, spoke up loudly. “A criminal suspect should stay in jail. Why are you out here? The Hall family sure works fast. They got you out this quickly.”

A flicker of coldness flashed in Gwen’s eyes. Just as she expected, the Hall family was as corrupt as ever. They would always protect their own and refuse to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Caitlin’s face twisted with anger as she shrieked, “What nonsense are you talking about? I’ll sue defamation!”

“Go ahead! Let’s get you trending again. How about another headline?” Yara shot back.

Hearing that, the socialites standing next to Caitlin exchanged curious glances and asked her, “Caitlin, we weren’t at the banquet that night, so we don’t know what really happened. Is it true what everyone’s saying? Did you really get arrested?”
