Chapter 62 Bear the Consequences

Caitlin forced a smile. “Of course not. I was abroad during that time. Don’t believe every rumor you hear.”

If it hadn’t been for Sarah’s efforts to get help from Garrett Hall, Caitlin’s grandfather, despite Jake’s objections, she might really be in jail by now.

Gwen shot a cold glance at Caitlin. “Now that you’re out, you should behave yourself. Feel free to continue running my boutique as long as you’re not afraid of going back to jail.”

“I told you I wasn’t in jail! Can’t you understand?”

Caitlin stepped forward, but Yara blocked her path. “It’s two against one. Do you really want to fight?”

Caitlin realized they were not ones to mess with. After a moment’s hesitation, she swallowed her pride and gritted her teeth. “Of course not. I’d rather avoid you both.”

After all, Jake had warned her never to provoke Gwen.

“Scared now, huh? My babe here is not someone you can mess with!” Yara said proudly while leaning on Gwen’s shoulder.

Caitlin clenched her fists, feeling frustrated with no outlet for her anger. She decided to seek out her friends, only to be informed by a staff member that they had quietly left without informing her.

As the shame of being excluded from her group grew stronger, Caitlin glared at the two still inside the

store.

Gwen helped Yara try on a few bracelets, but none caught their fancy, so they decided to leave.

“Excuse me, ladies, but I believe there’s still one bracelet that hasn’t been given back to me.” The staff member forced a smile, but her suspicion was obvious.

Another staff member rushed over. There’s indeed one bracelet missing. Why don’t you check around,

miss?”

“Shouldn’t you be the ones looking? This has nothing to do with us,” Gwen replied calmly.

The two staff members didn’t say it outright, but their eyes were fixed on Gwen’s open bag. They slowly shifted their positions to block the exit.

Yara exploded with anger. “Why are you blocking our way?

“They’re suspecting you of stealing, dumbass!” Caitlin stood with a cold glare and pointed directly at Gwen. “I saw her sneak a bracelet into her bag.”

With a wealthy heiress personally accusing Gwen, the staff members‘ doubts only intensified. Their demeanor turned unfriendly as they said, “Miss, please open your bag for us.”

Gwen remained composed. “I didn’t take any bracelet.

“Miss, if you’re too embarrassed to admit it, you can just pay for it at our counter.” The staff members had already decided that Gwen was the thief.

Gwen scoffed. “Why should I?”

Caitlin shouted, “I can guarantee that she’s the thief! You two should be bold and check her bag. That bracelet is definitely in there!”

As the two staff members approached to inspect Gwen’s bag, she shot them a glare that made them pause

“Should you dare to touch it, you’ll bear the consequences.” Gwen’s casual tone sent chills down their

spines.

Upon seeing that, Caitlin decided to take matters into her own hands. Just as she moved to grab Gwen’s bag, a slender hand gripped her wrist tightly.

“Ouch! Let go!” she shrieked.

The staff members froze and lowered their heads in fear when they recognized the visitor.

Xenia, the chief designer of the brand, had arrived at the store. No one expected her to show up.

Vara jumped up excitedly when she saw Xenia. “Hey, you’re in Bellmont already? I thought you wouldn’t arrive until the night before the exhibition!”

Gwen smiled brightly. “Good to see you again.”

Xenia didn’t have time for pleasantries. She needed to settle this issue first.

She released Caitlin’s hand and turned to the two staff members. Her voice was devoid of warmth as she

said, “You’re both fired.”

The staff members felt helpless. They had no idea that the two casual shoppers were friends of Xenia.

Caitlin immediately realized that the newcomer knew Gwen and Yara. Frowning, she clutched her sore wrist and yelled, “You’re all in cahoots!”

Xenia responded coldly, “I’m calling the police. When they arrive, I’ll hand over the store’s surveillance footage. We’ll see clearly who the thief is then.”

“That’s great! Have the police search everyone’s bag! I’m not afraid!” Caitlin retorted boldly.

She had noticed the blind spots in the surveillance cameras earlier and was confident that she wouldn’t get caught.

“Go ahead and call the police! If you don’t, I’ll help you!

Caitlin opened her bag to grab her phone, but her fingers brushed against something hard inside. Her mind raced at once. How did the diamond bracelet end up in her bag?
