Shattered Vows Shining Comeback -
Chapter 63
Chapter 63 Caitlin Really Is Malicious
With a smirk, Gwen stepped closer to Caitlin. “What’s the matter? Hurry and call the police. I’m waiting.”
Caitlin, sweating with anxiety, clutched her phone, unsure of what to do.
“Are you wondering how the bracelet that should be in my bag ended up in yours?”
Caitlin froze. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Do you really think I didn’t notice you slipping something into my bag?” Gwen’s voice turned sharp.
When Caitlin made her move, Gwen caught a glimpse of it in the mirror and quickly put the bracelet into Caitlin’s bag before she turned around.
Yara finally understood what was happening. “Caitlin, oh Caitlin, you really are malicious. How could you think of such a nasty trick at your age?”
“Even after being locked up last time, you still havent learned your lesson. Let me teach you a thing or two on behalf of the Hall family today.” Gwen turned to the staff and commanded, “Call the police!”
“Don’t call the police! Please don’t!” Caitlin clung to the staff, desperate to stop them from making the call.
Just then, Jake called her. Caitlin picked up and said in a trembling voice, “Jake, come save me! They’re trying to send me to the police station!”
Yara rolled her eyes, muttering, “She’s the thief here, yet she’s the one crying.”
Jake arrived at the store just minutes later.
As soon as he entered, he saw the standoff between Gwen’s group and Caitlin.
“Jake, they’re bullying me!” Caitlin cried while pointing at Gwen and her friends.
Jake shot a cold glance at Gwen before turning to Caitlin. “What’s going on?”
Caitlin opened her mouth to explain but realized she had no ground to stand on. Her crying only escalated.
At that moment, Yara couldn’t take it anymore. “Your sister tried to frame Gwen for stealing a diamond bracelet. The moment she confronted her, she panicked and started playing the victim.”
As Jake recalled how Sarah and Caitlin had treated Gwen before, he chose not to question Caitlin.
His cold eyes landed on Gwen. “Is that how it is?”
“Why are you asking me? Shouldn’t you be asking your sister?” Gwen scoffed. “Just because someone cries doesn’t mean they’re in the right.”
“I didn’t do it!” Caitlin yelled.
“Pull out what’s in your bag for us to see, then!” Yara’s temper flared again. She turned to the staff member. “Call the police! This person is too stubborn. Let the police deal with her.”
With the situation escalating, Caitlin reluctantly admitted, “It’s all their fault for bullying me! They made me the laughingstock of my friends, and that’s why I…”
Jake felt a surge of frustration, which he struggled to contain.
He just wanted to open Caitlin’s head to see what nonsense was inside. He regretted not stopping Garrett from bailing Caitlin out. Maybe letting her spend some time in jail would’ve taught her a lesson.
“I’m buying that bracelet, so let’s just forget this, Jake said, trying to turn the page.
Gwen’s sharp gaze met Jake’s. “Hold on. Who said we’re done here?”
A chill crept into her heart. Family connections were irrefutable. No matter what mistakes were
Jake would always side with Caitlin.
“Choose whatever you like. I’ll pay for it as a form of compensation,” Jake said calmly.
“Ha! No need for that. I have money.” Gwen laughed as if she had just heard the greatest joke. “Why would I expect you to buy me something that you never gave me during our marriage?”
made,
Jake immediately realized that aside from the ring Gwen had thrown away, he had never given her any jewelry during their three years of marriage.
He felt heavy–hearted, acknowledging his many shortcomings in this relationship.
“How do you plan to resolve this?”
Gwen’s eyes were icy. “What do you think?”
Jake sighed and turned to Caitlin. “Apologize to Gwen,
Caitlin shouted defiantly, “No way! I’d rather go to the police station than apologize to this jinx!”
“I’ll make myself clear, Caitlin. If you end up in jail again, the Hall family won’t spend a dime to bail you out. Not even Grandpa will help!” Jake delivered his final ultimatum to Caitlin.
