Why did Winston turn on Millie as soon as it concerned Joanna? He didn’t even ask what hadhappened before blaming her.

Millie lowered her head and slumped into the chair with a sigh.

“Dr. Caldwell…” Hazel called out.

Millie raised her head. “Yeah?”

“Are you… okay?” Hazel asked with concern.

Millie pressed her lips together. What could possibly be wrong with her? She had long becomeimmune to being misunderstood like that. It had happened far too many times.

Right then, Vanessa finally arrived. “Dr. Caldwell.”

Millie glanced at her, and Vanessa asked, “Are they gone?”

“Yeah. How are you?” Millie observed Vanessa.

She looked quite battered. There were two cuts on her face and bruises on her wrists, and her hairwas a tangled mess.

At that moment, Millie considered calling Winston back to see how ruthless his supposedly fragilefirst love could be when it came to fighting.

“I’m sorry, Dr. Caldwell. Vanessa felt bad.

But Millie waved, seemingly unconcerned, as she replied, “It’s no big deal.”

She let out a sigh as she stepped out from the nurses‘ station. Immediately afterward, she suppemotions and quickly dove into her tasks.

At the same time, online criticism of Joanna continued to brew.

Millie was busy all morning until lunch. She had just entered the cafeteria to eat when she heard anews report on the television, “Mr. Greer held a press conference to express his views regarding thefake Snowdrop.”

Millie’s hand, holding the spoon, stiffened for a moment. A press conference? The camera panned, and she saw Winston and Joanna standing on stage.

For a press conference of this scale, it should have been either Winston alone or with his wife. Whydid he bring Joanna to such an important event?

Winston stood before the press to deliver his speech.

“The Snowdrop has been inflated to exorbitant prices, so it’s no surprise there are those who exploitthe hype by selling counterfeits. Ms. Lowell ended up with one because of her kind nature.

She simply wanted to gift Mrs. Greer Senior a Snowdrop as the herb is known for its health benefits, and that’s why she was deceived. Ms. Lowell is also a victim of this.

“In truth, whether the Snowdrop is genuine or fake doesn’t matter. It’s the thought behind it thatcounts. As long as the intention is sincere, the authenticity is irrelevant.

“I hope everyone can put this matter to rest and give both the Lowell and Greer families somepeace. Thank you.”

Winston spoke about the matter straightforwardly. When he met Joanna’s gaze, his eyes brimmedwith tenderness.

He appeared to be trying to stop the issue from escalating, but in reality, he was defending Joanna. He even made it clear that the authenticity of the Snowdrop was beside the point.

Despite Millie giving a genuine one, in Winston’s eyes, it didn’t hold a candle to the worthless herbJoanna had presented.

Millie’s lips twitched. She smiled wryly as she realized he truly couldn’t bear to let Joanna suffer anygrievances.

Suddenly, Millie lost her appetite.

Just as she was about to stand, a woman’s voice suddenly came from the television.

“Mr. Greer, you seem to be defending Ms. Lowell in every way possible. Can you tell us what yourrelationship with her is at this moment?”

As soon as those words settled, other reporters began questioning as well.

“Some people claim to have seen you and Ms. Caldwell at the courthouse, filing for divorce. Mr.Greer, are you divorcing Ms. Caldwell for Ms. Lowell?”

The camera panned to Winston again. He leaned forward, his hands resting on the table.

His expression grew increasingly complex when confronted with the reporters‘ relentlessquestioning. “As for Millie and I…”
