So, Shall We Get Married? -
Chapter 10
Caleb palmer! By god, I am before the owner of all the franchises of the hotel Atlantis. How is that I don’t realize that this man was too important?
Olivia took a step back in shock at the news, the young woman began to recapitulate all the times she had reluctantly spoken to this guy and not knowing that he was a very important guy. A multi-millionaire, the fright, made her swallow saliva.
Holy god, and I was locked with him in a cubicle of the bathroom.
-It seems like you really didn’t know who I was.
-I, I didn’t know.
-What a strange thing to say -Caleb half smiles.
And all this fuss over a stupid dress, and on top this millionaire has the gall to laugh in my face. He didn’t give all the money he has, and didn’t give him enough to pay for a damn dress.
The truth was that Olivia’s astonishment was wearing off, and being replaced by irritation. The girl thought she put him through all that trouble and for nothing, she was out of a job for no justifiable reason because that guy had all the money in the world.
It was unfair what had happened to her, and it was all Caleb’s fault. The brunette frowned visibly.
That frown did not please him much to say, for a moment he saw her as confused by the discovery of his identity. But now, she was looking at him in a very strange way.
-Is something wrong?
-You…” She accused him with a finger and an unfriendly expression. You are to blame for the fact that I will be out of a job. You had many possibilities to pay for the damages of the dress, and you preferred to argue with me to the point that I lost my job -She takes a step towards him.
She no longer cared who the man was, whether he owned the hotel or not, she no longer worked there anyway. She didn’t have to answer to anyone, so she could unburden herself to the guy if she felt like it. And that’s what he intended to do.
-Hey, Olivia. Calm down a little bit, let me just….
-No, I don’t want you to tell me anything. How can you have the nerve to come to my house and tell me that you own all the Atlantis franchises and yet you couldn’t pay for one lousy dress. He doesn’t know all the trouble I had because of that, I lost my job because of his lack of responsibility.
Damn, that woman was mad as hell. It’s just that her cheeks had turned red out of nowhere. And that time it wasn’t out of embarrassment, her temper was a hell of a thing, it’s just that she kept recapitulating that no woman had ever spoken to her that way.
It was the first one that he found so arrogant, that she wasn’t afraid to address him. It wasn’t a situation he liked very much, in fact, her speaking to him that way didn’t please him. But for some strange reason, he couldn’t come up with one of his own answers.
-Yes, let me explain why I came, maybe we could save ourselves all this trouble.
-What I want is for you to leave my house, right now. And don’t ever come back.
-Olivia, first calm down a little, we’re not going to solve anything by arguing.
Oops, shit but why the f**k do you have to call me by my name, it makes me the hair stand on end.
-I don’t want you to leave my house,” he points to the door.
-I’ve come to offer you a job.
The brunette stares at Caleb dumbfounded, still with her arm outstretched toward the door, then blinks and crosses her arms.
-What are you talking about? -If your purpose is to get me to return to your hotel boutique, you’re very much mistaken. I have no intention of going back to work there,” Olivia folds her arms.
-I want you to work for me,” Olivia straightens up instantly.
-It would be the same thing, I’m going to work at your hotel.
-Not exactly.
-I don’t understand what kind of work you’re offering me, and by the way, who told you I want you to employ me, I can take care of my own business. And although, perhaps, your offer may be very tempting, I’ll tell you that I don’t accept.
But what the f**k, you’re rejecting me without even proposing anything. This woman is unbelievable.
-I haven’t proposed anything to her yet, how can she reject me without knowing what the job is about?
-I refused to work for you, with you, to be your…” Olivia’s cheeks flared as she thought of other things she shouldn’t be thinking about. Thank you, but I’d rather not accept.
So that was it, Caleb speculated. She didn’t want to work, but it was with him, what was wrong with working for him?
-What was so wrong with working for me? -Caleb looked at her a little irritated.
-I didn’t ask him to come to my house to give me a job, I’m fine the way I am, now, please.
She wasn’t sure she was doing the right thing, possibly wasting an excellent job, with an extraordinary salary. But there was also the fact that he didn’t trust her to do her job perfectly. It was just that being around that man gave her certain chills, and it wasn’t of dread, but of….
It was a problem that she liked her boss. The best thing she could do was to stay away from that man and never see him again, and also, it was very feasible that he was there out of mere conscience. He had probably heard that she had been fired and felt guilty.
-My proposal will still stand, this is my private number,” The brown man took a card out of his jacket, “You can call me if you reconsider working for me,” he handed her the card.
-It’s very generous, but I doubt very much that he’ll call you.
-I’m sorry to have interrupted you in your abode,” he says, looking her over from head to toe.
-Yes, that’s all right.
Caleb stood before her for a moment without moving, just staring at her, which was making Olivia nervous enough. She didn’t know what to do, she just stood there without saying a word. However, she was thinking about kicking him out of her house again as if she didn’t see him walk to the door.
-I’m leaving.
Caleb walked past her drowning her with his alluring fragrance, she had to bite the inner flesh of her lips to hold back the urge to say something she might regret.
The brunette turns around and sees him open the door, Olivia’s heart was beating violently and she didn’t understand this strange change the poor guy was going through. Sometimes he was so passable in front of Caleb that he just felt like arguing with him, but at other times, he went completely crazy.
-Have a good night, you know, if you want to talk about the offer, I’ll keep an eye out.
-Thank you, but that won’t be necessary,” Caleb looked at her one more time, then closed the door.
At that moment, Olivia lets out her breath, closes her eyes for a moment to come back to herself. Then she looks at the card in her hands, and instinctively sniffs it.
-With a demon, even the card, it smells delicious,” she immediately slips the card into a book and closes it tightly. I can’t, I can’t work for that man.
She repeats herself and then bites her lips, the brunette pinches the bridge of her nose and out of nowhere Caleb’s scent reaches her nostrils.
-Oh, it can’t be! -She says to herself, running to the wash.
Her hands smelled Caleb’s perfume, if she didn’t get that scent off her skin she wouldn’t be able to sleep all night.
[…]He had lost his mind, look what he had to do to go to that girl’s house to offer her a job. Caleb was coming down the stairs of the entrance of the building where she lived, on the sidewalk he noticed her bodyguard who became alert when he saw him. Good thing he didn’t let him go upstairs, maybe Olivia would have been more nervous if he went up with her.
-Sir.
-Let’s go home.
The CEO walks to his car and gets in immediately, and stays in the car for a moment without doing anything.
-I really offered that woman a job, she’s not even cut out to work for anyone, she never keeps quiet. It would be a complete disaster if I gave her a job.
He denies as he starts the car.
-For my sake, I hope she doesn’t call me….
