So, Shall We Get Married? -
Chapter 9
She waited a little longer, maybe the brunette was about to leave. But she wasn’t, Olivia didn’t come out of the store. A few seconds later, the lights of the boutique were turned off and Caleb watched as the owner came out and closed.
The CEO stood up straight, he wondered if she would have left earlier… the truth was he was too curious, and he didn’t think he was going to be quiet if he didn’t replace out what was going on. So he motioned to his bodyguard.
-I’ll wait for you in my car, follow that woman and take her to the car.
-Right away, sir.
The bodyguard set off towards the woman, while Caleb took the path to his car. As soon as he arrived he waited inside the car, turned on and ready to go. In the distance he spots the store owner in the company of her bodyguard.
Caleb gently taps his fingers on the steering wheel of his car waiting for the woman….
-Good evening, Mr. Palmer. How can I help you?
-Did you give the girl her job back? -He got straight to the point, as he looked down at her from the low position of his car.
-Well, she…
-What? -He interrupts her.
-Well, Mr. Palmer, Olivia turned down my job offer. She didn’t want to come back to work for the store.
Caleb frowns slightly, he looks straight ahead, watching the lights of his car illuminate the wall. Why had she turned him down? He wondered, would she be so proud as to not accept going back to her old job.
-I tried, Mr. Palmer, but she told me not to. And not to call her again, she’s a very haughty woman. And excuse me for saying so, but I wouldn’t want to have such an employee in my store.
The CEO was listening to her, but didn’t pay any attention to her. That girl had a lot of pride, but if she didn’t want to come back, there was nothing more he could do for her.
-All right,” Caleb replied. Leave it at that.
And with the same he starts the car, leaving the parking lot in a hurry… but on the way home, he couldn’t stop thinking about how arrogant this Olivia was, who would have thought it with that naive face she had.
A half-smile graced his lips, she was a real piece of work…
[…]Caleb drops the pen with which he had been signing documents almost all day, and at last he was free of them. He picks the bridge of his nose, then looks at the time on his watch.
He immediately stood up and went to the bathroom, but the truth is that it had been a serious mistake to do so. Because as soon as he entered, he looked at the cubicle he had shared with Olivia. After finishing, he was washing his hands while through the glass of the mirror he saw the door.
He turns around and thinks…
He immediately leaves the bathroom and goes to his secretary’s desk.
-Put me through to the boutique.
-Right away, sir.
[…]He spent the day lazing around at home, the truth was that he didn’t really feel like going out to look for a job. He had plenty of days off to do so, but he couldn’t slack off that much, since his savings wouldn’t last that long.
But for the moment, that afternoon, she enjoyed being at home undisturbed. And since she never had visitors, her attire was quite homely, but mostly very comfortable. The television was her companion that evening, but when hunger attacked her, she opted for a snack.
Rummaging through her fridge, she found a piece of lemon pie and thought it was just the thing for the afternoon. She began to devour it without waiting to get to her room, when out of nowhere someone rang her doorbell. Olivia stops and looks at the door, not expecting anyone.
She puts a piece of cake in her mouth, leaving the spoon to her lips. With her free hand, she opens the door, but whoever was behind the door made her stop breathing. Olivia blinked repeatedly, possibly thinking it was a dream, or her imagination was playing a joke on her.
-Good afternoon, Miss Millán.
This was definitely not a dream. It was very real, quite real. That man was standing in front of her house, but what was he doing in her house? In her building? How did he come across her, her heart was like a locomotive out of control.
-Olivia realized she had the metal spoon in her mouth, took it out and licked her lips to avoid leaving any cream residue. What are you doing here?
-I came to talk to you.
-Who gave you my address?
-Does it matter? -Caleb looks Olivia up and down, it seemed to him that she hadn’t left the house all day.
-Of course it matters, you’re a stranger, and you come to my house just like that.” Her heart wasn’t mad anymore, she was rather irritated that her privacy was being violated.
Apparently she hadn’t even noticed how she was dressed, perhaps the impression of seeing him standing at her door made her forget what she was wearing. Although, it didn’t bother him at all. He didn’t even imagine that woman had those incredible legs, the times he had seen her, she wore black pants and usually that color hid more than it should.
But that afternoon, she was wearing meticulous pajamas that exposed beautiful thighs and gorgeous calves. By God, she was going to make him sweat.
-That’s not relevant right now, you know perfectly well who I am. And I have not come to do you any harm, I simply wish to talk to you.
-Talk?
Olivia sharpened her gaze, what could this man want to talk to her? What did he want? Then she remembered the damn dress, had she gone to complain about it?
-Look, if you’ve come to talk to me about the dress, I’ll tell you that it’s none of my business anymore,” she added. I stopped working in that boutique, so if you want to make a complaint, talk to the owner.
-I didn’t come here for that,” Olivia was stunned.
-Then what are you here for?
-Could you let me in? -She made an attempt to refuse, but then thought better of it and let him in.
As soon as the man entered her house, he filled the entire room with his mere presence. And it was then, when Olivia’s heart began to pound again, and her knees were not far behind.
she asked internally.
The brunette detailed this man, whose name she didn’t even know. He was so tall, and his back so broad, certainly the rest of his body was no slouch. Everything about him was perfect, as if he had been sculpted by the gods themselves. That thought made her swallow saliva, as a truly embarrassing one crossed her mind.
That question made her cheeks burn, for god’s sake, why was she thinking such things about a man she’d barely seen a few times.
Now Caleb was wondering, why she was so flushed. It’s just that she wasn’t even looking at his face, she was only looking at the floor.

And just then she looks up and connects with his eyes, Olivia’s cheeks turned much redder than they were before. That woman was embarrassed, Caleb thought.
-Are you feeling all right?
-Yes,” she answered quickly.
-Are you sure? -Caleb sharpens his gaze.
-What are you going to tell me? I was busy when he arrived.
-You’re not alone? -The CEO frowns.
-No…” He frowns more. I mean, well, yes, I’m alone, but tell me what’s on your mind.
Caleb puts his hands in his pockets and looks at Olivia… he couldn’t believe it himself because she was in his house.
-Why hasn’t she agreed to return to her old job?
-Excuse me? You came all the way to my house to tell me that?
-Yes and no.
-She puts the cake on the kitchen counter. What exactly did you come to my house for? You realize that I don’t know your name, and yet you come unannounced with a phone call, as if we’ve known each other all our lives. And on top of that, I let you in to talk to me about something you can’t quite tell me.
-Really, you don’t know who I am?
Olivia crosses her arms and looks at him. What was wrong with that guy? Did he think that because he had a lot of money, everyone had to know him? He was crazy.
-The truth is, I don’t know who you are, I’m sorry, but I don’t go around meddling in anyone’s life. Or should I know who you are? -He asked curiously.
-Of course you should know, if you worked at my hotel, it’s a rare person who doesn’t know who Caleb Palmer is.
