So, Shall We Get Married? -
Chapter 4
That had been pretty strange with that girl, she wasn’t reading that magazine, who could do that having it upside down. Caleb looks up and stares at the door, who was that girl, and why was she avoiding him? He leans back from the seat and lets out a sigh.
In that instant he reacts, what the hell was he doing thinking about that nonsense? He had things to think about and to take care of. He goes back to the computer and tries to forget what happened a moment ago. But, for some strange reason, he can’t get that event out of his mind.
[…]Olivia hands the bag to Leticia once she gets back to the boutique, her brain kept thinking about what she had done, but she was grateful for it, because if that man realized who she was, she would not have endured the embarrassment.
-Did you check the garment?
-Yes, no, I mean, I didn’t have time to do it.
-Are you out of your mind? You should have checked it before receiving it,” her companion claims.
The brunette watches as her partner takes out the dress and starts to check it all over. Olivia looks at that garment, and thinks that the man had exquisite taste. The dress was one of the finest in the store, and also, quite seductive. She wondered why he would return it, did he not like the woman he was dating? She must be too crazy not to like it.
Aside from that, if he had bought a dress it meant he was married or something. Olivia flattened her lips at his theory.
-It can’t be! -Suddenly she heard her partner squeal. It’s stained.
-What do you say? -Olivia reaches over to detail the dress.
-It’s a wine stain, I’m sure it’s wine.
-Oh, God! What are we going to do?
-What are we going to do?! -Leticia repeats, looking at her as if she was blaming her for everything. The only one to blame here is you, your duty was to check the dress as soon as you received it. Now how do you think I’m going to complain to that client about this when you received it, he can say that we damaged it.
Olivia didn’t think about that, what the hell was she to know that dress might be stained. That was a problem, if her boss found out she received a damaged dress, she would be fired immediately.
-And what am I supposed to do?
-Go upstairs, and talk to the customer. Explain that you didn’t check the garment right away and that when you got to the store you saw the stain.
-Me?!
Olivia’s heart began to pound like a madman, did she have to see that man again? That couldn’t be true.
-And who else, I wasn’t the one they saw pick up the dress, you will go, and you will solve this.
-But you’re the one who agreed to receive the dress, you’re also guilty.
-Olivia, you will go up to that floor and clear this matter up.
-And what do you expect the client to do?
-He should pay for the dress, he returned it and the expense was written off, but with this damage we can’t give him his money back.
-Do you want me to go and argue with that man over money?
Now Leticia had gone crazy, how could she think that she would confront a customer over a drop of wine on a dress, and tell him that he should pay for the garment, it was unheard of. She would rather be fired than have to see that man who made her hair stand on end.
-Exactly, that’s what you’re going to do.
-I won’t do it…
-We’re going to lose our jobs if we don’t sort this out.
-But it won’t be all my fault.
-For that reason, you have to go back upstairs.
I couldn’t see that man because he gives me something> how I was going to get out of that problem.
-Leticia, I can’t go back up there.
-Why not?
-Let’s call, and tell him what’s going on. I think that would be a good idea.
-All right, I’ll call. But I doubt that will solve the problem.
The chestnut breathed a sigh of relief, the fact that she didn’t have to go upstairs once more soothed her fierce heartbeat. It was silly for her to act that way, she didn’t even know this guy and it was already getting on her nerves. It was stupid.
Olivia watched as her partner dialed the man’s office, while she was scared to death. Just thinking about how much that dress cost, not even working for a whole year would pay for that garment.
The brunette listened attentively to Leticia, and judging by the look on her face, things were not looking good. Olivia started biting one of her nails as soon as she saw her hang up the call.
-Things got worse.
-What are you talking about?
-The client wants you to come up personally with the dress.
In a split second Olivia’s heart stopped, she couldn’t believe it, she must be having some kind of dream. She blinked, but without saying a word. She simply stared at her companion and listened to her crazy heartbeat.
-Land woman, you must go up right now.
-No, I can’t go up. I won’t go.
-What the f**k is wrong with you? Why don’t you want to go up?
-Why did he ask me to go up? -Why did he ask me to go up?
-I told them to send the same girl who went to pick up the dress, I can’t go, the secretary already saw you. So you’ll go, you’ll solve this matter and no one will get fired -Leticia hands her the bag with the dress-. Now go, and be a good girl.
She must have had a f*****g nightmare, so much running away from him, to have to face him in the end. The brunette leaves the boutique feeling that her knees were going to betray her at any moment. She could not escape from this encounter….
As she went up in the elevator she straightened her body, she shouldn’t be so tense and nervous, she was just another client she had to attend to. She let out a long sigh as soon as she heard the elevator bell ringing.
Olivia leaves the elevator and walks straight to where the secretary was, seeing her from afar, she felt again that her damn legs began to tremble.
She claims herself arriving in front of the woman….
-It’s you!
-The master sent for me.
-You’ve put him in a very bad mood, so you’d better not make it worse.
-Come in, he’s waiting for you.
-May I go to the bathroom for a moment? -The woman looks her up and down.
-Don’t think you’ll save time by going to the bathroom, you’ll still have to face him. But there’s the bathroom.
[…]She looks at her watch and realizes that this girl was taking longer than usual, she resented the lateness. It was something he couldn’t tolerate, Caleb itches the bridge of his nose. It was unheard of that he was going through something silly like that, and incidentally that his dumb escort the night before didn’t notice him staining the damn dress.
Although he had given it to her, but after finishing it, she didn’t hesitate to return the garment to him the next day. She had no reason to return the gift, she knew perfectly well that the two of them would not last long. Really, no woman filled the resume he needed.
He leaned back in his chair and looked at the door….
-When will this woman arrive, she thinks I have all day to wait for her.
