Chapter 48

Jace's POV

It took us 3 days to get home but when we pulled up we only sawJasper standing outside waiting for us. As we got out we walked over toJasper with worried expressions for not seeing our little girl anywhereor smelling her scent anywhere.

"Jasper where is everyone and where's our daughter?" I question asworry and agitation lace my words

"Alpha, Luna I'm glad you are okay and finally home a lot has happenedsince you have been gone but don't worry your daughter is safe and Iwill tell Lucy that it's safe to bring her home. You might want to come inand sit down before I tell you everything that has happened since youhave been away from the pack.” Jasper tells us before his eye's glazeover as he mind links Lucy to bring our baby girl home.

We walk into the pack house as the warriors bring in all of the luggageand put ours in our room as we go and make our way into the livingroom. Once I get Skylar settled in on the couch I go to the kitchen andgrab a bottle of water from the fridge for her. As I settle in next to herwe wait I notice Dalton standing by the window staring out and Inoticed that the warriors are also gone. I sit there wondering what'sgoing on when Jasper comes into the room and addresses us.

"Alpha, Luna I am so glad the both of you are alright and back homesafely.” Jasper says with a smile

"Thank you Jasper we are glad to finally be home as well. Now why isn'tour daughter here and where is everyone?" I ask concern lacing everyword

Skylar's POV

Once Jace asked Jasper why our daughter wasn't here and whereeveryone was I noticed the pain, guilt, and hurt swirling around in hiseyes knowing something bad had happened while we were gone. Iplaced my hand on my mate's shoulder to calm him down as I lookedat Jasper.

"Jasper hun take your time I can tell something horrible happened andthat you feel guilty and hurt about what happened, so please take yourtime no one is rushing or forcing you to tell us right this second.” I saywith a gentle smile hoping to ease some of the pressure that is surelyweighing on him. I watch him stand and pace the room obviously tryingto figure out where to start the explanation from when I notice his eye'sglaze over knowing someone was linking him.

"Lucy and Lilith should be here by tomorrow night the earliest since Isent them to the Mystic Pack to keep them safe.” Jasper tells us

"Okay until then why don't you start from the beginning and fill us inon what happened while we were away and take your time we aren'tgoing to rush you" I tell him as I give Jace a look telling him to behavehimself.

"Alright I appreciate it. Anyways I guess I'll start with the day the Jaceleft here to go to the Blue Willow Pack. Once he was gone we had a fewrandom rogue attacks and Dr. Ramsay has been keeping track of Lilith'sgrowth and everything for you. Anyways one day one of pack wolveswas in town and seen 3 strange men who were making their way to thepack house so we went on high alert and before Jace left we had apanic room made with a hand scanner and a secret passageway leadingaway from the pack house as well." Jasper explains as I sat therenodding me head

"Since we were told about the men we were all on high alert and hadwolves patrolling almost around the clock just to be on the safe sidebut it didn't help. Lucy, Lilith, and I were watching TV in the living roomwhen I got a very bad feeling since I hadn't gotten any updates fromthe wolves on patrol for a while so I brought Lucy and Lilith to the panicroom and told them to stay there until I either came to get them or toldher to grab the emergency bag and run to the Mystic Pack where Iknow the beta and Alpha pretty well, so I knew they would help protectthem.” he went on recollecting the events of what went on but I wasn'tprepared for what happened next.

"I knew something happened to the wolves on patrol when I didn't hearanything back and when I tried to mind link them all I got back wassilence. After I made sure Lucy and Lily were safe I came back upstairsto replace the front door smashed open so I carefully made my wayaround the house being as quiet as I could. I heard yelling, growlingand things being smashed coming from upstairs and I knew that theintruders were in the house and had found Alex and Amber who wereresting upstairs.” Jasper grew quiet and solemn from just thinkingabout the events so I moved closer to him and placed my hand on hisknee to give him some support knowing this was very hard for him."Thank you Luna, Once I made it upstairs and to where everyone was Inoticed the intruders were the men that took you Skylar all thosemonths ago. I saw Alex tackle one of them out of the window and landon the ground with a thud, then the other two moved towards Amberand cornered her and before she could do anything they both lungedat her with their claws out and pinned her before they snapped herneck and once I seen that I lost it and shifted attacking them in aninstant taking them by surprise since they didn't even realize I wasthere. I killed one of them before the other one got a grip on me andbroke a few of my ribs as I got out of his hold I jumped through thebroken window Alex had went through as I landed with a thud yelpingat the pain from the broken ribs I looked up when I heard Alex in hiswolf form whimper and I could see him limping while he tried hishardest to keep fighting with the the guy he tackled who was alsolimping slightly but I could see in Alex's eyes that he was exhausted andwouldn't be able to keep at it for much longer." Jasper was full oncrying by the time he got to this part of the story making me fill withsorrow and dread I held his hands in mine as I squeeze them so heknows we are here for support as I looked as Jace whose expressionwas also that of sorrow and guilt as he looked at Jasper. He glanced atme and rubbed my back as he wiped away my tears I hadn't known Iwas even shedding.
