Chapter 49

Skylar's POV

We had just got home and had been told that Lucy had our daughter atanother pack being protected since it wasn't safe for her to be hereuntil we came home. Currently everyone who was gone was sitting inthe living room listening to Jasper explain to us what had happenedwhile the warriors who were with Jace were outside guarding the house.Jasper seems to be about half way done telling us he events that hadtranspired and I know it is extremely hard for him to talk about.

"I was running my way towards Alex to help him out when he looked atme with very sad eyes as he mind linked me telling me to run and thathe was sorry and to take care of Lucy and Amber but he wasn't awarethat Amber was already dead. He told me to make sure that Lilith wassafe and that he loved me before he blocked the link, I watched as hetried to attack the wolf he was fighting with but he was to hurt to beable to fight properly and the wolf killed him. At that point I lookedbehind me and saw the wolf I was fighting with in the house comingafter me so I took off in a different direction then the house andpassageway. As I was running I made sure that they were bothfollowing me as I took them away from the pack house so that Lucyand Lilith could get away.” Jasper tells us through his tears

"So before I got out of distance I mind linked Lucy and told her to takethe emergency bag and Lilith and to take the passageway and to headwest and not to stop until she reached the Mystic pack. Before hand Ihad reached out to them and asked them if they could watch andprotect Lucy and Lilith if anything went wrong here and they were morethen willing to help. I told Lucy I loved her and for her to stay safe andkeep Lily safe before I blocked her out making sure I did everything inmy power to give them enough time to get far away from here notcaring about what happened to me in the process. I had been runningfor hours when my legs finally gave out and I collapsed in someclearing far away from the pack house, I was so exhausted I shifted backand layed there panting trying to catch my breath and give my wolftime to recover so we could make it back home if we lived. I saw theother 2 who were chasing me come into view and they shifted back totheir human forms before coming up to me and beating the shit out ofme trying to get me to tell them where Lilith was but I told them Iwould never tell them where she was and that she was long gone andthat they would never ever replace them. They threatened to kill me if Ididn't tell them but I didn't care I told them to kill me as I would neverbetray my alpha or my pack by telling them anything. The continued tobeat the living shit out of me and when I thought they were going tokill me they injected me with something that burned like fucking hellmaking black spots spread across my vision as I was losingconsciousness. The last thing I remember was one of them leaneddown and said something in my ear but I wasn't able to focus on whatit was as I blacked out completely.” he told us everyone sat stock stillnot knowing what to do or say before Jasper continued

"After hours of being blacked out I awoke in forest beaten and bruisedbut still alive for some reason. I painfully shifted back into my wolf andcame back to the pack house, once I got here I shifted back and threwon some shorts before I linked the doc to come and help set my ribsback in place and bandage me up before he made me rest for a fewhours to let my ribs set enough that I could move and lift some things.Once I was able to move around I went upstairs and grabbed Amber'sbody and brought it outside to the edge of the forest and then I wentand got Alex's body as well and placed it next to Amber's before I dugthem a joint grave and put them to rest. After I did that I took my timecleaning up the room they destroyed before I had hired someone tocome and fix it up making it look like new so that everything was fixedfor when one or both of you came back home.” He told us with painfilled eyes

"Where was Lucas when all of this was happening considering heshould have been here as well." Jace asks Jasper curiously

"Well the thing the day you left he seemingly just disappeared and noone had a clue to where he was. When I got back from the clearing Iwoke up in I heard someone in the house so before I linked the doctorto come and fix me up I went upstairs to where Amber's body waswhich is where I heard the sound come from and that's when I seen himstanding there staring at her lifeless body. I stood there watching himand as he turned to leave he seen me and jumped scared since he hadno clue I was standing there so I asked him where he had been andwhat he was doing when we were being attacked and told him howAlex and Amber were dead because he wasn't here to help his packmates out. I demanded him to tell me where and what he was doingwhile his pack mates were being murdered but he just stood therebefore he started to laugh maniacally at me before he took off throughthe broken window and into the woods and I haven't seen him sinceand I know he had something to do with the attack but I can't proveanything.” He informs us which enrages Jace who had to leave and gofor a run with some of the warriors for back up just in case somethinghappened.

I got up and hugged him close to me as we both cried for out fallenwolves and I promised him we would hold a proper funeral for Alex andAmber. Jasper thanked me before he got up and left going out theback door probably to go and visit his brothers grave, I watched him gomy heart breaking with every step he took. I followed him into thekitchen as he stood in front of the sink staring out the window lookingat the unmarked grave of his twin brother and his dear friend. I walkedover and placed a hand on his shoulder making him jump a little as helooked over to me and gave me a small smile before he continued tostare out the window as he placed his hand over mine as we stood in acomfortable silence for a little while.

"I am so sorry about Alex I know how close you both were and whatyou guys meant to each other. I also want to thank you for taking suchgood care of Jace and Lilith for me since I was taken I don't know if hewould've been able to come and save me if he didn't have you here tolook after him. It tears me apart seeing you like this and knowing thatthere was nothing I could have done to protect my pack and my familyI'm just eternally grateful for all of you for being here for my mate andmy daughter when I couldn't be.” I say to him as I cry slightly
